Never, ever be afraid of winning a movie and giving it proper criticism. I love the usually positive conclussions, but sometimes, you just have to tell how it is and I appreciate how you elaborate on why you feel the way you feel. You didn't try to make this an objective criticsm, but instead go and tell us about it from your subjective point of view and you should never be afraid of that. I'm up for more movies being winned and sinned at the same time.

Yup, I'm gonna whinge right along with Lee about Pothole-chan. All it would've taken for Dunn to not die would be someone spray-painting a penis around the pothole and it would've been filled in by the end of the movie :D
I think a collaboration with Cinemawins and Cinemasins would be a good video, they watch the same movie at the same time but have two counters (win/sin) but converse about each sin and win and why they feel that way
@@sheets252 Yeeeeeeeah, I don't think whys is Jeremy's style. Also a lot of sins are just objectively, demonstrably wrong. And I don't want that kinda thing tainting a video with Lee in it.
Glass is Glass's movie, just as Unbreakable was Dunn's and Split was the Horde's. That's why there was a triumphant score at the end. He succeeded in his plans, it was his movie
Glass is also our movie. It's a origin story for us. Glass, Kevin and David died so that we could see them as martrys, and in turn Become superheroes ourselves.
I agree, because this is very rare. But i love it when cinemasins removes sins. It is impactful too. Someone who brings out a lot of good points, faults in movies, it is great to see Jeremy's excitement for a movie. The love for it. The genuine laughs. When he likes a movie, i get interested. I have developed critical thinking and i question the plot more. I want a lot of the same things as Jeremy wants from movies. I've learned to appreciate when for example trust in audience. I like it when there is room for me to think instead of narration or exposition that beats me over the head with the point of the movie. It is a wonderful experience to realise something about the movie by yourself, to have room to come up with your own theories ect. Also, a bunch of sins are kind of jokes. They shouldn't be taken seriously. I also like cinemawins. Because of that channel, i've watched wes Anderson movies and i am in love. I discovered "My neighbour Totoro", i found someone who thinks about "Frozen 2" the same way as i do... I learned to appreciate camerawork, i pay a lot more attention to soundtracks. And i am a sucker for all things, that people, who are passionate about something, talk about that. They both are actually really good channels.
@@cst9383 suprisingly, no. the guy that made Cinemawins just wanted to be the opposite of Cinemasins, he outright admits it, check out the “About” page on his channel.
@@carlwheezerofsouls3273 "everytime there is a individual that is extraordinary their opposite will come out" Plz correct me and put whatever staple said in the movie (bad memory on my behalf sorry).
To be honest, I watch your vids for your passion not positivity. I got that here. Thank you for sharing that with us. Don’t be afraid to show us films that let you down. Knowing what you have said in this video, it’s your love for films why the letdown happens.
I think it's important to cover something you dislike occasionally.. Shows you can like something and still be critical That you can dislike something and still find the good in it
It's fine to be critical but in all honesty who isn't really critical nowadays? Positive/Optimistic guys like Cinemawins are more rare to come by, and it's actually really nice. It's good to know that there is someone who's not always "critiquing" things intensively and is willing to just appreciate the positive aspects of films.
I loved Glass, and I appreciate your thoughtful criticism of the movie. If you weren't honest about how you felt about the movie, your video would just be you looking for things to compliment the movie for. I think most of your viewers aren't interested in empty love(nor especially: hate) notes to movies, and your honesty at the end of your videos lifts your work above that. Your work encourages your viewers to think about movies critically and to appreciate the film craft. I think your negative "over all review" of Glass at the end of the video reminds your viewers that even disliked movies can have wonderful artistic accomplishments. I for one think that's an important service that your video provides.
Tracy H, Well put and a thoughtful perspective. Find me on Facebook if you'd care to; I'm trying to encourage more interest in such topics and positive yet authentic commentary in my list.
Yes, exactly. Just like it's okay to find the good in bad movies, it's okay to admit that there is bad in good movies, and while this is CinemaWins and not CinemaSins, I for one prefer an honest and well thought out opinion.
One part of this movie I loved and I thought was gonna get winned was the scenes of Casey's foster home where the much younger kids love and adore her, but also leave her alone when she wants to be left alone. It felt so heartwarming after seeing her suffer so much in Split. Plus hugging is always a win.
Deadpool See, that’s why I love “Rogue One”. My friend felt there was no reason for everyone to die at the end - and without realizing it, she accurately counter argued her complaint. There truly is no “reason” in war. You can plan ahead all you want, as long as you want, with the best equipment and intelligence (info on opposing enforces and the way they operate), and many would say it stands to reason you’d win. Yet for millennia we’ve been shown that this isn’t necessarily the case, and somehow sometimes the smallest, seemingly inconsequential acts can completely alter the outcome. And there’s a reason we have the term “suicide mission” - because so many things could go wrong in such horrid ways, that it’s unlikely for everyone (sometimes even one) to make it out alive. It’s why we had/have kamikaze pilots. Throw in how powerful the Empire was at that moment in time, and anyone surviving actually seems illogical. And they were all earned deaths - no characters dying that had an insanely convenient time and way to escape, and if they did, they realized the whole was more important than the one. What’s the use of running when the opposite outcome could be a life constantly on the run, and/or death. Especially if somehow you found out that your bailing happened to be the difference between obtaining and delivering the Death Star plans, and those plans never being discovered - taking away the slight handicap of the Empire losing it’s Death Star. It was actually refreshing and pleasant (in an odd way) to see a SW movie willing to build up characters to the point you become quickly attached to them, only to see every one of them fall, only doing so once their special skill and fight left them too exhausted or overwhelmed physically/mentally/emotionally to continue. And it’s not like we don’t know that the Empire will obtain the power to/has obliterated ENTIRE planets before - it’s just for the first time we have to see that obliteration more like Leia’s family would have had to witness and fall victim to. It’s easier to watch as an outsider and not as a victim. Never mind that that could have been the sight and terror felt by people like the innocent Japanese civilians who had 2 atomic bombs dropped on them. It’s partly why I consider it one of the better SW films including all the different trilogies and other offshoot films. And perhaps all that’s partly the reason why I didn’t feel cheated by this movie’s ending. It was the comic book aesthetic and thought (even in the finale) done in a very grounded, realistic way that was so different from all the other comic book movies being shoved my way (I’m still behind on like 8 Marvel films) - oddly very much like “Joker” would do just a little while later. In some ways making the movies a bit more rewatch-able to me.
