Well, that was his argument. Damo popped up on TV twice and did a few appearances on Dark and Elevation. His complaint was that AEW didn't sign him. That said, I'm not sure where Damo would actually fit on their roster.
You can't give everyone everything all the time. Not sure that the alternative were giving them more either...someone has to be a midcarder and a strong midcard is needed for a roster to feel complete. Also on a side note probably watch dark and elevation more than dynamite because it's more digestible and easier to pause and come back to and the commentary is more fun on it.
Wrestlers and fans both need to realize this. Pretty much everyone on this list thought they were be big stars in AEW and be champions. Titles almost mean nothing in AEW right now.
I don’t think bringing in Paul white was to have him be a performer. He’s there to offer guidance to all these newer stars and be a notable name for the common fan. To say he’s been wasted because he’s only had commentary roles and a couple matches on Dark seems disingenuous. He’s done what he was hired to do, unless I’m just uninformed
Tony Khan gets a new toy and it's the best thing ever... Then he gets bored and tosses it back into the pile and gets a new one. He's a terrible booker no matter what Meltzer says.
Not everyone can be a top guy all the time. Fans would still complain even if they just shot everyone to the moon immediately and gave each new signee a title program. The arguments would be AEW only focuses on ex WWE guys and plays hot potato with its belts.
this is a major reason why kahn NEEDS to relaunch ring of honor ASAP. Way too many talent, wrestlers not being able to appear on dynamite each week can affect long term story telling that there trying to tell, and just all around makes the roaster unhappy and bloated
I think a big part of the problem is not knowing how to book themselves... In independents or on NXT the wrestlers worked with the bookers and other wrestlers to develop stories and angles for their wrestling character... then they got brought up to the WWE main roster where Vince pretty much ran thing by his own, limited, vision - if you had any ideas they might make a note about it, probably dismiss it, or if its really good give it to one of the wrestlers Vince was pushing. Now they are in AEW where Tony Khan is kind of in over his head and really needs input from his wrestling talent... but if you've been pretty much beaten down by "The Vince McMahon Method of Booking" for a couple of years you probably have no idea what to do with your character, how to book yourself, how to approach Tony about what you want to do. And I'm thinking thats why wrestlers who have a clear vision of themselves and what they want to do have Tony's ear and are being used and pushed in stories (guys like Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, Jon Moxley, Brit Baker, etc) and others like Aliester Black, who sat in a room for a year, or The Big Show who spent years working with what Vince gave him, aren't doing anything beyond getting a pop when they arrive and then a match or two (which Tony Khan knows how to book a pop).
Spot on. While I largely prefer Tony to Vince as a booker and definitely as a person, they do share several flaws regarding being quite stubborn about their booking style and having their favourites. Tony needs to hire someone to actively book and manage that roster so opportunities don’t pass them by (E.g. FTR, Wardlow, Miro etc.) as well as making sure others who could be huge with the right presentation and push get that from the company (E.g. Andrade, Shida, Starks etc.)

Adam Cole has a great run in AEW from day one. He is currently out because of a concussion. Keith Lee has jumped the seniority line to become tag team champion.
Mark Henry and Big show are doing exactly what they wanted to do in AEW. Commentary and teaching the younger locker room. Athena has literally been in the company less than half a year. At this point I don’t know why any woman would sign with AEW considering how little time the current womens division gets. Tony Khan is obviously sexist based on his booking of women. All of these people have been used poorly because Tony Khan doesn’t know what he’s doing. The biggest blunders have been Andrade, Black, Cole and Danielson. I’m not a fan of Danielson, but Khan has misused one of the most popular wrestlers in the world since he debuted.
I feel like the biggest difference between WWE and AEW that i keep hearingg about is the lack/overabundance of creative freedom given to the talent. some people (say moxley or MJF) thrive on being able to do just about anything with their character with very little input, but a lot of the guys coming from WWE seem to complain about a "lack of creative direction" from TK because they come from WWE where 90% of what youre saying and doing goes through a writer, producer, management, you, writer again, and then vince or HHH. Its not that either side is any better than the other its just that they have wildly different ethos about how to use their talents.
