There is only one latch/unlatch bit There is only one latch/unlatch bit, and it is an internal bit i.e. it does NOT represent a direct input from a sensor or output to a motor or a pump or a lamp. The most important thing to understand is that the latch/unlatch bit represents the LAST state CHANGE of the level inputs; it does not represent the CURRENT STATE of those inputs, nor does it represent anything about the motor or pump. The latch/unlatch bit is internal to (part of) the PLC program so the PLC can keep track of the last level sensor that CHANGED i.e. whether the last level event was a high (latch/unlatch bit value is 1 i.e. latched on Rung 2) or a low (latch/unlatch bit value is 0 i.e. unlatched on Rung 3). The latch/unlatch bit is the bit in the contact input labeled "Latch/Unlatch" on the first rung; it is the bit in the coil labeled "Latch Coil" on the second rung; it is the bit in the coil labeled "Unlatch Coil" on the third rung. it does not represent a direct input or output At 1:42-1:47, the audio says that the "water falling below the low sensor switch stops the discharge pump motor;" that is correct but not the whole story. It would be more accurate to state the water falling below the low sensor switch assigns a 0 to the value of the latch/unlatch bit (on Rung 3), and that latch/unlatch bit value of 0 is what actually stops the pump motor (on the next scan, on Rung 1, lower branch, Latch/Unlatch contact).
Please I want to control up to 9 tanks with 3 pumps from 1 borehole. 1 pump feeds 3 tanks, but if the 4th tank goes Low, the 2nd pump comes on and if the 7th tank goes Low, the 3rd pump comes on. The 3rd pump goes OFF when we have less than 7 tanks, and the 2nd pump goes OFF whenever we have less than 4 tanks in service. This implementation can allow 9 tenants to automatically / manually control their water tank levels without some tenants taking water every time to the detriment of other working - class tenants who visit home late in the nights after work. Each time a tank is Low, a pump will come on, a valve will open...two tanks...3 tanks the same pump..if a 4th tank is empty, the particular valve opens and the 2nd pump comes into service...but if 1 or 2 tanks are filled, 1 pump drops off...etc .thank You. My pumps here are for tank filling, not for tank discharge... the discharge shall be manually by domestic consumptions..tanx..