I don’t think their deaths were meaningless. The whole point of Elijah’s “Osaka Tower” plan and his actual plan was to show the world that some people are special. He did this for an ego boost and eventhough Staple knew about their powers, he wanted to prove her wrong and at the same time show the world who they are. Now this is his movie and we know he’s an arrogant narcissist so this is exactly what he’d do
...I think Mr. Cinemawins needs a big hug. A biiiig big hug And so did I after watching Glass (even though I watched it as a standalone film first, there was just too much sadness)
Its even more depressing if you watch Glass first, the movie telling you that they dont have powers sounds super sincere and they still describe each character very very well..then they do have powers, and theyyy die. Man, I felt like crying at the end, all that build up and they just killed them like that I'll take it, it was well made but god damn it was just too dark to "enjoy"
@@adorablecenturion8436 I know, right? And then, when you're watching the first two, you know that they die in the end. Especially in Unbreakable, since you know that Glass is not what he seems to be, so their growing friendship is heartbreaking to watch
The reason I subscribed early on in your channels lifespan was because of your conclusions at the end giving a nuanced and honest critical look at the film. Winning (or sinning) parts of the film are a fun little run through but don't stand up alone, which is why I don't watch Sins much now. If you're forcing more positivity than a film deserves, the video feels hollow, which has occured in some of your more recent content to some degree. Please just be honest about a film, the wins are where you push the positivity, the conclusion at the end should be your take (positive or negative), so what if you don't like the film?
yeah kind of like ozzy man reviews game of thrones. the first half is a fun, fast paced run through of an episode and then the second half is an honest, more in-depth review
To be fair, even in say, Infinity War he brought up some small problems, so even the really in depth positives ones are fairly honest, especially in the past years. L:ol, I just remembered when he tried to win Not Deadpool in Origins Wolverine but still dedicated a bunch of wins, for obvious reasons.
If he wants to be positive and like something, that’s perfectly fine, if something ya think is a flaw is overlooked or given a win instead, that’s just down to personal taste really. Personally really glad there’s someone on the internet to see the good in everything without needing to point out all the problems, Cinemawins is da best!
As someone with DID, I fell in love with Split and Glass because of James McAvoy's performance. The portrayal of the character(s), though not always the most accurate or great at combating the extreme amount of stigma around DID, stayed true to humanizing Kevin and his alters really well. Split was the first movie ever where we felt represented, and it's really sad that a "villain" in a comic book inspired trilogy (as awesome and enjoyable as it was to experience) had to be the first time we saw ourselves represented. Overall I love James McAvoy so much more than I already did before after these performances. I have to admit we were only as incredibly invested in this story as we were because of Kevin, Hedwig, Patricia, Dennis, and the others. Personally I kind of find that to be both heartbreaking and empowering. I don't know if I'm making any sense with this, but I (along with my alters of course) struggle to find accurate representations of my identity and who/what I am, along with my alters' identities and the struggles that they face alone or that we face together. It seems impossible even in 2019 for any of us to find characters with DID, with BPD (borderline personality disorder), characters who are transgender and/or non-binary, and/or maybe even polyamorous, that we really relate to. I'm not asking for a character that's literally me or any one or more of us exactly. Some of those struggles are hard to find represented well in media. This is probably why we're writers, though the nine year old book series we've been crafting still needs a lot of work. I have to say that I'm grateful that things are getting better slowly but surely. More openly humanized, accurate and real diverse characters are popping up more and more. Mental Health, LGBTQ+ issues, and so much more that I don't feel qualified to comment on; these things are being brought up more often. Things are far from where they should be progress-wise for a lot of minority groups, and humanity as a whole, but we've all come so far. It's a very up and down, confusing, terrifying, and hopeful time we're living in now in my opinion. Finally I just want to say I went off on a limb with a rant that veered way off topic on a video that's half a year old, and I'm aware a lot of this isn't particularly relevant to these movies. It's just the importance of representation of all kinds that really inspires us, and seeing ourselves represented at all is often so impactful and emotional. We've always been fairly isolated from people and the world around us, and this just gives us so much hope that one day we'll feel fully comfortable to be apart of it and hopefully greeted with genuine acceptance. We've been viewers of this channel for a while now, and experience a genuinely uplifting positive outtake on these things when the world is such a negative and critical place.. It's life saving. I'm honestly not expecting anyone to find, let alone read this. If you read this through, thank you; genuinely. If I can make an impact on at least one person's day, then that's a win in my books; even if it's just to get that person thinking. It's just really great to get these thoughts out once in a while onto a page where it's legible. This has gone on too long, so thank you from Lex, Alex, Zach, Ellie, Abby, Quincy, and everyone else. My alters to me, though painfully tough to handle at times, are my closest family. Rare times like these give me a lot of hope, so just thank you so much to Cinemawins for everything this channel has done and what it represents
I am SO glad to heard the opinion of someone who has the disorder, because there is a lot of problematic shit going on about how one of the few accurate representations is a comic book villain. And yet I also love the film. So I'm very glad I got to hear someone who can give a more nuanced and legitimate perspective on it. I am even happier to know that you are a writer and we can get the perspective from both someone with the disorder and someone who is a creator. I'd love to hear more of your opinion. If you are at all interested I'd like to chat about. I'm also a writer and it'd be awesome to hear more of your perspective. In either case, thank you so much for this comment.
I personally love the scene where she tries to tell them that their "powers" are all in their head. It sets up the end of the movie very nicely in that she can convince these powerful people that it isn't real. And that they don't need to keep killing to suppress the whole thing. And not only that but her dismissal of everything supernatural was just a plain mindfuck which is what M.Night is so good with which is why I love his movies.
Love your videos, i like how you know how to be objective even if its not a win. And im sorry for Poppy. No matter the kind, a pet is still dearly loved and losing them is always very difficult.

6IU The hashtags make the most important parts #StandOut when making your point. But I also appreciate what you’re saying. Too many hashtags waters down the point you’re attempting to make.