I agree Miro wasn't used to his full potential, his Redeemer gimmick was awesome. But once he started criticizing management on Twitter the writing was on the wall. You can't have that. As for Andrade I loved his matches and he always delivered, but he was kind of lost in the shuffle during that chaotic months of influx of talent. But I think he will always underperform wherever he'll go, be it AAA, NJPW or WWE
I really hope that Andrade, Aleister Black, Buddy Murphy, Keith Lee, Ember Moon, Toni Storm, Adam Cole and every other ex-WWE star will go back to WWE because they've been booked horribly in AEW
I only want Keith Lee and William Regal back in WWE. The others are not worth it. The leader of the 5'8 midget club Adam Cole Nope, The B+ Player that the WWE got right in jest Nope, Henry/Big Slow, where done before 2010. Toni Storm never learned a thing in 2 years in NXT. I liked Moon but her ceiling has already been reached, she would have probably been better used in TNA.
It's easy to see why Samoa Joe never reached main event status. It's because Vince kept on pushing barely-any-time Brock down our throats rather then elevate Joe or anyone else.
malakai, buddy, andrade and ruby yes. athena, and joe still need some more time before they can be considered successfully/unsuccessfully used. miro is 50/50 big show doesnt need to be used if we're being honest. damo, and morison arent under contract so however they're used doesnt matter as far as aew is concerned.
Honorable Mentions should go to all of the Undisputed ERA (excluding Roderick Strong obviously), some of it is due to injuries but also none of them ever did much. You can already put Saraya in the group because the AEW woman’s division is just terrible. Cesaro has also been misused. Yeah he won the ROH world title, but he lost it to Chris Jericho, and he is really just being used as backup for Mox.
They're saving Joe for the Jericho storyline, as he's ripping through all the old RoH champions. Samoa Joe is gonna be the one to beat the hell out of him.
Makes you wonder of what's the point of bringing them in if Tony is not gonna use them properly. Ratings and using big names that were in WWE just to push them above WWE or make them better than WWE or whatever
Miro simply isn't it in my book and never was. Yes rusev day was funny but that was in large part to the incredibly underrated Aiden English. Matthews and Black on the other hand really should be bigger deals when they return.
I hate to say this and Im sure lots of people will disagree but like... I dont think Andrade really has been any better in WWE than AEW, like, I think its about the same and I feel like from both companies I can only count his best matches on one hand, dont know, Im not really upset like other people are. I think Andrade, despite being super talented, is kind of just overrated as a appealing character and not really worth the headache of trying to get him over
AEW has butchered these lot, I'm worried about the company if the creative continues to decline and TK keeps letting talent leave without even trying to use them properly
Because Tony signed too much in a short period of time as a FU WWE. If he stop the signing at let's say Black and focused on building Black, Miro, Andrade up to championship level before continuing signing in guys like Punk and UE almost 6-9 months later, we won't have this list
"Andrade has wrestled less than 30 minutes" where is that stat from? looking at his cagematch page he definitely has wrestled a lot more than 30 min lol
I’d love to see Buddy Murphy come back to NXT and win there title. IMO he’s a batter overall wrestler than Kenny Omega, who just spams the V-trigger button. Not to mention telling the story of a tag team long stay, left the company only to come back to NxT for the top prize.
Athena & Joe haven't been there long enough to say they've been wasted.
You have to remember that AEW was once a sanctuary for talent that got buried by Vinny Mac before Triple H took over.
All this list shows is sometimes wrestlers are mediocre of mid card in wwe for a reason
for those who left for greener grass i don't feel sorry for ... for those who were released I pray that you are getting paid well
Edge is at the top of this list.
this is a major reason why kahn NEEDS to relaunch ring of honor ASAP. Way too many talent, wrestlers not being able to appear on dynamite each week can affect long term story telling that there trying to tell, and just all around makes the roaster unhappy and bloated
So basically it’s aew doing the same in wasting them like wwe maybe. It’s not the brand/company
Wow a "stars wasted by AEW" video already? That's just show how bad AEW is on handling established stars.
@@wh5601 Vince as a booker has drawn more money and crowds than tony ever will. Lets see if aew ever pulls off a hogan vs rock match.
@@nathanbarnett4832 You seem to be under the mistaken impression that I give a damn who’s drawn the most money/crowds. It’s entirely irrelevant to my personal opinion on who books a better wrestling show for my tastes.
By the way, apologies if you’re actually replying in good faith here. My comment is a little passive aggressive in nature since you sound a fair bit like some of the more obnoxious WWE stans and trolls that I occasionally see online
@@wh5601 Of course my reply was not meant to offend. But objectively the booker who makes the most money and draws the bigger crowds is the better booker.
