Thank you for the video review of your gear. I align with a lot of your gear review except the quiver portion. Been using Salomon QST106 as my daily for years now and just recently added the Salomon Stance 96 as more of a daily and hoping to progress my carving capabilities. I do have a light setup of Atomic Backlands for uphill/touring as well and really love'em. Definitely would like to add a deep pow day ski to my quiver at some point and if I become more proficient at carving a true dedicated groomer ski (my least favorite place to be on the mountain at the moment).
Just came across your channel and with the season approaching I can’t stop watching! Badass skiing and editing man! As a skier from northeast Ohio it is really hard to watch. It seems like every year the local resorts in pa and New York get less and less snow. Made a trip to Jay peak and keystone last year and this year I have one planned for Breck and one for park city and I’ve never been to either. Never been to Utah. Taking two trips west per year is the only way to make it exciting living here lol. Jealous you get that every day man. Keep up the good work/videos 🤘
welcome man! glad you like the videos. two trips per year is super solid though so good on you for making the haul! breck and park city are both awesome mountains so good choice. be safe!
My favorite secret gem in terms of ski gear are my Kinco Heavy Duty Grain & Suede Pigskin Mittens. $40, each season I put on some Nikwax and they never have a problem, are extremely warm. 100% worth a look for the price
Hey Lucas! Awsome lineup of skis and gear this year. I just got my first pair of new unused skis and I went with the Atomic Bentchetler 100’s. So stoked!
I ended up picking up 2024 Arv 116 JJs last year after seeing how much you enjoyed your own Armada skis. For sure my favorite ski I've ridden. Such a great ski for Utah
i work in the outdoor industry and layering is a huge thing, if it’s really cold i suggest using some kind of fleece pant as they wick moisture unlike cotton and they insulate great, might feel better than doubling up base layers
I wear my beanie on my head too!!! Looking forward to your vids to start dropping. We are stoked, weeks away from first turns. Cheers from the East man!
First season of skiing was last year, ran on rentals all season and got really good. Bought some 2024 elan playmakers 91’s. More of a free ride/all mount so I can learn and get better. Can’t wait I am so excited!
love the vid. Cant wait for the season! are you going to ski the new terrain at DV this winter. its not Much or Advanced Terrain but It's exciting to see whats to come. MUCH More Coming to DV
good question. i think it really comes down to the flex profile and the composition of the skis. the JJ is traditionally a little softer of a skier, albeit it is made from the stiffer poplar ash core. i would say the JJ is equally stiff/soft from the tip right on through the tail. the whitewalker (WW) is a stiffer ski, but it is made of the caruba core, which is a softer and lighter wood. furthermore, the WW is most stiff under the foot but actually softens up on the tip and tail - unlike the JJ that is uniformly the same flex throughout the ski. the WW is technically a stiffer ski, but on a softer wood - which I think is what I started to like about it. some of the downfalls of the WW to the JJ is that the edge is 1.7 compared to the JJ of 2.5, so for daily resort resiliency, i find that the JJ excels in this category as it is just a little beefier for day to day use. the skis really are very similar - thus, probably one of the reasons why they did away with the 116JJ but thats just my $0.02 on the two skis.
@@LucasCatania17 thanks for the detailed response! the 116 WW looks like a super fun ski and I'm honestly thinking about getting a pair, I cant find many retailers that are selling last year's model for a discount so it must have been super popular haha.
So sad the JJ 116 is getting discontinued. It'll be interesting to see how differently the 112 rides. My ski quiver consists of: 1) Faction Le Mono (monoski) 2) Armada JJ (2019) - same ones you had 3) Armada Magic J 127 (2023) 4) K2 Pon2oon 132 If you get a chance to ever try a monoski, do it. They are life-changing. I'm riding the monoski about 90%, completely different feeling then skiing but is easy to pickup. Looking forward to the ski vlogs. Cheers to a great season ahead!
Re: Boots. Have been skiing since I was a little kid and have gone through pretty much every brand at some stage. My tip for boots is to find the brand that matches your foot shape and stick to them. Tecnica make really good gear so they're worth a shot - but there are certain foot shapes that are incompatible with certain brands ...and no amount of work will change that.

I feel like you could definitely rock a 130 flex boot. I made that switch a few years ago and felt like I could ski with so much more power and precision. No regrets other than they’re less forgiving so you’ve got to be a strong skier, which you are.
Being new to the channel, I reviewed some old videos and saw he had Dalbello's but with(I think) a soft 100 flex tongue. He could easily buy a 130 tongue, they're pretty cheap, to see how he likes the 130 flex. I assume the Dalbello boots were a good fit before he switched to the Salomon.