I really agree with you. I liked glass a lot, but felt a bit iffy afterwards. And I didn't really know why. David's death bothered me, but I liked how the truth got out in the end. Not so much for mr glas, but bc Staple thought they'd won, when she just did exactly what he wanted. Almost like a bit of payback for what she did. But what you said here clicked and I think what you mentioned is why I felt iffy afterwards. I have the same feelings/opinions, but couldn't really get to them I guess
Me too actually. I loved each and every character in the trilogies, but the way the story played out and how their morals clashed was just a little disappointing, almost underwhelming for me. It felt like it was contradicting the whole, "heroes and villains are just people too" lesson. Personally, when Glass was first announced, I expected a movie that focused more on the human sides of all of them. The emotional parts and doubts that stayed all the way through to the new Glass movie. I wanted to see inner turmoil, see that it can strain relationships and test each other's strengths and weaknesses. See some of them getting frustrated and frantic because things didn't turn how they wanted to, just like heroes in comic books seem to get, but in a way that satisfied the audience. I also wished that he'd show acceptance in his characters. Acceptance of their roles in the world, acceptance in their failed plans. Acceptance that leads to change, whether a change in their goals, ambitions or even the way of perceiving the world. I wanted a change that was more relatable yet true to their feelings. But at the end of the day, it wasn't bad. It just wasn't the ending I wanted; it wasn't satisfying, at least in my opinion. Then again, I guess that still also follows the whole "this is how reality works," just portrayed in his own unique way. Or maybe it was just my weird attachment to all of the characters, maybe it was just me wanting my favourite characters to be happy, even get a cheeky sequel if I decide to push my luck. I just realized how much I rambled, looks like a thesis haha
its not davids movie and people need to realize that every one treated it like a sequel to split when its not its like the mcu like a captain american movie vs an ironman movie yeah same cast and universe but the focus is on different characters and their story
Think back to unbreakable. David has a conversation with Elijah where he says "Two kids were dunking me under, I swallowed some water and it almost killed me. Heroes don't get killed like that. Regular people do." Yes David's death was quite anticlimactic, but that's the point. Heroes don't always die in a blaze of glory or making a heroic sacrifice, sometimes their end is as unceremonious and shallow as the puddle he was drowned in.............. But ultimately all of their deaths have a purpose. Their sacrifice gives rise to a massive world changing revelation that superhumans are real, and that deep inside we all have our own powers and purpose. To me, that's a beautiful thing, and an excellent tie all the way back to what unbreakable was about, finding your identity. However I do wish that maybe there were more clues throughout the film that Staple had alterior motives.
@Kevin McDougall ..Smart hey? Its a common error since the first days of movie scripts, nearly a century ago. Most use 'alterior' instead of 'ulterior', even though its wrong.
Yeah that's what was frustrating me about when he kept saying it was for nothing and when people act like just because the future after the revelation and the end of the story is unclear and then they say it was all for nothing when part of the whole point was every individual's experience of this insane world is valid and they exist and they existed and new people will come after them and new stories will be told in the world that they created through their existence and following their fate
I thought it was a very refreshing experience, and nothing like it...yeah, David's death was sad, but life is like that sometimes. It's reality. And that's kinda the point.
I've got nothing against his death. He maybe unbreakable but he's still old. He just fought someone not only half his age but twice as strong and agile, then is drowned in a water tank. He barely makes it out and slides on to the street disoriented. Only for a younger mercenary to drown him. It makes sense. I'm just pissed he didn't get a heart to heart with Joseph since they have the most special relationship in the series.
As someone who has the same handicap as elijah i can confirm that they captured osteogenesis imprfecta PERFECTLY, we live in a constant fear of extreme long lasting pain and seeing elijah break in the deleted scene as a kid at the rollercoaster thing was so accurate. The arm breaking because of the tension of trying to hold on, thbones breaking because of the slam into the seat. It is spot on. And brings up alot of trauma’s. And because of how accurate they made this the ending was so terrifying because we all know that we can die this easily but we never see it happen because nobody is beating us up like this. To now see how that would look like is terrifying. And because if that realism i really loved this movie
I do think that you doing movies that you don't particularly like is good as it helps you and many of us see a different side of it that we probably missed do to how we left feeling about it. But keep up the great work man!
I go back and forth on how I feel about David’s death. Yeah, it was a shitty way to kill off an amazing character. But also, his death (along with Kevin and Glass’) fit in with the very nihilistic theme throughout the first two movies. People die. The ones we see die, all seem to be good ones. It also blends with the themes of grounded realism. Sometimes the heroes die, as Batman puts it, ‘in the gutter, for no reason at all.’
Its ok to die but not that way. At least real life Christian martyrs die with honor. Or at least the first 11 did. John was spared to die a horrific death like the others.
I don't know anyone who loved this film, but i know they're out there, like the Supers, lurking in the shadows. What Shamalamadingdong did to David and this movie was the last straw for me. I loved Unbreakable and Split, this...should be called Unredeemable. What a disappointment it was for me.
@@1satisfiedmind i do think this was considered when he put the plot in, it would have a split view, and i feel it's fine, as David was not the main guy this time, yea it felt a bit rushed for his ending, but i felt that the main battle here is Glass (pro super human) and Clover group (anti-superhuman), and the pro group, the main guys won the battle in the film
Rocky Mountain Ras I ADORE this film. Even more than “Split”. I still have to see “Unbreakable”, but I saw “Split” when it came out for my birthday (January 25th - so in that odd transition state of studios dumping films they know are horrible (often being horror movies now), while also beginning to release those near, or at, Oscar caliber level - so you may never know what you’ll get. I enjoyed it enough that I knew I wanted to see “Glass” even though it took a lot out of me physically as just a few months after I should have died from liver and respiratory at only 28. And people complaining about Dunn’s death - he views water as his own weakness and he just barely punched through the water tank after fighting multiple heavily armed men, AND the Beast. He wouldn’t be exactly at the top of his game fighting physically or mentally.

Just like many other people are saying here the reason we love your content is the conclusions, and all the wins leading up to it is just a fun way of looking at a movie in all it's parts for the good that's there.... Even "the last Jedi", a movie I legitimately hate I still enjoyed your video on, because you give different and interesting perspectives on movies in general. Hope this was helpful :P
TH-cam is just so overhyperbolically negative, and it gets soooo obnoxious. That's why channrls like CinemaWins, Captainmidnight, or Nando v Movies are so refreshing to me, how all of them can manage to remain positive and still genuinely criticise movies with valid reasoning Plus there's the whole "well that wasn't my experience, but I see how that could bug you", which was this video for me. Or vice versa.
