    My friend and I went to Lava lounge when we visited LA Fortuna. I loved seeing all the dogs coming to say hi. I too have been involved with animal rescue all my life and since moving here I continue to do rescue 🙏. We came with 2 little chihuahua dogs and one cat from USA and we rescued 2 large dogs and 1 cat here in Costa Rica. We can't adopt anymore but we still rescue and foster. Great video Thanks for sharing. Wow 20 years 😊 Pura Vida.

      It's nice. A lot of gringo's who call Costa Rica home, take care of strays. Scott has been doing it for years and we know a few others personally in our area who also look out after them... and it's super cool when the area vets are on board with free spay and neutering. Thanx sandra.

    Michael, you need to follow up this video with a walk through of the property with Scott. Id really love to see more videos integrating different scenes. I guess its my ADHD. Lol

    Great interview. Scott seems down to earth. Every time my wife and I go to La Fortuna, we go to Lava Lounge...not 1 time, however everyday for a couple of beers and then a supper here and there. Gonna try Geckos next trip also. Thx.

    Great video Michael! You should do another video with your guest where he can expand on his history and the business that he currently runs. As always, thanks for posting!

    Sweet potata,, mashed potata, Costa Rica 🌺 Actually, this is a really great interview, I really enjoyed it! Thank you Michael! I have to say that there is a major problem in La Fortuna with stray cats, increasingly populating, the consequence is a Feline Leukemia epidemic

    • @TravelCostaRicaNOW
      @TravelCostaRicaNOW  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Glad you enjoyed it! and yes, you didn't used to see nearly the cats back in the day that you see now.

    Yep, I met him while we were in La Fortuna. It was an interesting conversation because I rescued dogs in the U.S. for many years before coming to Costa Rica. Thought I was retiring from it. But here I am, wading back in. It's much different here than rescue back in the States. Thank God. The biggest difference I see is exactly what you guys talked about in the video: people here are receptive to change. People in the U.S. can be very defensive and hostile. Yes, there are sad situations here with animals. But most of the time, they are based on neglect, not abject cruelty. My third novel was about the connection between animal abuse and violence against people. Mike, I'm going to email you a PDF copy of it. Can you forward that to Scott? I think he would be interested because of the subject matter.

      I can, no problem. It has definitely gotten much better here since we landed 18 years ago, so that's great. Still see the occasional short leash next to the house...but definitely headed in the right direction... and the fact they don't have kill shelters here.

    • @MMAnimalSanctuary_Rhonda
      @MMAnimalSanctuary_Rhonda ปีที่แล้ว +1

      e@@TravelCostaRicaNOW exactly. Which proves that kill shelters are not necessary. Not-so-coincidentally, the name of that novel is "High Kill."

    Hey Michael!! I just wanted to say thank you for all the videos! My two brothers and I are coming down (from Massachusetts) next month and your videos are a huge help with us obtaining information that we will need for our trip. Our first time will be a vacation and our first of many trips which hopefully will lead to us having a place down there eventually. We are very excited and greatly appreciate all the effort you put into your videos. Thanks again! PURA Vida!! 🎉

    Great interview with Scott! You introduced him to me when I was in La Fortuna this past March and we had lunch at his restaurant. I remember picking his brain on cheesecakes and his thoughts on whether a quality cheesecake would be in demand in La Fortuna. I also love his passion for dog rescue and the culinary classes he provides those interested in foods. Will definitely look him up on my next trip to La Fortuna when I go to the Lava Lounge. Thanks for posting the interview and look forward to a follow up interview with Scott and the Lava Lounge 😊
