I actually liked Golga. Because i knew the man behind the mask was probably having a good time and was a reliable and safe worker. He often did the heavy lifting in ring while Silva and Kurgan, mostly Silva did the literal heavy lifting. One thing i find funny about the oddities is 2/3 were legit wrestlers. Kurgan was as legit as hornswoggle but SIlva could go with the right opponent, just look at his matches in Japan.
I saw Silva at a gym in 96 on a leg extension machine he was so huge you couldn't see the machine under him. And he had a cute girlfriend that was short by even my standards, and I'm 5'11.
I think it's the trajectory his career was supposed to be on that gets him in this list. Because that's kind of a skid from being groomed for some kind of a belt, to somehow helping a hand get birthed. Was it funny? Kinda. But did it help his image, nope.
Sexual chocolate should not be on this list. Cheesy skits aside, Mark got that gimmick over and it’s arguably what he’s most remembered for. He is in the HOF after all.
I liked the Goodfather the character got the intended reaction at the time, I think it was more of a miss when he came back as legit escort agency Godfather.
Same here. The Goodfather worked because it defied the audience & made him instantly dislikeable, which helped with the turn and RTC’s whole figure. Escort agency Godfather didn’t have the same charm to it as the Pimp gimmick.
Poor John Tenta he ended up with some really horrible gimmicks in the mid to late 90s. Saying that go watch Raw in 98/99 and The Oddities and ICP were over and got great pops.
The Oddities and Sexual Chocolate were actually quite entertaining. The Oddities in particular were super over. I remember the pops they would get when that laugh would play at the start of their theme.
I will admit, which I mentioned it to both wrestlers on Twitter to major LOL's, that when Thrasher was out with an injury i actually thought he went to ECW as Justin Credible, thinking they were both the same person at the time (I was barely a teen then lol).
It's unreal how often people think the stinkface was a finisher. It never finished a match, it was a signature move/spot. His finisher was the Banzai drop and the Rikishi Driver.
Golga was kinda cool. If they had actually made him a beast, he might have done something. Way better than the “I’m not a shark, I’m a MAN” that he had most recently done
Tenta didn’t join WWF until 1989, and was only away from the company for 4 years before returning as Golga. The vast majority of his work in WWF came in the 90’s, so I’d imagine fans would’ve still known who he was
Reigniting Owen Hart's blue blazer gimmick maybe should've been a contender for this list. - More so the fact that WWE killed it by a face reveal barely before it gained what little traction it had.
Sexual Chocolate was the gimmick that finally got Henry over. Unfortunately the main thing people refer to in respect to Sexual Chocolate was the birth of a hand. Which was a stupid yet morbidly entertaining angle and didn't take anything away from Henry's success. It certainly didn't overshadow his great angle with Chyna leading to his affair with (Godfather ho) Victoria.
From what I've heard, The Real Man's Man Gimmick would have come out as Gay had Regal stuck around. Ah, that's why Naked Mideon targeted him. No doubt Vince convinced himself that the written narrative was indistinguishable from reality.
Idk I always thought Chainsaw Charlie was awesome. It gave Terry Funk something new to work with and it fit him perfectly. I always thought of it like it wasn't a totally different character but was more of an alternate personality. They would call him Terry Funk all the time. It was kind of like Mick Foley and his characters during that time. Golga was just a fun character and nothing to be taken too seriously. I liked him. He was a piece of the puzzle that made up The Oddities and they were super over during their short run. At the time I really didn't like The Goodfather but looking back it did a good job of what it was supposed to do and made sense. The only thing that sucked about it was it killed the momentum of The Godfather and he was never really the same after. Sexual Chocolate was hilarious and made Mark Henry. He was not that over before that and was pretty boring but Sexual Chocolate put him in the spotlight and got him over. And I thought Naked Mideon was funny and it made sense to me because he was always weird but it obviously wasn't gonna last too long. I mean where do you go with that. But the rest of this list is totally accurate.
The whole Right To Censor was trash from start to finish the stupid clothes , the words that came out of their were probably not their own , most of the group looked like they wanted no part of it and as someone with tinnitus that "music" was enough to make it 3 times worse . To make matters even worse I had to go through it 4 times at the 2001 Royal Rumble with the entrance of Ivory and when she won her match against Chyna and the entrances of Buchanan , Venis and Goodfather .
chainsaw charlie is when i started rewatching wwe, screw you golga was god damn gold, chaz actually went to my high school, but before i went, and the hand did not help mark.
Shame they didn't do more for earthquake if more people knew that John tenta was a undefeated sumo it may have help his character being more accepted in the late 90s and if they stuck with earthquake but made the character more scary or have real attitude like overkill from spawn just unbeatable monster that keeps coming and also has a voice it could have helped evovle the earthquake character from a cartoon presonsona to more of a real thug character. The oddities team had its time is was very 1998 and south park was everywhere it worked but didn't go much further
It's pretty common knowledge to anyone who follows wrestling that most Samoan wrestlers are cousins. Like you knew some little known fact or something.
Completely disagree about Goodfather..that was actually good heel stuff..I'm shocked this is high as it is but hey it's your opinion. Lol characters like Meat,Chaz,Naked Mideon etc are waaay worse...Goodfather actually contributed to storylines and generated heat. But yea your opinion like I said lol
skipped the first 50 sec, any reason the intro is longer than when i go to the bathroom to pee? is there valuable information there? or just padding the runtime?
The Real Man’s Man theme is still a quite fun theme though.
One of the best, and most hilarious themes ever. Whenever I jeed a pick me up, I just play it.
I actually liked Golga. Because i knew the man behind the mask was probably having a good time and was a reliable and safe worker. He often did the heavy lifting in ring while Silva and Kurgan, mostly Silva did the literal heavy lifting.

