Hello Ian, I've got a question about Toko's wax recommendations on Toko US site. I've been reading them from time to time (not to get a recommendation for a specific competition, I am from Europe, more like to get a ballpark of how to wax in different conditions) and I noticed for glide it always follows a formula that looks somewhat like this: Hot Wax HP then HP Liquid Paraffin, if you dont have Liquid Paraffin then BP Hot Wax then HP Hot Wax (exact colors of waxes/liquid paraffines of course hugely dependent on the conditions). So my question is why e.g. BP Hot Wax Blue before HP Hot Wax Red (this is a combination I've seen a lot in red conditions) and not HP Hot Wax Blue then HP Hot Wax Red? Do HP waxes do not work well together, even if you iron them in seperately and scrape and brush between them?
Hi Igor, no using the HP waxes as a base paraffin layer is totally fine. This recommendation is purely meant as a money saving and respect thing. If you test BP Blue hot wax covered by HP Blue or Red hot wax against HP Blue hot wax covered by HP Blue or Red hot wax, they will test similarly. This becomes even more so when you consider adding a topcoat such as the new Jet Products. So while this may be done on the World Cup, we look to where the real value lies out of respect and consideration for ski racers who aren’t on the World Cup. Thanks
Super Ian, and it's exactly what I'd recommend to for this class of skier which these days includes myself.
Thanks!
