I think it's really weird to compare "new girlies" to "old girlies" because we don't have hindsight on the new girls. You won't know how well the new girls will do because they haven't had their full careers yet. Honestly the success of the newer generations of ex Disney girls isn’t even correlated to their time on Disney at all. For instance, I don’t even consider artists like Olivia Rodrigo or Sabrina Carpenter as Disney ex acts because they gained success from their music instead of from their Disney shows. By the time they were on Disney, the channel was already declining. Obviously they did gain some following but their Disney shows were not as impactful as prior shows. For instance, so many people didn’t even know Olivia was on Disney when Drivers License was released. Her debut single was the reason she had success. Unlike artists like Selena Gomez or Miley Cyrus who had major success from their Disney shows and then went on to gain bigger success from their music careers.

I get what you’re saying abt Marina’s two different writing styles. It’s either very introspective pop bangers about her personal life, or activism anthems that can sometimes fall over the line into making the listener go “girl alright”. However, “Man’s World” may legitimately be one of her best written/performed/produced songs, and imo is the only time she fully hit the anthemic writing style on the head most likely because it’s also drawing from her experiences as a woman. It was in essence a perfect melding of her two writing and performance styles.

29:10 country music won’t fully pop “mainstream” frfr until it breaks down that glass barrier of racism and allow other artists beyond white people to gain notoriety in that genre. I’ve seen Latin country artists, black country artists, Asian country artists that all deserve attention in one way or another but nope, all you see at any award show or country related platforms is by majority- severely whitewashed. Until those gatekeepers release themselves from their own racial prejudices country will never be as appealing as any other genre that’s more inclusive & whole heartedly welcoming to its artists that create music from it. Country doesn’t give that, the country realm of the music industry is very isolated, lacks creativity & COLOR, very white, and very bland/uninspiring. They need to accept more people of other demographics in if people ever want to see country as a too genre. That goes for ANY popular genre that gets commercialized- you have GOT to be more inclusive if you want mainstream success across the board.

I dont want to sound like the typical non American but I also think the lack of growth of country outside of America is a factor, Latin America, East and South East Asia, Europe and MENA don't like country and generally when country artists tour outside (Luke Combs for example toured to other 7 or 8 countries but most of his audience was Americans outside of America, I think it had to do like you said with racism, at least in Europe there is an image of country as "redneck racist" music

She was really funny in KC Undercover and had some funny moments in Euphoria as well. Taylor Swift is always front and center. Idk how much she paid her publicist but she really made sure to get the most screen time these past few years to the point where it's unwatchable. They should do a multiple angle view like it's CCTV or create separate streams for each angle. The Swifties can have all of her.

Taylor hit completely new peak of fame and success these past few years and awards shows center on her because she brings the audience. Taylor has a huge fanbase, so the more they show the bigger change her fans will tune in. NFL does the same thing with showing her while she's just watching the game as everybody else in that stadium.
At the last VMA's she had camera right in front of her monitoring her every move, she felt so uncomfortable that she left to backstage and was absent for majority of the show.

She has five songs of her own and only her debut made a tiny bit of noise for a week then poof, silence. Talented but she belongs in a group with members who carried what she lacked (jade and Leigh Anne) unpopular opinion again, I think Leigh Anne has the most potential in America out of the girls, jade is great but she will be overshadowed by all the other pop girls especially chapel Rowan who is doing the chaotic stuff jade is trying to do. Unpopular, jade needs to stop with the talking singing and trying hard to be quirky and “different “ I want to hear more pop and RnB from her not just the gay club anthems she is targeting.

