Jimmy Johns was one of the reasons I made it thru college at EIU! Loved seeing the old Charleston store. Remember it well. I also ate from Booby's in Carbondale! Didn't know that Booby's inspired Jimmy Johns. Loved this video and love Jimmy Johns!

Had never heard of it when I got hired as a delivery driver in Highschool. Fell in love with the business model (and sandwiches) and fully intend on franchising one day
Worked at the original in Charleston in the 90s. Love his story and product .

I was a Junior at EIU in 1983 and had his sandwiches delivered all the time. They haven't changed except initially they were skimpy with the meat. Now they're even better. I always had a Buffalo Bird Hoagie, which later became the Hunter's Club. At the time, Domino's Pizza was the only place that delivered and it tasted terrible. When Jimmy started delivering sandwiches everybody loved them!

TBH, Jimmy John's rocks! They kick the crap out of every other franchise/chain sandwich shop I've been to. Togo's? Kinda bland... Jersey Mike's? Eh, not quite. Subway? Oh, please...
It's really the ingredients. The fresh baked bread, the quality meats, even the condiments are gourmet and that's why JJ is a cut above. I just wished they closed a little later, every location around me closes at 4PM! Come on, who doesen't wanna pick up a 'wich after they get off work?

BUTT, if a franchise that made a french bread that was a medium between the subway Italian bread and Jimmy John's... I would order that everyday.
You have subways Italian bread that is softer than its supposed to be and Jimmy John's bread that is hard as shit.
That being said I would order subway way more at work if they had the delivery system that jimmy johns has.
Subway has a wider variety of options on their menu, but no store controlled/operated delivery system.
@@JohnDoe-vq1td lol i love JJ's bread exactly because it's a little "dryer" and has some structure/bite to it - like a real loaf of Italian or French bread. I can't stand most sandwich joints because their bread collapses and becomes soggy.

I work at JJ’s, that’s actually not a bad idea at all. Sliced black olives would be a hit.
Feel free to chime in on what I'm posting. Picky eaters really get on my nerves especially when they are mature adults in there 40's and 50's, to me it's sad. I work for a company that sells numerous products and sometimes the reps from these companies will pay us a visit and bring lunch for everyone. Today a Rep came in with a big box of Jimmy John's subs a variety pack. These sandwiches were made the way they are supposed to be with Lettuce, Tomatoes and Onion. Some guys took a pass, some opened up their sandwich and said who in their right mind would put rabbit food on a sandwich and scraped everything off, some also said and Mayo. Remember these are not young people they are in their late 40's to mid 50's. It took me back in time when my kids were like 6 or 7 years old acting the same way. It would be funny if Jimmy Johns came up with a box to put numerous sandwiches, all plain with nothing on them and decorate this box with kids pack and give it to these middle-aged kids.
