    I think if you leave "Allow Apps to Request To Track" off, they are automatically blocked from being able to access your advertising ID - so if you want to specifically allow apps to give you ads you can leave it on, or if you dont want any to, just leave it off.

    Can someone here help me out. I uninstalled Whatsapp many months ago when it hit the news that they were now going to collect all kinds of private data because of Facebook. I live in South America and everyone is literally on Whatsapp. My question is, as an iPhone user. Now that Apple implemented data tracking and opting out of facebooks data splurging. Can I install Whatsapp again without compromising my personal data? Can I opt out of it getting any of my data like contacts, media, etc?

    • @OneTechMind
      @OneTechMind  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there! Great questions. App Tracking Transparency rules may protect against tracking, but this doesn’t cut off a developer’s access to your data.
      Apple has other controls that allow you to fine-tune some of these settings per-app. For instance, you can restrict WhatsApp access to only a subset of pictures in your photo library, as opposed to the whole thing. There are similar settings for location data and contacts as well. This article covers these kind of settings in greater detail specific to WhatsApp. Hope this helps! www.consumerreports.org/privacy/how-to-use-whatsapp-privacy-settings/

    Hi again, I recently learnt that in case I acquire a user from my website to my iOS app (without using advertisers like Meta) than I still can track "everything". Is that true?
    Next question: is there some kind of 24/48/72 hours window in which I can trackin every action from the useres (regardless of the marketing channel the user used)?

    Sooo... If you turn the "request " off... they don't "request" permission anymore? and they just track you? Because ive seen you tube videos saying the opposite.... If you turn this function on, it forces the app to ask you permission to track?
    Ive yet to see a clear and definite explanation of this.

    • @OneTechMind
      @OneTechMind  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you deny permission, the app and developer is supposed to take that decision into account and not track you. Some have been caught still tracking despite this. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s a good first step.

    Very good video and relevant content. I think though that your analysis is not fully correct. Apple doesn't have their core business model revolving around digital advertising, thus it is easy for them to implement a feature like ATT. And conveniently enough, once it erodes part of the market share for some of the big players in the digital ads space, all of a sudden now Apple is venturing more into this same space. It is an understandable competitive move, and it is not for me to judge whether it is legal or not. All I am saying is that Apple is doing its own interests, again understandably so, and they are rebranding a convenient competitive position and general social and political landscape, to expand their ads market
