MADEIRA, PORTUGAL - Are you looking for the best steak in Madeira? If the answer is yes and you want to eat a perfect flame-grilled steak, then join me as I taste the food at La Vaca Negra Argentinian Steakhouse in Funchal.
The food at La Vaca Negra (The Black Cow) is rooted in Argentinian steak culture and cooked in the traditional way. It, serves the juiciest, thickest and tastiest steaks on the island. Everything is cooked to perfection over a beautiful open wood grill. It is great to watch but really adds a unique smokey flavour to the food.
The Argentinian steakhouse (and the grill which the steak is cooked on) is traditionally called a Parrilla.
The quality to price ratio (bang for your buck) is high here. Portions are absolutely huge, especially if you choose the mega t-bone or tomahawk steak, but the prices are so reasonable for the quality on offer.
All steaks come with sides, either baked potato or fries and the three house sauces.
Don't forget to try the homemade empanadas - They are awesome!!
The staff are super friendly and welcoming, but you do need to book. This place gets busy!

So pleased that you enjoyed the restaurant. It's hard to beat a piece of meat cooked with fire isn't it. They certainly know what they are doing. Nice to hear their service was as good as it was when I was there too, that too makes a difference.

Yes!! I was hoping you'd say vaca negra. Went there twice when we were there. Absolutely superb. I always go for rib eye. Great vid again Joe.

@@hungrytoexplore actually thinking about it I had the rib eye once and the T bone the next time. I almost certainly would've tried something different. Also, I had to book on both occasions. To be honest though, I never had a steak in Madeira that wasn't very good. Oh, and you're right. Fat IS flavour! Look forward to your next one Joe!

It says a lot that it's always packed with people. It's certainly my go to place for steak too when I'm visiting.