No way we’re talking bad on Sexual Chocolate. Iconic
I think it's the trajectory his career was supposed to be on that gets him in this list. Because that's kind of a skid from being groomed for some kind of a belt, to somehow helping a hand get birthed. Was it funny? Kinda. But did it help his image, nope.
He got the biggest pop at the 99 Royal Rumble along with Austin
DAMN RIGHT!
Sexual chocolate should not be on this list. Cheesy skits aside, Mark got that gimmick over and it’s arguably what he’s most remembered for. He is in the HOF after all.
The Oddities were super over in the states, Golga was the most popular member, Sexual Chocolate was also very over this side of the pond.
I really liked RTC
@@justinselgrad1382 same here! For a faction that's very memorable they were only around for like 4-6 months or so
I miss the hoooooooe trains
@@savage751 and RTC came around at just the right time as well when the FCC was trying to cut down on adult content on family TV
Poor John Tenta he ended up with some really horrible gimmicks in the mid to late 90s. Saying that go watch Raw in 98/99 and The Oddities and ICP were over and got great pops.
I think Bundy would have been a better Shark if they painted him blue.
I actually liked the Golga Gimmick just because of the Cartman Doll and the ICP theme that was great Woop Woop 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Loved that theme
That theme suuuuuucked.
The best ICP Theme was in WCW way better group. The Deadpool: Great Muta, Raven, Vampire, & ICP
@NerdAddiction no I will not agree
@NerdAddiction I concur
@NerdAddiction word
The Oddities and Sexual Chocolate were actually quite entertaining. The Oddities in particular were super over. I remember the pops they would get when that laugh would play at the start of their theme.
Wtf a lot of these gimmicks aren't that bad! Sexual chocolate wasn't a bad gimmick! I liked it
So did I but to this day I've never understood that hand angle
"Everyone come see the greatest show! Gather up all Juggalos and roll!"
I low key loved chainsaw Charlie.
Not low key, dude was fun!!
its worth mentioning The Sultan was originally intended for Sabu
@@SamsarasArt it does given the fact that Sabu's character was from the Middle East part of the world
What we’ve learned from this is never give Russo full control.
Vince McMahon had to agree to everything so he's just as much to blame
@@jbj7599 But Vince also said No
@@EssexAggiegrad2011 if Vince McMahon said no to anything, then it doesn't end up on TV
@@absolutez3r019 Yeah, imagine what Russo ideas were rejected
@@EssexAggiegrad2011 considering that McMahon suggested an incest angle with Stephanie, I doubt very many
I remember The Oddities being really over with the fans.
I will admit, which I mentioned it to both wrestlers on Twitter to major LOL's, that when Thrasher was out with an injury i actually thought he went to ECW as Justin Credible, thinking they were both the same person at the time (I was barely a teen then lol).