Indie fans may not like it, but its the truth.
Names that instantly came to mind:
Adam Cole
Miro
Andrade
Athena
Buddy Mathews
Malaki Black
Ruby Soho
Big Show
Mark Henry
Keith Lee
Adam Cole has a great run in AEW from day one. He is currently out because of a concussion. Keith Lee has jumped the seniority line to become tag team champion.
Mark Henry and Big show are doing exactly what they wanted to do in AEW. Commentary and teaching the younger locker room.
Athena has literally been in the company less than half a year.
Buddy Mathews was a nobody in NXT he'll be a nobody anywhere he goes. Keith Lee is featured weekly and was a champion within his first 3 months.
Adam Cole was a constant on TV almost too much before the injury...
Seriously learn the definition of "wasted" first.
@@raybranch Almost every feud Adam Cole has been in during his aew run has been whining about his friends and he lost to a comedy jobber lmfao
@@elchomper.1063 They barely do commentary anymore and if they're teaching the younger talents then they're doing a horrible job since only MJF and The Acclaimed are doing well
Athena came in and has been in the background of every feud she's done and has lost more than a new big signing should
Funny how you brush past Buddy Mathews as a nobody since Tony Khan was jumping up and down for him and you AEW fanboys were saying he's going to have a great run outside of the WWE. Funny how quickly your opinions change 🤣
Keith Lee had a great debut and then was taken off TV for a few weeks and now they don't know if to turn him heel or keep him babyface. He's changed his attitude several times since he showed up, plus he's lost more than a couple matches. The only reason he became a tag champ is because The Young Bucks didn't want to have another match with FTR so they dropped the titles
Adam Cole has been put into middle school drama storylines talking about "you're not me fwiend anymore 😢" and he's lost to Orange Cassidy by a hug. Wow what a great run
@@owl509 Huh, Cole became the winner of Owen Hart tournament. Competed for the championship. Joined the elite and before injury was about to have a high-profile feud with the elite. Also, that "Comedy Jobber" is the current Atlantic champion who has beaten Pac and Jericho and competed for the title against Omega. Oh yeah, Cole is totally wasted. lmfao
Part of why Samoa Joe hasn't been used much is that he took time off to work on some stuff outside of AEW.
That said, WarJoe is great way to underutilize two great talents at the same time.😞
Also Joe is a legacy signing for ROH not to bolster AEW
Being champions and featured weekly is underutilization? Your watching a different show then.
@@elchomper.1063 i’m fairly sure my nan is a champion that’s featured in aew at this point
@@imoutotrash390 ROH is not a separate entity from AEW yet. All of ROH's champions are working on AEW contracts. That probably won't change until Tony Khan secures a TV deal.
@@jamesmason7979 I know it's just they hired him to bolster ring of honor but whoops no one wants the rights to roh. Uhh what do we do now
I remember a year ago this channel made a video about 10 AEW stars wasted by WWE and now 10 WWE stars wasted by AEW...how the tables have turned that's crazy😂😂😂😭💀
Also would like to add Keith Lee to that list
imo
Tony Kahn is simply a lousy booker who lucks out and gets it right every now and then.
imo
It was inevitable with all the signings from WWE Impact Indies and ROH
I have a feeling Andrade will return to WWE whenever his contract is up and Join Legado Del Fantasma
and do what there?with all this roster they'll just push a guy whose boring like him ?problem is these guys keep complaining but don't want to learn how to act or be characters
That would be awesome 🤩
At this point I don’t know why any woman would sign with AEW considering how little time the current womens division gets. Tony Khan is obviously sexist based on his booking of women. All of these people have been used poorly because Tony Khan doesn’t know what he’s doing. The biggest blunders have been Andrade, Black, Cole and Danielson. I’m not a fan of Danielson, but Khan has misused one of the most popular wrestlers in the world since he debuted.
Cultaholic's turn to make the same list that Lamia and WC already have in the last week?
But everyone was saying AEW would use them better
just like they are now saying hhh will book everyone better...I guess wrestling fans will never learn
So this list could be rented "Who HHH would like to resign" besides Big Show
Damn, Tony forgot to pay the fiver this week
I think wasted is overexaggerated. The fans play a big role here in seeing the next big thing in literally every single pro wrestler.
