Moka pots come in these sizes: 1 cup ( Expresso size / 2 Fluid ounces ) ; 3 cup ( expresso size / 6.5 fluid ounces ) ; 6 cup ( Expresso size / 10 Fluid Ounces ) ; 9 cup ( expresso size / 18.5 Fluid ounces ).
A superior silicone gasket is avaliable to replace the factory rubber gasket. The Factory rubber gasket should be replaced with the superior silicone one.
🥰 Thanks so much
Rubber is superior
There are pros and Cons to both silicone and rubber. I use both, though I prefere the original rubber better as well. : )
I was surprised to see hers had two rubber gaskets!
I wonder what brand it is.
its "espresso" not "expresso" @ferndog1461
Dominican here 🇩🇴 thank you for this video ! Much appreciated
You’re welcome mija. Thanks for watching. Muchas bendiciones!
Gracias Chef Lelita.
Muchas bendiciones
Kind sincere reply noted. ✌️
Great info, I just restored mine using this information! Plus I like how you talk, New York!
😂 Thank you
You can also clean that funnel container (if construction allows it, but it usually does). Just use the wooden or plastic stick and _gently and slowly_ push out the plate from inside the funnel trying not to bend it. If moka pot was not maintained for a long time, or not always cleaned right after brewing the residue will collect there and with time will turn into dense burned coffee layer.
I stopped using my mothers moka pot and moved to jezva because it always felt like it was burned and sour, and only after I tried to deep clean it one last time, I noticed this charcoal goo clogged inside the funnel. Now pot is clean and coffee tastes normal again.
Thanks for your wealth of information & for watching. 🥰
Bialetti sells spare parts, including the funnel. When the rubber gasket looks that dark brown it’s best to replace it. The silicone version gasket is soak it overnight in water/vinegar 1/1
Saludos Lelita! Gracias por este excelente video. Lo haré hoy por tengo todo en mi cocina. Que tengas un bello día!
Bien hecho Chef Lelita! Gracias
Te aprecio para esto video porque nunca sabía hacer esto con el filtro. Pensé que estuvo limpiando mi cafetera correctamente.
This is truly AWESOME!!! Thank you for the share… 👍🏼😎
You’re welcome cariño. Thanks for watching. 🥰
Bar keepers friend or bon omi does a great job no need to waste salt
This is amazing! I always consider getting new ones but after watching your video I won’t. Thanks for these great inexpensive tips. I love your channel.
Thank you amiga. 🥰
Wow this great to know. Thanks for the tips!
Wow you got your cafetera looking like when you first got it. Ahora un cafecito la llave! 🗝️☕
Gracias. Así es cariño. 😂
Wonderful & informative video. Thanks Lelita.
Hi Lelita thank you for sharing this.
Thanks for watching honey 🥰
This is so wonderful!
I never knew this. Thank you
Que bueno Lelita!
To clean inside the pot use a half and half mix of water and white vinegar and then pretend you are making coffee , ie put it on the heat and percolate . Then repeat with just water until the water gathered in the collection bowl at the top is clean . Then use it to make coffee as normal . ..... not my advise , but gleaned from elsewhere on youtube ..... seems like good advise and I will by doing this work soon .
Thank you so much. I appreciate the advice. 🥰
👍
Thanks for watching 🥰
Great!!!!
I took out the rubber seal and put all the other parts into the dishwasher. When I removed the moka pot, the inside of the carafe was tarnished. As I wiped it out with a paper towel, I noticed black on the towel and on my fingers. Eventually, I think that I removed all the black tarnish after washing the pieces with vinegar and baking soda. My question is, did I ruin the pot? Can I clean it as shown in the video and no longer worry about the return of the black?
It’s not dishwasher safe. Moka are made with Aluminum just like Calderos so when you dishwash them it removes the coating and turns black. I do prefer stainless steel Moka pots because they’re dishwasher safe.
@@Lelitascubankitchen I realize that, but my question is, is there a way that I can clean it so that it will be usable?
@@LelitascubankitchenI didn't know they made stainless steel mochas. Hmmmm
Awesome video , how many went removal filter lol
😂
Wow👏🏼💪🏽
Thank you amiga 😊
Thanks.