I mean for me, David got weakened after exerting all that effort breaking the tank. So, I could understand why he couldn't fight back in the end. All the water in the tank weakened him to a point where a strong regular guy could overpower him. This was also set up earlier in the movie when he tried escaping. His room got filled with water and he couldn't move much for a while after. But still, amazing videos as always! I love having this atmosphere of healthy discussion on film, something that is hard to come by these days. And condolences to the chicken.
"Shyamalamadingdong" gets me everytime! Also, I learn a lot about the little things that go unnoticed in movies from your work ❤ Please do "Beowulf" sometime in the future.
I don’t know, all I have to say is the “meaningless” death of Dunn, evil guy Glass being the one who’s plan works, and the “monster” having an emotional, tear jerking death is just another glimpse into the reality. People die meaningless deaths everyday. Even if they are the “hero” or the “good guy” not every good guy or hero gets to save the day or get revenge and that’s the harshness of reality, in a Normal story he would have saved everyone and walked away with his son. But it’s not a normal movie story. It’s reality. He thinks water is his weakness, so he loses. It’s not meaningless, it shows us he was human. He’s not some superhero, he’s a man, a man that despite his abilities, is still, just a man. Glass being the one that was ahead, the true bad guy, one who’s been physically broken his whole life, feels like a mistake, uses manipulation, and others to get what he wants, no matter the cost, including his own life, but it’s not for a huge fight, or a “worthy opponent” , it’s so the world will finally see him for what he is. And then we have “Kevin”. Someone that we know, if you’ve seen split, has done terrible things, as a direct result of the terrible things done to him. Beaten till he fractured mentally. I think the use of mirrors with his character is extremely important, more noticeable in splits ending, because he has no idea who HE (Kevin) is, the face in the mirror doesn’t belong to him but all the personalities inside him. His line in split where he says “I was on a bus, I don’t remember a thing” when she finally says his name is just a glimpse of that. We see Patricia, Dennis, and Hedwigs styles, from clothes to mannerisms, so much that in this movie(as cinema wins pointed out) that we recognize Patricia as soon as she’s “on camera”... I say all that because what do we know about Kevin? What clothes does Kevin wear? What are his passions? We know nothing about Kevin except what happened to him. And what happened to Kevin is heartbreaking. Kevin never got to be Kevin. He was always that abused, absolutely terrified of the world, little boy who’s brain was so broken, it shattered. And that is why Cassie connects with him, she sees exactly who Kevin is, someone who would have never asked for 24 personalities in his head, in fact when given the choice, asked to be killed. He wanted out, he wanted to be saved. These are examples of people. Real people. Take away the super natural part of it, and that’s what this is. Three movies showing us that it’s not magic, aliens, or powers that cause bad and good things, but people. How many can relate with someone who was abused and tortured that seeks freedom from that? Or can connect with the idea that no matter how great your mind is, people see your body first, how no matter how mentally strong you are, people will still push and beat you down. And yet, even more, who can connect with the idea of trying so hard to trust your feelings and fears while still trying to over come them, he breaks out of that water container, just to fall to an even smaller amount of water. You can survive all the terrible things that happen in the day, but when your pencil breaks it causes you to have a full mental break down... having victory over one challenge doesn’t mean it will be any easier facing the next, (and I love the subtlety of someone holding him down((just my random thought)) being another example of no matter how strong you are physically, mentality can still cause you to lose) Of course this is all just my random opinion but I just wanted to put that all out there, I loved this movie because I felt like it truly held up to the series, just how Cassie only “beat” the beast because of his “moral code” but used that fuel to over come her own problems. Thanks for giving this a read❤️
No movie works for everyone; I'll be honest, I go to movies FOR escapism; pure and simple. So when you mentioned this beloved character dying a MEANINGLESS death, I completely understood your consternation. I haven't seen this movie, but I would probably not enjoy it for the exact same reason; it's not that it's not beautiful, or meaningful, or incredibly well done; it's just not fun, and I get enough of that in the real world. Long tirade short: You're good, honest critiques are good.
I think u should give the movies a try, all of em Unbreakable, split and glass. They're beautifully done. U might have spoiled the whole thing for u after watching this video tho
While I enjoyed some things, I don't enjoy Shyamalan dropping a bridge on David in the ending and he deserved better, glad you agree bruv! Regardless I love how Elijah got back at her in the end, satisfaction!
Honestly one of my favourite videos from you. Specifically because you said you don't like it. You acknowledge your problems while still pointing out what was done well. Optimism doesn't mean ignoring the bad. It just means acknowledging the good.
Oh *Glass* has really good properties like: • It can be readily made from ash, sand, soda ash cullet and limestone • It is 100% recyclable •It has cost saving materials to produce it
Also the cinematography. There is not a dull looking shot in that film. It’s all a beautiful painting by Deakins and Snyder. Definitely should be winned.
Funny thing, I never took it to be some "lesson" to all of us about Marvel films. He made references to them sure, and to comic stories in general, but that's no different than what he did in Unbreakable. He was doing a deconstruction of comic expectations, which is what he was doing all along. To me, it's just more of the same. I mean I totally bought into the idea of them fighting at Osaka tower, and that's what Glass was counting on, to clear the board enough from Staple to get his message across. I dunno. I mean, if you think about the question in Unbreakable, the question of "why hasn't anyone heard of us before?" then it makes sense that there is a group of hero-killers that has been purging them since the beginning. It kind of reminded me of the tv show Highlander, and the group the Watchers, how a faction of them started to be proactive in killing the Immortals, because the human world wouldn't survive one of them getting the Prize. I agree with you that David's death was disappointing, but for me at least, I felt it was appropriate for the setting. Thousands of people like David died, just as unceremoniously, to keep the secret hidden all these years. The Order of Staples had an interesting philosophy. They seemed to genuinely respect and cherish the people they were killing. They would honor those they killed, for being extraordinary, but it didn't stop them from killing thousands for "The Greater Good." I dunno. It's not a perfect film, no, but I still enjoyed the story he was telling, how in his reality, these kind of low powered "supers", wouldn't have much of a chance against modern society. Yeah it's twisted that the "victory" comes from the hands of the mass murderer of the bunch, but, like he said "the next part, won't be like in the comic books." Sometimes terrible people reveal important information. For their own agenda or not.
I watched split mainly for Mackavoy, then i watched unbreakable for the sake of Glass. And all movies together are pure art . their acting was phenomenal especially James and Samuel. The directing was more than clever. Not every hero gets a glorious ending but every hero gets remembered for their sacrifices.