Some i disagree. Golga, chainsaw and sexual choc were all pretty fun. also, damn the ptc. Just damn them for killing godfathers career
Would fans in that era really even know tenta as his gimmick that was popular in the 80s? Would have been pointless for him to portray that gimmick
Tenta didn’t join WWF until 1989, and was only away from the company for 4 years before returning as Golga. The vast majority of his work in WWF came in the 90’s, so I’d imagine fans would’ve still known who he was
WTF is Sexual Chocolate doing on this list!?? 😤😤😤😤😤😤
The Goodfather was horrible for sure. But sooooo memorable
William regals theme song was a brilliant Monty Python lumberjack parody
I liked The Real Man’s Man
🎶 He’s a mannnnnnnn! He’s a mannnnnnnnnnn (such a man) 🎶 😂
John Tenta's Golga run was way better than his run as the Shark
The Stinkface was not big Keesh's finisher! Lmao He used The Rikishi Driver AKA Greetings From Asbury Park or The Fire Thunder Driver. Lmao
Reigniting Owen Hart's blue blazer gimmick maybe should've been a contender for this list. - More so the fact that WWE killed it by a face reveal barely before it gained what little traction it had.
Hot Damn - Eat more Cheese and watch wrestling - living the dream. Enough said!
Wise words, cheese daddy

Id say Sultan and Rockabilly were a dying days new gen/early days attitude
Like others on here I really enjoyed Tenta on the oddities. Luna and Sable with that ICP entrance theme was much better than his wcw gimmicks.
We’re going to have to disagree on “Sexual Chocolate” Mark Henry 😂
The Godfather and Val Venus should have feuded with Right to Censor instead of joining them it would have benefited all parties RTC was so underrated
From what I've heard, The Real Man's Man Gimmick would have come out as Gay had Regal stuck around.

Sorry but the "Mr.Ass" gimmick was alot worse than "Rockabilly" imo
" I'm not a fish, I'm not an avalanche, I'm a man!!"
Papa shango use to get the shit end of the stick but honestly use to love the gimmick wouldnt now but as a kid loved it
Quake had a one-night return for a dark match on late 2001.
good video
chainsaw charlie is when i started rewatching wwe, screw you golga was god damn gold, chaz actually went to my high school, but before i went, and the hand did not help mark.
even tho the gimmick and timing was horrendous for regal, the real mans man was quality entertainment xD
Poor Mosh. Deserved waaaaaay better.
Tiger Ali Singh was basically the jinder mahal of the attitude era
I'll admit the Sultan seems like a cool character.
7:43 I was at Beaver Clevage only match in Moline,IL RAW taping
damn, you and what culture posted at the exact same time. Love the competition
this list sucks, half of these started with bad gimmicks and went to better ones, you need to change the title
Sexual chocolate RULES.
They should've leave Sexual Chocolate out it. It's not a bad gimmick.

Tenta should be in the HOF by now. Hopefully, Triple H does it before Tugboat passed
Another fun list!
Charlie a dud??? Hell no!!!
The Rock isn't just a "fellow" Samoan, bruh, he's Rikishi's cousin lol

"RiCHEEKsi?" 🍑🍑
Golga was over like rover for a while!!
Insultan haha I loved it.
He’s a man, he’s a real man 🎵 🎶

Smh Vince Russo and his horrible horrible ideas!!
Sexual Chocolate was awesome.
Sexual Chocolate was great!

Better than what the f#$ks going on now..... come on this shit now..... its fucking funny more than anything 😂😂😂😂
I chop my own wood too
These gimmicks were great !
2 words huh joe biden 😆 🤣 😂
Adam Buttcheeky? Parcheesi?

RTC was after the Attitude Era and The Sultan & Rockabilly were before it.