What is this made of? I have aluminum percolators I know need a good cleaning.
It’s water, vinegar, salt
@@Lelitascubankitchen oh, I meant the pot. I apologize. Haha
I believe it is aluminum
Idk how it happened cuz I’m pretty good at keep my kitchen area clean. But my Moka was put away with coffee grounds in it after used. For weeks! Went moldy. Can I clean and use or should I just bite the bullet and purchase a new one?
Oh no! You should buy another one.
I never knew it had a removable filter. I have not been cleaning mine properly for a long time. Lol
U R not alone. I bet some have never been cleaned once in a decade. LOL
There is NOT a removable filter in a REAL Moka Express! Definitely not one that can be cleaned with a wooden or plastic stick! She must be talking about a different coffee “pot”!
Thank you
Great video
My mother and abuela used lemon juice, salt and brillo.
Wrong!! Never use Brillo or any abrasive stuff on a Moka express!!
@@Nivushka8please explain sir. I'm curious
@@browner420 the moka express is washed with water ONLY and a soft cloth used only for this! NO soap or dishwasher or any other stuff that can alter the coffee taste!! NO Brillo or any abrasive material should be used to clean the Moka Express EVER !!! All this if one want to taste good, real, Italian coffee!! Any other “flavoured” method will alter the coffee taste! Once in a while it can be through cleaned by separating every part and soaked in water and white vinegar ( vinegar evaporate without leaving taste).
Those instructions are in the manual included in the box when you buy the Moka!! Of course there are “ Moka “ imitations out there, so , I can't “express” about those ones!
Cometí el brillante error de ponerme cafetera en el Lavavajillas y ahora se ve opaca. ¿Crees que tenga solución?
Es importante limpiar y pulir plata. Tomar un paño para pulir la cafetera .
I think it is way better if you regularly clean up the pot. Don't need to wait until it is so dirty!
It is
@@Lelitascubankitchen Thank you for the useful tips, tho!
why does your moka pot have two gaskets?
I don’t know
Not recommended for daily use Moka Pots. For a decorative Moka pot, this is an acceptable way to clean your pot.
For daily use and consumption I do not recommend this technique, especially on the inside of the pot. The 2 main reasons are:
1: You WANT the seasoning on the pot. just as with a cast iron pan, hand wash with water, NO SOAP, is just fine.
2: The citrus is caustic to the aluminum AND moreso to the Zink coating that is often applied to the insides of most quality Moka pots to prevent aluminum leaching into your coffee as you cook it. Adding the salt as an abrasive only wears the finish and protective coatings away faster.
There other other reasons as well... but these 2 are the most important.
If you're going to be drinking from it... Handwashing without soap, and boiling a run of water thru it if not used in a long time is enough.
Learn to appreciate the patina and enhanced flavoring of the seasoning as it naturally occurs... weather over an electric or gas stove, or, from daily coffee over an open fire... (both in my case), and it will serve you dependably for generations. : )
Thank you 😊
@@Lelitascubankitchen wow, I never expected a response. Thank you. You have a very nice channel. Wishing you a beautiful day. 😊
My only critique would be calling it an espresso maker. Moka pots do not make espresso. They do make a stronger brew of coffee than most other coffee makers. There is some pressure, which is why they extract more flavors than even a French press would do. However, they can't reach the proper pressure level to be called espresso.
It does make espresso...espresso means "quick" shot of strong coffee
@@paullacerda4459 …and with very fresh beans ground properly you will also get a very thick crema on your espresso, assuming you don’t over brew the shot 😎
It is cafeteria not cafetera
It’s Cafetera. We say it that way in Cuba.
Shut up it’s CAFETERA @Photostoryhr
Lelita is correct. We say cafetera in Cuba. Ask any Cuban.
The original Moka is made by Bialetti and in italian it is cafeteria. You should have some manners and not reply SHUT UP just because we disagree. @@user-ku8li5lt6f

why does your moka pot have two gaskets?
Generally they have only one. I have no idea. It came that way. All of my others have just one.
