@Seer idk if you read these comments but i got a pretty old school game you should look into, one of the most phenominal, Champions of Norrath, and Champions Return to Arms, both in everquest universe, and imo very well done, great game of 2005. it is an ARPG.
I liked ocarina of time as a kid but I really enjoyed windwaker and still fondly remember windwaker. Windwaker and skyward sword had drops from enemies encouraging combat.
I have tried on 3 occasions to play OOT and did not get to hyrule castle on any of them. I don’t even particularly like Zelda games, except those open world ones. And even then I just like the ragdoll physics and sandbox aspects. If I want a story, I’ll read a dang book
I have inhaled every video this man has managed to tourette syndrome out of his moutbreathing apparatus, but that bit at 7:50 transcended reality and I was teleported back to when my mother would cut the crust off my sandwiches knowing they were my favourite part.
Ocarina of Time is my second favorite game, but I agree with this video so much. Half of the items being near useless, for example. I wanna see a 3D Zelda game that only has a sword and shield. No items, no magic. Just go real in depth with the swordplay, and make fighting even the normal enemies interesting. Zelda 2 is pretty close to what I'm thinking of, but 2D of course.
So... Breath of the Wild, basically. Although that game didn't go in with the swordplay and failed to make even the normal enemies interesting, so I guess not. You ever play Dark Souls?
@@xSilentZeroXx Not really Breath of the Wild. Skyward Sword is a step closer to what I'm thinking. I'm talking about things like the stances you take. Weird techniques such as halfswording, which is holding a sword by its blade and striking with the hilt as an improvized mace to defeat armor. Since Ocarina of Time's combat is based on chanbara, maybe base this hypotetical game on kenjutsu. Or perhapse techniques for whatever kind of sword the Master Sword is supposed to be. Longsword, I guess? Bastard Sword? I have played and enjoyed Dark Souls, but it's only superficially similar to Zelda. DS is basically a trek from bossfight to bossfight. I would still want Zelda elements of exploring an open world and dungeon crawling. Just more focused. That's the key word: focus. DS has bows, magic, and some items, I wouldn't waste a second of development time creating any of that.
Like every boss fight in any game its all about learning the correct patters and weaknesses to exploit. The story, puzzles and exploration is far more interactive and requires more trial and error than botw and totk. The game is incredible and embodies what every game should have. The enemies that you can ignore are generally fun to fight plus some of them you would do better not to ignore. The only bad part is the aim for the mini games due to limitations for the system of its time
Seer havent you learned, Nintendo has created every concept and innovation in videogaming history. If you dont agree their cult members will come for you
With every video, Seer is getting more deranged. Moving to Australia has made it almost impossible to catch his lives, but his descent into madness is amuzing to... well, seer.
I think Ocarina is considered the greatest game of all time, as it was the greatest game to have ever release. Most new "best games" have not had nowhere the impact that Ocarina had. Having lived through that age, I can confidently tell you that Ocarina was something else. It hit hard in so many ways and pioneered so much. It was an experience and gaming revolution. So the "greatest and most highly rated game ever released" aspect comes into play when considering the actual impact at the time of release. While gaming has evolved a lot since then, and many remarkable games have come out (oot is not even my favorite Zelda), none have managed to make that same splash and wow-factor as Ocarina had during their releases.
I recently played and finished Ocarina of Time and you're right, the movement is complete ass. I noticed that from my first hour of gameplay. I don't know if it was a problem with my emulator (Project64), but all the other N64 games I've emulated all control fluently and like normal games. Ocarina feels like it has this weird input delay on movement. And there's a LOT of first-person aiming involved in playing the game and it's just atrocious, truly one of the worst-controlling things I've played in any game ever. The aim is super sensitive, with it feeling like trying to aim with like 3000 DPI on a mouse (except worse because it's a thumbstick), and worst of all, the vertical aiming controls are inverted with no way to disable it in-game. "But that was just the standard control scheme for the time, no games had the option to toggle inverted controls." First off that's not an argument. If something is ass, it's ass, even if that was the standard at the time. And there were other games, even on the N64, that came with the option to toggle inverted controls. Also on the subject of controls, nobody ever seems to mention that the entire D-pad is bound to nothing in OoT. That's just 4 buttons on a controller that already had very limited button real-estate completely unused. Even for menuing, which you spend a lot of time doing over the course of the game and just feels sticky and imprecise with the thumbstick. Good game with a nice, connected-feeling world and charming art style and characters, but someone has to be truly cracked-out on crack to call it "the best game of all time."
