      Jimmy will never be considered a great interviewer. He's never authentic. The credit is in the other chair. Howard has that way.

    • @47imagine
      @47imagine 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Jimmy let him talk, but that's easy to do with Howard Stern. Let's face it, Jimmy is actually a horrible interviewer, certainly for "talk show host" standards. Even in this interview, he has difficulty articulating coherent, substantive questions, without sounding insecure, nervous or childish. And of course, his laughing is an easy exit ramp to sidestep these situations. Now, as an impressionist and sketch comedian, Jimmy is golden. He definitely knows how to create a fun vibe with games and stuff. But don't expect any compelling interviews from this guy....

      In the perfect world, we'd all get along and be nice to each other. Unfortunately, the world we live in is far from perfect. At least Howard was honest about what he did and seemed genuinely remosersful unlike 95% of the apologies you hear these days that just sound like "yeah, I dropped the ball, can I go back to work now?"

      @hellasow he killed himself because he had a role of dementia that had turned him very paranoid & confused. The interview with Howard was 20 years prior

    • @rukawa23gold
      @rukawa23gold 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @hellasow Or Robin is simply too messed up psychologically and physically from the tons of cocaine he inhaled. My theory is jusy as valid as yours.
      We all love Robin, his on screen brilliance. And let's not kid ourselves. Robin's bipolar condition drives him to work and pushed so hard in comedy. It also made him a ticking bomb. It just saddens me to see you accusing people of triggering suicide. It's very irresponsible.
      Please don't pollute the memories of Robin Williams with such nonsense. Robin wad bipolar and clinically depressed like many comedians. His comdy work was his salvation. And the dementia took away his ability to do sharp and brilliant comedy. That's very depressing for a guy whose life so depended on his work. Robin has led a tragic life. .........

      Perma Frost - Jimmy Fallon has the tendencies and actions of a dog who has been kicked too much. He’s afraid to make a mistake. He’s afraid of criticism. He’s always trying too hard to be friendly, trendy, and popular. He’s always trying way too hard to please people to the point of being fake and inauthentic. His fake laugh gives it all away before he speaks a single word. The Howard Stern of 30 yrs ago would have sniffed him out in a minute and roasted him alive for it.

      Y’all are so awful. Jimmy’s a slightly awkward introvert but a great entertainer who always means well. He’s always described as a genuinely kind person and a people pleaser. He does do some “encouragement laughter”-something ALL talk show hosts do-he’s just less subtle about it. And y’all exaggerate the “fake laugh” nonsense anyway, he genuinely laughs all the time, you think everytime he laughs is fake and that’s not the case at all.
      He’s not perfect and he’s had some bad interviews over the years but he’s also had many many good ones. He’s always been giggly, it’s a reactive thing in conversations that many people do and it’s just so harmless but you people get off on bullying him.

    Awwww that was SO sweet what Howard did for Maryanne from Brooklyn (caw caw 🤣). I’ve listened to his show since he was in DC and Maryanne truly is his biggest fan. On a side note, I have the same kind of memory as Howard! It’s called syncopated auditory memory, where you remember everything (I mean EVERYTHING, down to the pauses and inflection) of what someone is saying, and how they are saying it. I can recite entire movies years after I’ve seen and heard them. My teachers in school called me “the tape recorder” 😂 because I could recite things back to them, verbatim, from weeks and even months ago. I can also mimic someone’s speech insanely accurately. I would imagine that people who can do terrific impressions with their vocals also have this kind of memory. I taught myself to play piano just by listening. Also am a great singer and harmonizer, with insanely precise pitch. My verbal comprehension was tested, and it’s off the charts. But it’s not always such a great thing. When someone I love says horrible things to me, I never forget it. It makes it tough to stop hurting. I’m also an insomniac because I’m always playing things over in my head. Also like Howard, I’m neurotic as hell. So I picked a good profession for this “talent”; I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Which means I listened to people talk for a living 😉

      Rebecca Hopkins , I’m like that, too! I only realized when I was in my early twenties that not everyone could do that. One of my friends once said about me: “She can tell you exactly what you said on a sunny afternoon in May 5 years ago.” And that’s when I finally realized that other people weren’t ‘forgetting’ these things or remembering them inaccurately on purpose. 😂 One of my colleagues called me ‘the sponge’ because of my ability to remember things that were orally explained to me immediately. Another colleague used to call me after every conference call because I could recite back exactly what everyone had said, so he would check whether he had missed anything in his notes.
      My eldest daughter is the same. She is 9 and remembers conversations we had when she was 3.