I want all the extna guys in wwe to go back to tna because they’ve all been booked horribly in wwe
and everything will be alright with the world right?hhh will push everyone and everyone will hold the WWE title or women's title
Some people just can’t get “over”, no matter how much you like them
Andrade and buddy want to be headliners but don't want to have a personality or a gimmick
I can't remember where I heard this but Big Show recently had surgery so that could be why he's not been wrestling much
It's easy to see why Samoa Joe never reached main event status. It's because Vince kept on pushing barely-any-time Brock down our throats rather then elevate Joe or anyone else.
Sign former WWE guys then let them debut like it's the biggest thing in wrestling, use them for a week then put them in the shelf.
If you're better than Jericho, Omega, The Cucks and Britt Baker, your push will get squandered.
Jerichogan doing his best to hold down new talent
Cultaholic being critical of a wrestling promotion, and AEW at that! I need to check if the sky is falling.
John Morrison is NOT Under Contract to AEW. That was just a guest/ a few match appearances though. That’s it.
It's almost like 3 years ago when wrestling TH-camrs said person X should go to AEW they were just d**k riding.
oh careful doing this list might upset those exclusive aew fans that think aew does no wrong
malakai, buddy, andrade and ruby yes.
athena, and joe still need some more time before they can be considered successfully/unsuccessfully used.
miro is 50/50
big show doesnt need to be used if we're being honest.
damo, and morison arent under contract so however they're used doesnt matter as far as aew is concerned.
Imagine Andrade returning to WWE and being added into legado del phantasma.
Nah bro los ingorbernables de wwe
Andrade needs to go back to wwe
Well here we are now.
@@andrewjodon1433 thank God lol
Honorable Mentions should go to all of the Undisputed ERA (excluding Roderick Strong obviously), some of it is due to injuries but also none of them ever did much. You can already put Saraya in the group because the AEW woman’s division is just terrible. Cesaro has also been misused. Yeah he won the ROH world title, but he lost it to Chris Jericho, and he is really just being used as backup for Mox.
Once AEW get ROH going properly, that should help. Also they need to revamp Dark and Elevation and swap the styles around.
They're saving Joe for the Jericho storyline, as he's ripping through all the old RoH champions. Samoa Joe is gonna be the one to beat the hell out of him.
Calling some of these people a Star, is a bit of a stretch. More than half of them are Mid-Carders no matter where they go.
This seems like wrestlers wwe wasted who didn’t fare any better in Aew
Makes you wonder of what's the point of bringing them in if Tony is not gonna use them properly. Ratings and using big names that were in WWE just to push them above WWE or make them better than WWE or whatever
This list makes me sad.
I actually like Miro better in AEW. His theme is better and the redeemer is a good gimmick imo. Just needs more tv time
Better video would be "AEW originals AEW has dropped the ball on"
AEW should definitely consider a brand split with how many guys they have on the roster
I wish Khan wasnt the sole booker, that never seems to go well.
Ruby and Liv could’ve been women’s tag team champions
A lot of these guys should've gone to Impact or nwa powerrr, being a big fish in a small pond could work
Support Cultaholic Wrestling
With respect, I disagree with the final two spots on this list.
Andrade in AEW looks like a hairy messed up Rusev.
aka a list of people everyone kept saying were highly underrated and turns out...well, not so much.
"Andrade has wrestled less than 30 minutes" where is that stat from? looking at his cagematch page he definitely has wrestled a lot more than 30 min lol
Yeah that doesn't sound right. He had two more than 15 minute matches with PAC, so...... And then there's Cody
I’d love to see Buddy Murphy come back to NXT and win there title. IMO he’s a batter overall wrestler than Kenny Omega, who just spams the V-trigger button. Not to mention telling the story of a tag team long stay, left the company only to come back to NxT for the top prize.
but both Murphy and Omega can't talk or move a crowd with their charisma..so fuck both of these jobbers
Athena & Joe haven't been there long enough to say they've been wasted. Although there are some valid entries you guys pulled a Mr. Fantastic/Plastic Man/Stretch Armstrong reach to try to come up with ten entries.
-And I know I said it before, but Big Damo??? BIG DAMO?!?! When was he signed to AEW??
Damo not signed. He was just an one event extra.
@@calei7963 I know. That's my point. Lol
Lol I can’t believe we’re this far along in aews existence
I would say i haven't seen johnny since owen hart cup
Well yeah because homeboy is having fun working whatever
Wow I was thinking about this 🤔😳🤯
10 independent contractors that work other promotions and get a steady check from AEW.
But isnt being released worst than "wasted"
