You can learn so much just by watching this video. Absolutely amazing how Johnny incorporates the Bb Tenor with the Eb Alto. Great job with everything, especially the altissimo on the tenor!
I play Baker Street in the original key and the key that Johnny chose. When you play them both, Johnny's take on Baker street actually feels better than the original release. The original key feels more contemporary while Johnny's version feels much more intense and it feels much more able to 'let loose', especially in the solo.
i was just getting hooked on this song (the original version) and thought that it could not be better... then i watched this video and wow.... he makes every song better
very nice...as always must say.....but ...is there not a chance for you to complete the song with a tenor sax without the alt sax??? I know it is not the same sound.....but...you do always nice variations of songs...and they sound great
Is that a Trevor James Raw? Those horns are pretty friggin sweet. I tried one in Montreal at a boutique like 4 yrs ago. It tired my neck but i think a good pad could solve the problem and I swear it sounded better than the Selmer Super 80. If I remember right there was a weird feel to a key location though, was B or C, I think. Just a matter of getting use to it I suppose. Nevertheless, they had a nice reverb setup and I Kicked ass on it playing some Hall and Oates stuff. Wife would not let me buy it. =( What a mistake.
sounds awesome Jonny...love the two different sax mixed up..Please tell me if its in D major or are you going up to Eb?...Wish I could learn your version and with that substitute electric guitar wow!! Is there anywhere I can get that sheet music from?
+Greg Robinson I changed the key so NOT the same as the original...this key works better on sax. you can get the sheet music and this backing track from my site just follow the link in description above.
i have no doubt you are playing it...but are you actuallyplaying it in the video, or is it dubbed sound over video syncing? it seems not quite right for some reason, like you played it and mixed it in a studio then dubbed in the video.
Great job, didn't even see ya switch horns (lol). Funny, Raphael Ravenscroft hated the track because he said he was so out of tune. Not even in the band, he was simply called for a session with Rafferty (also now gone) and although the track became legend, he almost turned it down because he was too young and couldn't get there. Called R&R's most famous sax riff... and he went on to make music history. He passed 6 mo after you posted this... Oct 19th, 2014 @60 yrs old; way too young. Among many other projects Ravenscroft also did the theme for Blade Runner th-cam.com/video/YUBWOzS_4Ys/w-d-xo.html and toured with Pink Floyd for '83's The Final Cut and Marvin Gaye.
"Baker Street" terrified and basically traumatized me the first time I heard it as a kid. It wasn't just the sax solo, but the combination of the sax solo with the keyboards, strange lyrics, guitar solo...really the entire song was so creepy and scary to me. It still terrifies me decades later as an adult. I can't stand to listen to it at all.
he gives his soul through this ingredible instrument.the sound is perfect...
I have watched many covers. But his cover is most passionate. The saxy old man nailed it. #Respect_Sir
One of the best covers ...
So much vibrant energy in what was originally such a melancholy song.
Bravo sir, Bravo!

Dedos y un sax?

Could you mail me the notes from 3:20 sounds amazing!! Could I play that riff on my alto? Many thanks
Kyle
learn the D major scale, the riff on alto is using all the notes from that
0:21
Oh, look, a butterfly.
Even Bob Holness couldn't have played it better
didn't start off too great, but you did great, finished well!
can you do "beautiful" by damian marley?
sure
How you get your tenor to sound like that
+Johnny Ferreira why does ur alto only have 4 top keys? Mine has 5 :/
Some sax mark 4 , some 5 but the key is there and you can use it
Thankyou :-)
Wow!!!
is the Lisa's song in a simpson episode?
it is baker street, gerry rafferty made this, but also on simpson's lisa play that song :D
Yes
Gerry came 1st then Lisa :)
Is this a Tenor Saxophone?
so britich 🎷
The link for the sheet music is not working.
Eduan Steenkamp ok thanks for the heads up. it's working now.
This sax style is stereotypical to the point of excellence.
i have no doubt you are playing it...but are you actuallyplaying it in the video, or is it dubbed sound over video syncing? it seems not quite right for some reason, like you played it and mixed it in a studio then dubbed in the video.
good
I go mid d to high d and I sound miles out of key the aridgenal sax man said sax my have trouble with it
Great job, didn't even see ya switch horns (lol). Funny, Raphael Ravenscroft hated the track because he said he was so out of tune. Which kind of tenor sax have u used?
+Stefano Mocatti I think it is a Selmer Mark 6 that Johnny is using.
+Gillian Ruane Tes the tenor is a M6 and the alto is a Trevor James
trevor james signature i think ?
What mouth piece do u use on your alto?
I used a Claude Lakey on that.
esta en otra tonalidad..igual toca mortal xd
that is a tenor sax? or alto?
It's alto
He switched between alto and tenor
arrebento no solo!
é ss
RIP THAT SHIT!
Casually whips out the alto
Jay Leno?
Jay Leno couldn't put a reed on sax or polish Johnny's boots

the six people that disliked this are the people I'm ready to fight
fierce!!!
