- Greetings from Fairfield Iowa!
This week we share and try a new technique of removing paint from our beardboard porch ceiling.
The we repaint the beardboard its original color from 1896, so we can install our new old restored original early 1900s Victorian Porch Light!
That's 3 projects down but ALOT more to do while restore our 1896 Victorian Mansion.

Beautiful house.
That's a beautiful color. I love purple hues 👍
Fantastic Job!!!! love the plum color too. Never would have thought to use a calk gun, genius. Thats going to be a hot job.
The porch ceiling is beautiful! Such a rich shade of plum. The ceiling light compliments the color and house very nicely. When lit up at night, the house gives off such a warm, cozy, inviting glow.
Great job on figuring out how to get the paint off between the beads...Beautiful color, much nicer than the blue! Gorgeous home!👍
Love the color!
Motel 6 Tom Bodek wow that took me way back. You guys are awesome to watch!! I just re-placed my back stoop to our Victorian. Was to rotten to save. I did put tongue and groove boards back. It had traditional deck boards which didn’t fit the home at all. Working on another porch soon. Thanks for the video!!
Perfect music for that work 😂😂 love what y'all doing 😊
Richard, great idea to use a caulk gun. Thankfully it worked. That’s a lot of work. More to keep you busy! I do like the plum color. Do you have a job that pays? Looking forward to seeing next weeks project. Take care and stay cool. Jan
Absolutely fabulous!
Lovely. It is so wonderful that you are bringing the house back to her original glory.
It’s good for the corn!
You two are amazing and I love your home. Beautiful colour, love from the UK 🇬🇧.
Love it
I really feel for you using that awkward heavy ladder that hurts your feet in prolonged use. Please pick yourself up the 5.5 Gorilla step ladder at Depot as I did!
It's lightweight easy to open and close with a 10 foot reach rated at 300 pounds. The top 2 steps are 12 inches deep easy on your feet and better stability, it also has a large storage tray that snaps in at the top and on the ladder when not in use. I love it so much when a lady bought it to do a small job to return it afterwards I told her take it out of my pay only $75! Great job BTW good luck 👍
@brucesamuelson7541 I've been looking for something lighter so I don't have to lug this heavy thing all the way to the 2nd and 3rd floors for other projects. Thanks for the suggestion.
@JamesABeckHouse You're most welcome. I can't recommend this ladder enough for that, it's ease of operation it's stability and yours while using it. You can even use 2 to hold a walk plank in between if you dare lol! Be safe and keep up the good work friend...
That is the second biggest caulk gun I've ever seen.
That's a great hue of purple! I love it, and wouldn't you know, that's my favorite color! We have a darker purple accent wall in our bedroom. Purple is a stunning color no matter how dark or light. How did you find out that was the color they used in the 1800's?
When we were stripping the ceiling we could see the different paint colors used just didn’t make it in the video. But will cover past house paint colors in a future episode as this color was used on other areas of the house that would surprise you.
@@JamesABeckHouse THAT is a cool idea, love it