      I'm an Audio Production Student/Alumni. I felt exactly the same way and heavily relate to it. I'm terrible with notes, and never bother to take them, as reading them back is practically useless. However, if there's ever video, or auditory tutorials on whatever I'm doing - I can remember it almost forever. And all throughout my life, I've been this way. If I ever wrote something or read some article, blah blah, I'm lucky to remember it in two weeks. If I was told something in great detail, listened to a song, podcast, audiobook, or watched a movie - I can recall it for years, in extreme detail. I can remember a random funny joke I heard and loved in elementary school, 20 years later, like it was yesterday.
      Also - I agree about Maryanne, from Brooklyn. Fantastic stuff, that. Glad she got to shine.

      But I definitely very impressed by his serious change in perspective through psychotherapy, and his growth in maturity. So count me as another agreeing with @adam mac (the OP of this thread).

    There is nothing more scary than realizing that you might die. Once you are faced with that word, your never the same. It quickly makes you realize what’s really important in your life, and it makes you stand in front of your own personal mirror and take a long hard look at yourself. Some people are changed forever, and some see it as their second wind. It’s incredible to see the difference it has made in this one man’s life. • @rulinghabs
      @rulinghabs 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Amari Selah the problem is more the format than Jimmy. Stern said his best interview of all time was with Conan O’brian. They talked again about that interview last week. They realized that you really can’t have that type of in depth interview on late night Tv because the format doesn’t allow for it. Stern has awesome interviews because he has the time to explore with his guests for an hour or so. If he doesn’t feel like going to a commercial break he doesn’t have to.
      If Fallon wants to get better he just needs to stop fawning over his first so much and can the fake laugh. He is very talented but I can’t watch him.

    Back in the early 90's, I was heading out of my parents' house and living on my own. But prior to that, I had Howard on the main stereo every morning. My mom heard him a few times and actually got into his show. Up until one one point. I can't remember what year it was, but Howard made Jessica Hahn keep a booger on her nose for the entirety of the show and that did it for my mother - her gag reflexes went off the charts.
    Back to today. Mom loves Howard once again - especially after seeing him during his book promo tour on shows she watches. Now I'm getting phone calls and texts telling me how nice Howard is and how great he was with his guests and how much he loves Beth.... Yeah. Been there. Like him or not, with all the stuff that's been going one with these supposed clean guys and ladies, Howard's been one of the very few celebrities that somebody like TMZ doesn't have junk on. Betcha can't say that for most of the people you admire.

    Howard is pretty shrewd. Not only was he a great interview, he was subtlety advising Jimmy on how to conduct an interview. Too often Jimmy gets caught up in trying to outshine his guest. By sitting and truly listening to Howard resulted in a fantastic interview. Jimmy is truly talented, but in this format, less is much much more.

      He was getting hate from both trump supporters and trump haters, it was that bad that there was a time he totally disappeared from his SM accounts! He said himself (in an interview/podcast with the Hollywood Reporter) that he was depressed over it, i’ll never forget him saying “...I’m depressed. Do you want to push me more? What do you want me to do? You want me to kill myself? What would make you happy?...” and you could hear that he was choked up. It almost broke him and as a big fan of his, I was in tears hearing just how much all the hate/backlash hurt him

      Last years survey found the number had dropped near zero.

    I love Howard. He is SO different from what I would do or say or who I would interact with, I’m an introvert. But somehow Howard, I just feel like he is all heart. His filter is different, he feels deep he cares huge. After I watched his movie of how he came to be I was like WOW he is literally any little boy scared and tiered of being invisible. When your brain is overwhelming filled with creativity and dreams and the world doesn’t listen…. Howard figured out how to get ppl to listen to a skinny nobody. He sounds crazy at times but it’s just he has a different type of filter on him. Respect. We all wish we could get ppl to listen.
