  • Sydney Airport, Sunday Morning and heading to Los Angeles on Qantas Flight QF11.
After checking in, some time was spent in the Qantas First Lounge, after a great breakfast it was time to head to Gate 8, and start boarding.
Due to very strong tail winds, and a much shorter than usual flight time, boarding was delayed by approx 40 minutes. We still arrived in to LAX 15 minutes early which meant we had to wait on the plane as they do not allow de-planing of passengers until 6am which is when immigration opens up.
Smooth flight, had the Plant Based option for dinner, followed by an ice cream bar, and hot chocolate.
Mid-Flight snack was a very tasty Ciabatta, a coffee and cookie were enjoyed between the snack service and breakfast.
Breakfast was a fruit salad, yoghurt and muffin.
As usual, the crew onboard provided exemplary service.

Hey mate, flying on the same in a weeks time..2 things to know. I hope sides to the the left of the aircraft is good as we don't have to stare at the morning sun when flying to lax. Also can we climb up to top deck just for a walk through the stairs?

Given QF11 is now an afternoon arrival the sun won't be a huge factor, however, due to the direction of the aircraft the left side will most likely get more direct sunlight over the right side (aircraft tracks in a North Easterly direction). Economy passengers are not permitted upstairs, there is a gate at the top of the stairs at the back of the aircraft restricting access. And you cannot enter the First Class cabin at the front to access the stairway to upstairs)
Best bet is to ask a crew member if you can deplane the aircraft upon arrival into LAX via upstairs to have a look at the Premium Economy and Business Class cabins.

Nice to see you didn't end up in a mysterious island.

I hope I'm as lucky to get a half empty plane like that

Where possible I try & fly on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Not during School Holidays, and pray to the aviation gods… seems to work 60-70% of the time.

@@ausflyer there's hope for me yet 🙂 Flying out of Brisbane (10pm) on a Tuesday in November. Will definitely send a prayer up to the aviation gods 😀

If so I will pray for you as well.

Did you check in a bag? Were they strict with the weight. How was the food and seat comfort(aka recline)

    • @ausflyer
      @ausflyer  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

All checked bags are weighed, so there is no flexibility if you are over, but you do have a weight allowance of 32kg (70lb). Food is good, and plentiful (lots of snack options outside of the 2 main meals and mid-flight hot snack. For economy, the seats are fine, with ample recline.

I wish the plane was that empty whenever I fly, they're always packed to the max.

@@lyndamartin1109 I tend to find flying on Tuesdays & Thursdays helps. Plus in low demand times (ie never during holiday periods).

US flights are more about the size of your luggage, rather than the weight. So the weight allowance is greater than say a flight to Europe or NZ for example.