I gotta say xD... (now that I'm 8 minutes into this review). I had a couple of laughs because I dont mind agreeing with alternate viewpoints and finding any take great from another perspective (whether I agree or not.. man I'd love to meet people like myself. I did meet a few, but they're.. rarer than politicians that care about their Country). So I just wanted to say that you criticize "not from that time" a lot, but did the same mistake when defending the link to the past (which I loved as much as oot, but yea).. the nostalgia from discovery from a younger self is hard to dismiss [unless you've played link to the past recently.. then I'd have to retract this last statement :P]. Thank you!
I like sad/melancholic things. There are a couple of scenes in OoT that get to me more than any other game, which is why I would put OoT in the running for my favorite game. Other than that I think it's solid, but I actually don't really understand why so many other people love OoT so much. Tried to play Majora's Mask but the time mechanic drives me insane. Link to the Past was great gameplay-wise imho.
Ocarina of Time was a massive disappointment to 8 year old me. Everybody else loved it, but I thought Link to the Past, Zelda 1, and even Zelda 2 were far more fun. To be fair, I love Zelda 2 so my opinion is automatically invalid. Thankfully we got Oracle or Ages/Seasons just after and that was the last time I loved Zelda despite playing virtually every game in the series since. Bombchus though? God I loved Bombchus. Great video, Seer.
Ohh nice, a chad Zelda 2 fan in my midst! Don't worry, I have your back on that point, I also love that game despite it being probably not that objectively good lol. But to be fair, I think I have a bias towards 2d Zelda in general, I feel like they are just simple and easy fun comparatively to the 3d games.
I have all the nostalgia for this game. Obsessed when I was a wee babby, played a bunch as a kid, and finally beat the game as a teen. This game blows. You’d literally have to pay me money to play this again. This game has so much goddamn waiting. Combat is waiting forever for openings. Exploring is waiting for NPC’s to stfu. Dungeons is waiting for a key for that one locked door. Story is waiting for something interesting to happen (pro tip, only two important events happen before the ending) Screw this game
I like MM more than OoT, if someone hate the time factor then fair, surely that would damper the game for you but it offers something for people who don't mind it and ideally loves it. OoT though? Randomizers aside I would play LttP first as for me at least it is more or less the same but with less cutscenes. I'm aware Faster Quest mod exist for OoT but LttP basically have that built in AND have other things I like. Hyrule Field is neat but doesn't save OoT once you learn there is nothing of value in it.
While I don't like a few of the Zelda games (Ocarina included), it's not because they're bad games. It's mostly just because I think almost all of the enemy and character designs are either terrible or lame looking. Ganon is the only character that's cool or appropriate looking in ever release (except for Wind Waker, but that thing is a visual oddity anyways). Twilight Princess and Tears/Breath I could enjoy for the enemy design alone.
Oh man Seer naysaying OoT on the internet. He doesn't fear the planks of wood the rabid fanbase is going to crucify him on. He'll just flex the nails out of his flesh.
I'm glad Seer agrees with me. OoT is the only LoZ game I've dropped because I got bored... Meanwhile Majora's Mask is my favourite Zelda, so the era isn't the problem.
This script dropping absolute shit bombs of truth. Well done lord seer... and yes A link to the Past is head and shoulders superior to Ocarina - having played both in their hayday
Ya know how teachers have you answer questions like "what did the author mean by this...?" and stuff? Like having you look for a deeper meaning or just basically make up shit to praise the writing/author more? I feel like thats what people do with those older Zelda games. People just MILK the fuck out of the game to reach for straws to make new points to praise the game on.
I look at Ocarina of Time a lot like I look at milk It was great when you used it as soon as it was put on the shelf. A couple -weeks- years later, not so much...

Anyone who dissects and disrespects this game this much like in this and Egoraptor video is just one of those people that doesn't get "it". What is it? It is Ocarina of freaking time. Hello. One of the best games ever made, one of the most revolutionary games ever made, a game that made the transition from 2D to 3D as good as you can possibly imagine for 1998. In 2024 is is the best Zelda still? That's another conversation, but is it still a masterpiece? You bet your sweet bum it is lol.
