I bought a 1980 kdx 175 with only 370 miles. Got it going and rode it for an hour and a half. It runs like brand new. It’s so crisp. Great throttle response and so much low end. It’s really fast for a 175. I’m almost ready to get a much newer 220 !!!
For later, look on the internet for steel barrel valves to replace the the aluminum barrel power valves. I have a kdx200 that I used them in and they can take more abuse.
bought my 200 new in 98,21 yrs later, top end 1000 miles ago when shift return spring broke other than normal wear has never left me walking, tons of mods to head, cylinder porting, carb bored, gearing, newer modified plastics, lighting, wiring, weight reduction, and street legal, prolly upwards of 35 k miles, raced hare scrambles back in the day, single track rides with aa enduro guys and sand riding at walden, starts first kick, ride as much as possible, just wanted to share and say good choice for your build
Sweet...I did the same thing. Had the cash for a new KTM...back in 2004 and I opted for a cheaper (better for me) KDX. I have had it for 13 years now...on my second rebuild. Got it plated and ride dual sports. The KTM at the time wasn't as common as they are now- I think in part because KDX is no longer made. And for the money they were asking, the seat was as hard as a rock, the construction orange is god-awful and the KDX came with all the goodies from the dealer. Couldn't be happier. Just wish they still made em...parts getting harder to get. I am all alone in a sea of orange in these dual sports.
Not a problem...my pleasure...and not that I can swing it right now, but at some point if you ever want to sell that RMX/KDX hybrid....well, I would be VERY interested since that is what I want to do someday...have a great day in SUNNY CALIF....here in Pa it's rainy and cold. :-)
Ill be following this with great interest, just got a 220 with PC Pipe and Boysen carbon reeds, my next step will be the RB carb and head mod. Keep up the good work.
I think you made a great choice my friend, I have a KTM200exc I just bought and at the time I was looking for a KDX200 they dominated enduro racing for many years! Your bike is a BEAST for sure!👍👍👍👍
you prolly dont care but does anyone know a tool to log back into an instagram account?? I was dumb forgot the account password. I appreciate any tips you can give me.
@Jermaine Brixton i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and im trying it out now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I own a 2011 KTM 200 XC-W and have loved it ever since I bought it. Last fall I had the opportunity to buy a 1991 KDX 200. The KTM has more horsepower, better suspension, smoother power, and the list continues on... however I still find myself taking the KDX over the KTM on most my day trips, evening rides, and probably about half of the weekend trips. It’s a pleasure to ride, almost like a step back in time.

Good deal for a thousand! I've ridden the 17 Beta 250RR. Great bike but $8500 isn't the end. Many throw a few more thousand at them. Throw another $1,000 at the 220 and it should be real nice. What year MX rear fender you you select from the KX?
shrubitup thanks. He MX rear fender is actually designed for the KDX only. I've now acquired a Hybrid. 2006 Suzuki RMZ chassis with KDX engine. Damn thing is super nice.
Sweet looking bike.. I just bought a KDX 220 and doing the same thing. Just posted a video if you want to check it out. I was in the same line of thinking of wanting a 300. But I think a hopped up 220 is plenty for me. With thousands left in my pocket... win/win... Subbed.
GREASElover32 Lol.... we sold our first house and flipped the second house. Kids are getting older and we don't need all the space anymore. Trying to make some extra cash.

Want to see some dove springs videos on this thing! That bike looks great for $1000!!
Yeah not bad buy for 1k. Runs good and all. Dove springs coming soon for sure.
Had a kdx220 from new at 12 yrs old to like 26 yrs. Never had 1 problem. At least over 5k miles put on it
yeah - they are great all around bikes.

A $1000!!! You stole that machine. I paid $440 for a 1994, and I have to assemble it.
Edit: Oops, that was 7 years ago.
Class of 1996 here. Nike bikes to ride.
I have my eye on a scattered 2014 kx 250 f. Thought I might put the 2 stroke engine in it.
Tim Henry nice 👍🏼. If you search my channel I had KDX Hybrid with Suzuki frame. It was awesome.
@@HardEnduro8 Saw that. Nice.

Ended up selling for decent profit. I’ve had about 3 of them. Awesome bikes.
@@HardEnduro8 ahhh really? Ok I was looking forward to seeing your conclusion to the bike. Okay thanks man. Nice video.
I did notice you had what looked like 2 kill switches is that right?
Other switch controls the headlight.
Can you put electron carb on the kdx?
I put a lectron carb on my KDX Hybrid. I have video of it. Ran awesome.

Miss my kdx. Never should have sold it