I definitely agree on the point of zendaya as well as your point on being better when she’s more expressive and yes I watched dune part 2 and challengers in fact those two movies made me truly realize how average of a actress she is especially when compared to her co stars in both films, I feel Z’s problem is she’s been thrust into the A-list movie star status quickly while she was still developing as a actress, it kinda enabled her to be nite picky with her roles, as suppose to growing and experimenting as a actress, it’s a similar issue to many other gen z actors/actresses like Florence Pugh, Tom holland, Nicholas Chavez etc a lot of them aren’t being strategically smart with the picks they do and as a result a lot of them lack dynamics, versatility and top tier acting strengths or some are just being cast for their good looks and social media following/popularity

Honestly I think Pitchfork made the BEST critique for Electra Heart! 🤐
I strongly disagree with Electra Heart being Marina's best album, the album is tacky and pointless to me despite a few songs. I've read professional reviews that breakdown the album's flaws - the "concepts" are weak. The corruption of a young American beauty queen is really a trope not a true "character", a trope done by a TV show and even another artist (apparently Desperate Housewives, Lana Del Rey). According to the reviews, Marina doesn't deliver any fresh insights with the tropes on the album, her comments on shallowness are shallow themselves. I agree with them.

I have an opinion for K-Pop which is kinda like an essay but here it might be important :
    Chat gpt corrected :
No shade to the new groups from the 2010s, but it's partly their fault that boybands and girlbands have disappeared from the Western music industry. It’s also why many people think K-pop came out of nowhere, when in reality, it’s heavily influenced by the idol training system that originated in the West-specifically from Black American music traditions.
Back in the '90s and 2000s, many producers and teams that worked in the U.S. transitioned to Asia. This shift coincided with the rise of J-pop, which was inspired by Motown and the idol training systems. These systems were refined into what we now associate with K-pop. When K-pop began gaining global recognition in the late 2000s (around 2007), the last significant Western boyband was Big Time Rush. By the time BTS and Blackpink debuted, the Western boyband/girlband landscape was disorganized, with groups either trying to look “authentic” or disbanding altogether.
I hope newer groups like Boysworld (RIP), FLO, No Guidnce, Full Circle, and Absnt Mind can inspire executives to reclaim the boyband/girlband legacy in the Western pop industry.
No shade, but companies like JYP and HYBE act like they’ve invented something groundbreaking with “K-pop training” in the U.S. and Japan, as seen with groups like NiziU, VCHA, KATSEYE, and NEXZ. However, the idol training system they’re using originated in the U.S. and Japan decades ago.
Let’s not forget how many groups in the 2000s and 2010s trained in cities like Los Angeles, Orlando, New York, or Tokyo. Music shows, a cornerstone of K-pop, were heavily inspired by MTV. Why else would MTV expand its format to Korea?
Groups like One Direction, Little Mix, Why Don’t We, and Fifth Harmony didn’t help much either. They emphasized being “authentic” but failed to realize that authenticity and cohesive branding aren’t mutually exclusive. Even rock bands managed to maintain individuality while still presenting as a unified group. Thankfully, groups like Little Mix figured this out and thrived.
Now, K-pop labels like HYBE and K-pop stans act as though K-pop is the next big thing globally. But the truth is, what’s missing from the music industry in general is pop music itself. Japan’s restricted music export policies and the U.S. neglecting its pop groups left a void that K-pop filled.
From what I’ve noticed (speaking as someone who’s followed this since I was 12), K-pop’s global success is largely due to marketing strategies that Western pop stars used to excel at. K-pop creates a sense of FOMO (fear of missing out), making people believe they're witnessing the next big thing-even if that isn’t always the case.
It’s also worth noting that K-pop often appropriates elements of Black culture and music to fuel its success. This is part of a broader marketing strategy to adapt what works in their domestic market, blend it with external influences (like J-pop or Afrobeat sounds), and then drop those influences once they achieve global success.
Meanwhile, the U.S. music industry stopped investing in cohesive, label-driven pop groups, preferring artists who could gain popularity “organically” while maintaining authenticity. Ironically, K-pop executives-heavily influenced by U.S. and J-pop A&Rs-invested in this exact system and turned it into a global phenomenon. At what point do we call it cultural colonization?