They all had to die. If any of them had lived then they would have been re-captured and poked and prodded, and the mystique drained for them. Now, they are essentially martyrs to the cause, and in death they are untouchable and will remain larger than life. That's the trigger that was necessary to bring out the other Supers.
I'd agree, but Shamalamadingdong has said there's no more movies in the series. So it really didn't matter that they died as there's no continuation of the story either way. Considering this, I'd much rather they survived cause as it is now it just felt like a punch in the face for absolutely no reason.
Yeah, David getting up at the end would serve no purpose. He's not a comic book hero, he's just a guy with super powers. Him just disappearing from laying there on the ground at the end or something just doesn't really add anything, it would just be a case of "Yay, David didn't die" But like...why? Why does it have to be a cliché ending like that? I loved this movie because it's like nothing I've ever seen before, it made me feel so many things that superhero movies never have before. Not even Endgame, a bit at the end there made me tear up(you know what) but Glass floored me for days...but at the same time made me feel elated. The ending to Kevin's story was beautiful and The Horde are probably my favourite character/s ever in film. Incredibly fascinating.
@@connorboyle2585 if David had survived he wouldn't be a martyr and we'd have another case of "the heroes always win" which wasn't what Shyamalan wanted as that's not how reality works. He wanted to show how the "bad guy" (Glass) could win and it still be a good thing for the world. Kind of like a more realistic Thanos case. Even though the person is bad, and their methods questionable, doesn't mean their goals are.
I think it's more the WAY his death was handled which people have had issues with. His death makes thematic sense it's just immensely unsatisfying. Which is also kind of the point, but I still think it could be better handled
+Coolman Hahn I think it made sense really, I was sad CinemaWins dude(totally forgot his real name dammit) couldn't really get in to the detail like he usually does. Like the big tank they're in, it's actually got bullet holes and some cracks in it already. I think when they jump in it it cracks actually, so that's why David could still break it. We also never really saw how fast his strength gets taken away by water, when he fell in to that pool in Unbreakable no amount of strength would have helped him anyway. I feel like a lot of problems people have with this movie are often things they don't even really want to find answers for because it's a horrible movie, it makes you feel terrible, at least if you're invested in it all.
The argument/review you had from 14:46 is the exact way I feel about the last Jedi. It is so hard to talk about that film but if I was to explain it to anyone I would point it to your video. Amazing wording, outstanding empathy and explanation. That is worth a win.
The fact that Kevin finally accepted himself and somewhat learned how to stay in the light then DIED right after killed me inside. I’m not saying the beast is a good person along with some of his personality’s like Patricia. But... GEEZE that hurt.
Honestly thought you were going to find everything good about this movie and ignore the bad stuff to keep the channel light-hearted, but you didnt and I am so grateful for it. You are totally right, there is plenty to enjoy and this is a very well directed movie, but the plot is out-dated and the treatment of David Dunn was criminal. Thanks for continuously being one of the best film channels on TH-cam :)
I would love to see you do Interstellar. I personally loved that film but when it initially released a lot of people reacted pretty negatively to it. But as time has passed I think more people have began to understand the main theme of the film, which is the relationship between a father and his daughter, which is something I think you would personally relate to. Anyway I love your videos and hope to see your take on Interstellar soon!
Thank you for posting this even if you don't exactly like the movie. I'm sure your viewers always will want the true you, and not you pretending to like a movie. Keep it up C:
In the movies comic books exist. Marvel, DC, image and others. People either in the clover organization are trying to get the idea of superheroes out there to help them identify supes, or it's the witnesses of heroics or villainy that tried to tell the world and got scoffed at. So comics was the only way to tell it. Also gonna point out that someone missed a win for Dr. Ellie Staple's scream. I had to go back to the theater just to record that scream. Love it so much. You feel everything from her in that scream. Pain, anger, frustration, and fear. Brilliant.
Well your points about David Dunns death being disappointing make sense because I think the death is really dependant on the person watching. As someone who saw a lot of my dad in David made me cry because unlike any other death in just about any other movie I actually felt like I had known David my whole life. For me I found both his and Glass's deaths really impactful but I can see the opposite being true for someone with a different kind of relationship with the characters
I flinched when I saw that scene ...the 3 times I've watched it...he was my favourite superman. I think I get what shymalan was trying to do here but it was so so mundane..it was realistic in a sense...I enjoyed the film but at the same time , I'm torn by it and I get why a lot of people don't like the film..
It's realistic when it comes to these characters but also in many ways to our own world. But in a lot of ways it's subtle too. Like the 3rd act while in ways it has it's let down moments, It changes very subtle when you realize there is a small but very dramatic movie in Mr. Glass from Unbreakable to this one. In Unbreakable right up to the end there was always this sense of belief that he'd ultimately be redeemed for what he did by bringing Super heroes to the world and make it a better place even if his name was tarnished. Yet in this one he's given up all hope of redemption he's entirely embraced his identity as truly the mastermind and villain all the way through his ignoble death but seeing even his death as part of a need for his greater plan. He is no longer looking for redemption in his villainous acts to define his place in the world. Where it falls a little short on the message to most I think, is the fact that We are basically handed an entirely complete story but also a complete origin story for the future but without any blueprints to use as seed to grow from that origin. It's entirely up to us and in a way our own behaviors and for Heroes to step out from this entirely on their own rather than be guided into it by some overarching hand of fate that in a way kind of overhung thing in Unbreakable. Most people aren't really all that good at understanding what to do with something like that because the possibilities are almost too broad in scope with no guiding factors to limit the direction of progress from it.
Yes! Several people are asking for these two movies in particular and it’s so great to see that people had the same childhood I did where they enjoyed these movies
I LOVED the first 2 acts, act 3 I'm not a fan of, but I don't feel as negatively about it as you seem to. I think the problem is that the reasoning behind suppression of super human abilities given in the film is just a bit too convincing, which makes us ambivalent towards the result of Glass' plan, and so unforgiving that the Overseer was sacrificed to accomplish it. I think I'd be fine with his death, if I felt that it had a point and resulted in a net positive. I think Shyamalan assumed that we'd see it that way, without doing enough (almost anything, really) to convince us.
