Dr Marbas is THE BEST! She is so kind and understanding. She is a great role model who walks the walk. Her tips and tricks help me so much (along with Chef AJ) to keep up a plant based lifestyle. Thank you!! Excellent tips in this video even for those of us who have been working on this for a while.

Dr. Esselstyn devours rolled oats morning and night. Dr. McDougall prefers rolled oats too. Is the glycemic index between rolled and steel cut that dramatic? And what about the Quaker 3-minute steel cut oats which has similar cooking time to rolled oats? I assume the quicker 3-minute steel cut oats are just chopped or cut into smaller pieces than regular steel cut oats. I eat rolled oats twice a day since going vegan, but add generous topping of strawberries, banana, blue berries, walnuts, chia/flax seed mix, cinnamon, soy milk. I'm assuming the toppings would positively affect blood sugar response vs simply eating the rolled oatmeal by itself. AJ, next time you have a guest who brings up oatmeal could you please ask about rolled vs steel cut with and without these toppings, thanks.

For iron supplements if iron bothers your stomach try slow release iron. That’s what I take. And take it with food.

Google says glycemic index of rolled oats is 57 but, only 53 for steel cut oats. Instant oats has a score of 79. 😢

Good tips for health. I m wondering why nobody talks about herbs. They r a great tool for boosting health. Transition can b made much easier and quicker. Dandelion roots, chicory powder, burdock roots. No any word about fermentation based food with propionic bacteria for B12 isntead of taking a spray or the like.

?? Wonderful information!! I have 3 questions. 1) I am trying to go plant based, and have done so for the last couple of weeks. What do you think about restricting eating -- ie, not eating between 7pm ish for 14 - 16 hours. 2) Is eating raw spinach (and other veg like it) bad? Can it cause kidney stones & other problems? There is so much conflicting information out there that it is so hard to know what to do and what to believe. Nothing should be this hard to do or understand. 3) Since starting more plant based & not having oils or bread or butter etc. either, I have gained weight!!! not sure why as I feel as though I am eating much less??? It is a bit disheartening!
Anyway, thank you for all the great information & inspiration. I hope someone can answer some of my questions!! :)

Try sugar-free apple sauce. It worked for me as a life-long sugar addict. 1 teaspoon instead of-- Also eat more whole fruits. I wish I’d done it sooner. The cravings stop cold. And I live in the world pastry capital.

It’s just like falling down. You just get back up! I eased into wfpb and as I watched many videos it kept me encouraged and I just keep learning. SO important to watch Dr McDougall, Chef AJ, Plantstrong, Plant based with Jane Esselstyn, Well Your World . I can’t emphasize how important it is to keep you motivated and learning. Fail forward lol