@@WolvesBaseballNinethe great thing about subjectivity is I can never take away your nostalgia huffing tendencies for this game and how much you love. That's awesome and everyone is so happy you love it. The great thing about objectivity is there are standards we measure things by and standards change over time. This game didn't age well by modern standards. Was it groundbreaking for it's time? Yeah of course it was and no one doubts that. Is it fun to play today? Absolutely not. Also saying skill issue for a game this old and clunky is actually so cringe
Dude, you’re so funny! Please, keep it up!
Holy crap, did I seriously hear The Incredible Machine? I thought my dad and I were the only people who remembered that game
9:24 damn I missed that hidden OOT cutscene guess I have to go back and 100% now
the song at the end is masterpiece.
In short, all I have to say, which I can't emphasize enough: Balls.
Seer still pumping out the best.
Favorite TH-cam ape for sure.
Ocarina of L < Winwaker
I agree; The Incredible Machine is the Greatest Game of All Time
This is definitely my favorite Seer video, absolutely the hottest the writing has ever been, and definitely really valid critiques.
@Seer idk if you read these comments but i got a pretty old school game you should look into, one of the most phenominal, Champions of Norrath, and Champions Return to Arms, both in everquest universe, and imo very well done, great game of 2005. it is an ARPG.
Best review of Minecraft Dungeons! Best ARPG confirmed!
Why are seer's Videos akin to the "Akira" meme, i just keep beinng pinged in the head with thoughts i didn't want to think!
OoT is just 3D Adventure of Link's Awakening, change my mind

SEER SAID BALLSACK
thanks seer, that's what I come here for
Can’t tell if this is for April fools or not bc I’m completely convinced now that this game stinks as someone who never experienced it personally
I recommend playing it so you can say you're a well-read gamer. It's one of the classics. Just happens to be a bad classic is all 🤷♂️
Yeah you should at least try it. It’s personally my favorite game of all time. Doesn’t mean it’s for everyone but it’s huge part of gaming history.
If you dont agree their cult members will come for you
7:55 felt like a character break
I also played it back when it was 'current' and I also didn't like it. So there's at least two of us.
Fuck me 8:19 fucking annihilated me, Man is losing it in real time.
With every video, Seer is getting more deranged. Moving to Australia has made it almost impossible to catch his lives, but his descent into madness is amuzing to... well, seer.
Seer's writing is getting better by the video
Odd how he isn't on the rise like Sseth, man
@11:02 Did I hear, "The Adventures of Willy Beamish"?
I can't wait to hear my favorite TH-camr to say the F word 8 time in a row
Big agree, always thought it was super overrated even back in the day when I first played it
I recently played and finished Ocarina of Time and you're right, the movement is complete ass.
7:50 - Seer, you alright my man?
Story is waiting for something interesting to happen (pro tip, only two important events happen before the ending)
Screw this game
I like MM more than OoT, if someone hate the time factor then fair, surely that would damper the game for you but it offers something for people who don't mind it and ideally loves it. OoT though? Randomizers aside I would play LttP first as for me at least it is more or less the same but with less cutscenes. I'm aware Faster Quest mod exist for OoT but LttP basically have that built in AND have other things I like. Hyrule Field is neat but doesn't save OoT once you learn there is nothing of value in it.
Totally missed out on saying the games title rhymes with Cocaina
OoT is cute, but I love Majora's Mask more. It also has flaws, but I still love it.
This must be an April Fools joke. A genuine opinion on the internet that isn't extreme? IMPOSSIBLE!
Great video seer. I hope you're not too harsh on minecraft dungeons tho ;p
OoT isn’t even a top 5 Zelda game, but that says more about the series than it does about OoT.
you raise good points but... It's still the best game ever made :)
Oh man Seer naysaying OoT on the internet. He doesn't fear the planks of wood the rabid fanbase is going to crucify him on. He'll just flex the nails out of his flesh.
My man really pulled out all the stops to make his deadline as a joke
I am so with you finally someone speaking the TRUTH
Wouldnt be surprised if Ocarina is just a circlejerk. Or maybe “best game” is just subjective
Will you cover warhammer inquisitor martyr on the best arpg list ?
I look at Ocarina of Time a lot like I look at milk
It was great when you used it as soon as it was put on the shelf. A couple -weeks- years later, not so much...
jokes on you, not use the green magic on the very fun water park, cutting your fun of swimming back there is the correct move.
This but unironically
i love the game, but still claiming its the best of all time is definitely not true
OH NO not the spiiiiiin at the phantom ganon x3