The issue with it in some ways is that net positive is really left up to us. There is no seeds set for direction of progress after the film other than that people with these kinds of powers that are still very much people do exist amongst us every day. There's no indication if there is a rise in super heroes with this revelation, if things get worse because more villains arise trying to find their place like mister glass, or if everything stays status quo. So we have a question at the end of this with no actual answer except the one we make for ourselves. it's almost asking us which of the three we choose to be in a way but doesn't really tell us what being any of the three really actually means. But I think that act 3 also changes context slightly when you realize a subtle difference that was touched on in this vid but maybe not fully grasped. The subtle difference in Mr. Glass. in Unbreakable there is always this underlying sense to Elijah that he believes that he will be redeamed over all by bringing Heroes to light and making the world better by his necessary evils to find them. But that sense of redemption is completely gone in this movie. He has embraced evil completely and knows he will never be more than a complete villain and he only has one real fate so he even makes that fate part of his overall plan to achieve his goal in the end. but then there is a surprising amount of subtlety. specially in shifts in the characters from the previous movies. Even David in this one is basically worn down and worn out in a lot of ways. Like when we see a storyline of an aging or retired super hero well past their prime still trying to carry on despite the fact that he ended the last movie almost rejuvenated and newly motivated. But we also get to see in small ways how each of the three of our Super characters in this movie touched and changed those around them to some extent despite others trying to suppress those changes from happening in the populace before they get out of control and trying to maintain a perceived balance.
I don't think we're ever supposed to be okay with it. His son's reaction is likely supposed to mirror our own. It's a tragedy. It's not a sacrifice for the greater good. It's a tragedy, and it's supposed to feel like one. The revelations at the end aren't supposed to justify his death, or even ease the pain. It's simply a vengeance against the people who killed him. That's where we're supposed to derive satisfaction from Glass's success.
I love it when CinemaWINS does these more challenging to like movies, a clear cut amazing movie doesn't require perspective. The best part about this channel is that it gives reasons to rewatch or watch movies that we may be hesitant about with rose coloured glasses cause it is so much better to like stuff and sometimes it can hard to get in that mindset. Love these EGA videos and hope you do more borderline films.
Mr. Glass - He's someone who does terrible things believing it's necessary on some level. I mean, he deliberately sought out a hero. He thinks the world needs heroes and those that challenge them to prove the hero's worth. I don't think he expected The Beast to triumph over David 'The Overseer' Dunn, but that he needed a true physical opponent to challenge him and draw out all his power for a necessary (in his mind) spectacle to prove that superheroes are real. I dunno if M. Night really thought that Glass was justified, so much as he can understand that mindset? I mean, Glass' mum loves him, but is also aware that he has done terrible things. She is honoring her son's last wishes more than anything else, I think. The trio at the end are simply united in a common goal. They want those they had a connection with to not have died in vain. They want them remembered. The people they cared about might have been enemies, but that doesn't mean they have to be as well.
The beauty in your channel is not your constant positivity (while it is enjoyable), it’s your honesty. You’re honest about your opinion, regardless of the kind of movie you’re doing. You point out the bad in movies you loved and you appreciate the good in movies that aren’t exactly your favorite. And you do all of it in a smart and interesting video essay where you still have funny moments but the whole video is one big joke (like the videos your counterpart puts out). You take time with every movie you do and you put so much effort to making your videos fun to watch. You’re a film critic, and even the most positive film critics are allowed to not like a movie. As long as you’re honest, myself and your fans will still watch your videos. Keep up the great work man, I can honestly say that you’re one of my favorite TH-camrs to watch, and one of the only creators whose videos I can watch over and over again without ever getting tired of them.
I really enjoyed unbreakable and glass because I fell in love with Elijahs idea. I loved the theme both movies had, and even in unbreakable was enjoying every second of Samuel L Jackson portraying this magnificent character. Like you said, some risks were taken with the last movie, but the cinema experience was amazing for me. I was on the edge of my seat for the whole movie. I was intrigued with the discussion of whether they have powers or disillusions. Until the final act, I was unsure what to think of the characters. Glass had me fully immersed, following every detail, trying to figure out the truth along the way. Even if the deaths felt bad, the twist pay off felt really satisfying. Obviously this was my very subjective experience with the movie, and I was shocked to see how much hate it got from various sources. The acting was top notch, the storytelling was top notch and the cinematography was top notch. Like you said in your video, there are many things that this movie did really well and it was obviously a labor of love. I fully understand why the choices that were made rub you the wrong way. I think there are many angles to look at those movies and what they are trying to show, and I guess that I found one that really worked for me and others didn't. ALSO, love your content! Fighting off the nitpicky negative tendencies that cinemasins got us used to, while still adding your own criticizm from a very objective standpoint. Great entertainment + good movie reviews 10/10, keep doing gods work ;)
I get the whole chicken thing. My parents run a small hobby farm, and sometimes specific animals get too closely attached. BTW wasn't it a Russian guy who said a thousand deaths were a statistic (all the random guards) but one death was a tragedy (our three heroes/villains)?
David dying for nothing was the point in and of itself. This movie plays it as reality. Unlike the movies or comics, sometimes the hero just...dies, and there's no reason for it. It's how life works, and that was the point.
Well, if they wanted it to be more grounded to reality ( instead of going to marvel or DC like with powers). Then dying would make sense ( I mean take a look at *The Incredibles* , superheroes die and also can be killed. One of the hero got suck into the airplane's engine). And so that they wanted to show that these people that even if they're different from normal people, they aren't indestructible or unkillable!
@@mhuh How is it shit? Or are you just one of those mindless dumbfucks who repeat negativity because they desperately desire popularity so they can have some form of shallow happiness in their pathetic life?
I feel you about chickens. I raised one. Lucy. She acted like a cat. Hopped on my leg, shoulder, hand, and head. She pecked at the door when she wanted to go poop. She even jumped on my XBOX controller when she wanted attention. She was a great pet. I live in the Louisiana bayous and one day, I found Lucy's head. We think it was a coyote. I buried her alone and I'm still not over it. I feel your pain.
The thing that would make this movie perfect was that if after the end they showed someone we never met, in a place we haven't seen in the movies, after watching the Mr Glass stream simply do something extraordinary, like lifting something very heavy, etc. That would make us feel that their deaths wasn't completely in vain.
Idk though. I feel like the video being released does that all on its own. Glass’ goal was to expose superheroes to the world and that’s what he did. The video got released. I don’t think we need to see another super hero rise up because that’s already implied. We already know there’s more superpowered people especially Since there’s a whole society hellbent on keeping all of them secret.
Gaming Gazebo Don’t let his opinion of the film ruin your experience of the movie. I too loved it when it came out. Everybody goes into a movie expecting different things.
