    Thank you for this video. I am going to be ordering all parts and hope this fixes all our issues. Keep losing coolant, so took it to dealer. $860 to change a thermostat, which didn't fix the issue. Now they are saying the oil housing filter and want $1,100. Took it to my brother in law who is a mechanic, and should have went to him first, but he didn't think it was oil housing filter. He believes it is coming from the oil cooler location, even before showing him this video. The oil housing filter is all wet from coolant and the water pump side is drenched in coolant. After showing him this video he believes this is definitely our leak.
    He will be changing all these parts you listed, as well as oil housing filter and water pump to try to eliminate all possible sources of leaks.
    Again, thank you for the videos!

    Does anyone make a Oil cooler kit that relocates it near the Radiator? Sooo much plastic and I can't believe no one made replacement upgraded parts for these cars which were $100K new.

    Hi there, just wondering how long this repair took you? Still deciding if I should attempt it myself or give it to the shop to do lol. Was it hard to clean up the oil/coolant that spilled into the V when you removed the oil/egr cooler? Also did you torque down the screws or just tighten by hand?

    • @Halffast719
      @Halffast719  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The screws bottom out so I tightened them by hand roughly 8 foot pounds. It wasn’t that hard to do, it was just a lot of cleaning. Everything from the EGR valve to the intake ports on the cylinder heads ha to be cleaned from all the soot build up. If it wasn’t fo the soot, the whole process could be done in 4-6 hours. But cleaning the soot took 4-6 hours by itself. I used a turkey baster to suck up all the oil and coolant in the valley. Took about 20-30 squeezes. You could use a wet vac or an oil extractor, that would have done a quicker job. Hopefully that helps.

      To be honest i give it to my trusted garage after i saw all those videos, i bring with me all the parts +extra EGR cleaner, I don't have space & outside temperature is -2c in Holland, that's why i let the garage do it

    • @Halffast719
      @Halffast719  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I couldn’t agree more. If you have a trusted garage but where I live I don’t trust anyone at all not even Audi. Took it to Audi when I first got it so they can do a complete service and they didn’t put an air filter back in and stripped a bolt for the seat to check the battery. At least if I do it I have no one to blame.

      @@Halffast719 it ended up being okay! In getting the oil cooler and egr out I had coolant and oil mixing. I use a might vac to suck everything up, however, I an a little worried about the oil and coolant mixing. Anything I should do to the coolant system and oil system?

    • @Halffast719
      @Halffast719  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you drained all the oil then I’m pretty sure whatever is left in there will evaporate.

      @@Halffast719 ; Oh you're not a sucker , but it's a good thing you can do your own maintenance or I don't think you would be very happy paying for the repairs that vehicle requires . I think that's a First Owner car . They get all the benefits and luxury and when the car needs some semi-serious repair they dump it for a new one . Must be nice to have that kind of money ! :-)

      Yeah keeping it simple is definitely the best way to go. My old hondararri was as simple as it could get and I got so sick of it commuting 90 miles each way in traffic for 10 years. No I like to ride in comfort but I pay the price once something goes wrong.