It broke your heart that a guy you dont know did not like this movie wow what a sad character you are why cant you like this movie and thats it who cares what other people say
Alec Powers I value his opinion as he always sees the best in movies and I’ve never seen him downright say he didn’t like a film. So when I saw him review my favorite film of the decade and he said he didn’t like it yes, my heart was broken. Fuck off
Interesting take on Glass, haven't seen a breakdown quite like it. So kudos for that. Perhaps your opinion is biased around real events in your life when you saw it, but as long as you acknowledge it, it makes for interesting context. Our movie experiences don't exist in a vacuum. For me, the first act is amazing, including the opening battle. It's the grounded, subversive comic book movie I wanted from Shyamalan. 2nd act is pretty good, but it relies almost entirely on McAvoy. Kevin's personalities wrestling with the ramifications of their actions and Ellie's 'evidence' are played brilliantly. Seeing Kevin unable to cope while in the light is a way to demonstrate why The Horde exists. I even like his progression. Kevin's first emergence can't handle Casey's connection, but the 2nd time, his first thought is to ask where she is (and then the third time, he fights to hold the light with her). Sam Jackson wakes up and he's doing well. And even though he's motivated for his own reasons, I loved how Glass inspires Dunn to become the hero again with the Unbreakable theme. It's almost like Lex Luthor telling Clark Kent that he needs Superman. My main complaint is that David doesn't do anything for the whole movie. It's not his story, but they setup an arc and then do nothing with it. At least with Kevin, he has a story about empowering himself to controlling the light. David believes he's a superhero, then he's told he's not. So he just thinks 'Oh, I guess not'. And then he decides he is again. He barely challenges the evidence, so he just seems passive and weak-willed. This also reflects in Willis' performance... I don't think the Willis was even really trying, which is also a shame. The 3rd act is the worst though. While I like how the action focused on how these characters damage their environment - focusing on what their fight is doing to the van was an impactful touch on a low budget - the twists did feel cheap. As you said, David barely seems to fight back after being dragged to the puddle. Kevin is finally starting to find the support and motivation he needs to hold the light and he gets shot. And Elijah literally does the dumbest thing about hiding a secret... Saying "Don't tell him yet!" in front of the person you're hiding information from is a surefire way to get punched in the chest. Elijah should be smart enough to reframe or redirect the conversation away from it. Worst of all is Ellie's twist - the secret society - and the reveal of the universe. I don't think anything sets up Ellie's twist at all, so when it is revealed, it feels cheap and unearned. This is different to Unbreakable, where Glass' description of heroes and villains perfectly describes him when contrasted against David. So when David learns Elijah is orchestrated the disasters, it makes sense. And why does Ellie reveal herself? Stating your motivation to the person you're murdering in their final moments is hardly a compelling moral decision. And the reveal of the universe is just as stated here... Who would believe this stuff these days? So I get the confusion about the movie. It does a lot very well, but drops the ball badly in some key areas that sour the rest of the film... PS. One touch I liked was how the power of David and The Beast were played differently. While they are an equal match, David seems to have more raw strength (think torque of a muscle car engine). Anything in front of him will be pushed back, even if it's slow. The Beast is more powerful and explosive (think horsepower of a supercar engine), allowing him to generate force more quickly. The Beast uses momentum to beat down each guard individually, while David pushes them all back at once. The Beast uses his environment to push explosively off walls, but David can just push him around on fair ground.
Thank you for so perfectly summarising the main issue with the film and its ending This was me and brothers most anticipated film for years and honestly left the theatre in shock that that was how he ended it, and your summary is a perfect explanation. I didn’t hate the movie but it felt like the shock of the twists came before any real substance or build up
I think meaninglessly killing the main characters is the point : it's how life works, people don't die for a reason or for someone to learn a lesson from it, they just die and that's it you have to deal with it and maybe you can grow from it but it doesn't happen in order for you to grow; so to me it made sense to pointlessly kill off characters (even though in that case I don't think it was truly pointless as it made the ending more meaningful in my opinion) and it's even something I enjoy (maybe not enjoy because it still death but appreciate) seeing in movie because it feels more real and knowing that the main characters can die makes it more suspenseful: you don't know who's going to win a fight before it happens
We know We don't care We see a movie and pay for it to enjoy it, if a good main character dies meaningless is just a very questionable writing decision and we are justifiably disgusted by it
@@FumanyuX it's not "questionable". shyamalan knew exactly what he was doing. this was the entire point. it just so happens that you don't like it. get over yourself
I've always identified with CinemaWins because it feels like we have a major thing in common: In the moment and world we live in, we want to enjoy movies. Personally, I care way less about "good" or "bad" and more of "does this movie surprise me, delight me, challenge me?" Movies like these let me down because it feels like someone misusing the trust that they engineered in you, just for a reaction or just for the trick. It feels like they take something from me or let me down, and then tell me that's the experience or lesson they intended all along. that I should be grateful for it
Dude the conclusion was perfect, and you don't have to "love" every movie you win, otherwise things would get boring. You're analysis and critiques are absolutely fair and understandable and it really shows that you're not too optomistic (Wich is a good thing) too much optomism is just as bad as too much negativity. I used to be so negative about almost everything but you've shown me that a little optomism goes a long way. Because of that I have found new respect for a lot of hated/divisive movies 1.The prequel trilogy 2.venom 3. Spider-Man 3 4 . batman v superman To name a few
I very much agree with this whole assessment. I liked Split a little more then I liked Unbreakable, but David's death really rubbed me the wrong way and I wasn't happy with it. Also I totally understand your chicken situation. I've had chickens as pets since I was 5, they are the sweetest little things. But I've lost a few of them in some not so great ways, from sicknesses to just simply being a tasty treat for predators. I'm sorry for your loss, and keep the memories with you. It sounds like you cared for them a lot, so remember that she has had a great life, that always helps me. Sending love.
I really like seeing you do movies that you don't necessarily like because you can still pick out the greatness past the flaws that you see. That's really hard for some people to do because doing the opposite is so much easier. I loved Split so I hated seeing the end of Kevin and Casey's story end so abruptly and without much purpose. I wanted them to be happier and help each other more to get past their traumas and now Kevin never will, even though he held onto the light to the very end. Seeing someone have a happy ending is much more satisfying then an abrupt sad end and it sounds like you felt the same about David Dunn. I feel you man, all of the characters in my opinion deserved better. Anyway I loved your video more than the actual film, so take that for what it's worth :) have a great day
You talking about the chickens brought me to tears. I had to put down my cat 4 days ago, who had been family for 11 years. This was after a week of trying to figure out what was wrong with her. Today especially was hitting me hard, because she used to always come up to greet me, quietly waiting until the dog would be done saying hello. Losing pets sucks, and it's amazing how much it can affect our mood toward everything else. Grief is grief, no matter who it is you're grieving.
Yeah, we have pet chickens too. On our farm, all of our animals are cherished members of the family and it's hard when we lose one. The last one was a 39 year old mini mule. He didn't really like people much but he was still very loved.
This was a great movie, but unbreakable was better. That said... Everything Great About Interstellar!!!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEE!!!!! How has this movie avoided you for so long?!?!!?
He definitely needs to do Interstellar, correct me if I’m wrong but he just had a daughter in the last year or so? I just think he would relate to that movie so much as the main theme of Interstellar is the relationship between a father and his daughter
The deaths at the end definitely leave you in a state of disbelieve, appreciate that's probably the point to make you feel that way. I wish it was different though I think its an awesome movie but I gotta say I'm not sure I'm going to rematch it often because I know that ending is going to have the same affect on me every time.
The thing with Unbreakable is that I always knew he could exist. Because there literallly is a disorder where people's bones become more dense and don't break, leaving them to sink in water. I know because one of my close friends has it. She has been in a couple car accidents and not once has she had any broken bones, and she's terrified of swimming because she goes down like a rock. It makes beach days awkward because I have LESS dense bones and float pretty much no matter what. I'm so sorry to hear about your chicken, they're like family and you are certainly NOT ridiculous for being upset about her passing. Love he video.
What I got out of this movie: - Superheroes exist in real life. The reason why comics don't come to life is because comics are exaggerated versions of real life. Real life individuals like Ellie Staple are part of the reason why society doesn't believe in these types of heroes. This movie can honestly make one believe that Superheroes exist in the real world. I used to believe watchmen was the most realistic interpretation of Superheroes, but not anymore. Death without meaning exists in life. Murderers grand plan winning in the end exists in life. This movie is not meant to give the thrill of a modern superhero movie. It is meant to give the impression that real life doesn't mean that supers aren't real. Well done shayamalon
Precisely! Idk actual numbers, but most movies have happy endings. Even some of the scariest horror movies, I feel ok going in, because... duh, good always prevails. Well, reality is exactly opposite. This is what Shyamalamadingdong's message was. I'm glad some people get it. Critical thinkers are out there. No offense, CinemaWINS, I love you. I think you should watch a few more anti-hero movies, District 9, The Mist, The Green Mile... read Stephen King? He's pissed me off all my life, but now I'm starting to understand.
I don't understand why people give Glass flak. Sure, it's not a PERFECT film, but it's Shyamalan trying to get on the fast track to good quality after Split (which this movie is a sequel to) as well as Unbreakable, meaning he'd have a lot to come up with to get better than the last film. It's the finale to a trilogy, and sometimes not every loose end can be tied up in a nice little bow (David's death included for me as well). But the Night did the best he could IMHO. In fact, the ending to this film gave off the impression that the Unbreakable universe could be expanded upon despite Shyamalan himself I believe saying this was the end of David, Kevin, and Elijah's story...but never said anything about it BEGINNING another group of heroes/villains' stories...
Yeah it's not perfect as you say but so many people say it's terrible because the big fight at the tower doesn't happen...how mindless a viewer do you have to be to think that *needed* to happen? This was never that sort of a series, it's not an action series about heroes and villains fighting each other. There's like one fight in the entirety of Unbreakable and Split is a horror/thriller. This isn't the MCU. Not liking other parts of the movie is fine but saying it was bad because it didn't have this massive CGI climax is just stupid. They wouldn't even have got away with it anyway, these guys aren't *that* strong. David could barely hold back like five guys, this isn't Zod vs Superman.
I've kind of chose to look at this movie in a new light. I didn't like it at first due to the deaths of the characters, but now I believe that the whole reason we are introduced to these characters in the trilogy is because of their deaths, and the impacts that it will have. They have these separate lives that eventually intertwine and end together. The world is let known of the superheroes. Like they said in the movie, it wasn't a finale. It was an orgin story. Because of these superheroes, many others will realize of their powers. I really want to like this movie, so I have to look at it like this. I will always love unbreakable more, but I have come to accept the movie for what it is.
Just today I watched Glass for the first time, after finally seeing Split for the first time last week. I knew I'd come watching your video just as soon as I was done, and I have to say, you nailed it yet again. Glass is an expertly crafted movie with a compelling story and intriguing characters... and I absolutely hated Dunn's death as much as you. And the more I thought about it, going back and remembering little hints that paid off at the end... yeah, it's all put together very well, but Dunn's death just plain stinks. I'm actually okay with the ending otherwise. Mr. Glass was still on his quest to prove he wasn't a mistake, and in the end, he succeeds. Your mileage obviously varied, but I think the movie actually succeeded in making the viewer (or at least me) sympathetic to his quest. His mother said upfront she knew he was a bad person who had done bad things, but in the end, he just wanted to know his place in the world, and who doesn't want that? I get it. It does make me a little queasy knowing I'm rooting for the bad guy who, comic-book setting or not, really was a homicidal lunatic suffering from delusions of grandeur, but, it actually works, and credit to Shyamalan for making it work. But Dunn dying is just... ugh. I'm sure I wasn't the only one waiting for one more twist that revealed he was still alive. In fact, I'm still waiting. With all that out of the way, I for one would like to encourage you to do more movies you weren't enthralled with, and to not be afraid to let that negativity into your product. We all know you're not being negative just for negative's sake, and you will still do your best to point out what's good even in movies you don't like. And you just might give the rest of us some much-needed ability to solidify our own justifications about why we feel the way we do, whether we liked the movie or not. As always, kudos!
There is a line Staple has that leads me to believe MNS is setting up Casey to be another super. "When there's one, there's always another" Dunn and Glass are an example, exact opposites. One with an unbreakable body, but broken spirit, the other an unbreakable spirit and a constantly broken body. Kevin split when faced with abuse which created the beast. Casey on the other hand retreated into herself, wanting to be alone.
Just watched this movie, love the review of this movie man! Keep up the good work! Also, lost one of my chickens a few weeks ago. I feel you man. RIP Rollo...
You could say the conclusions are a bonus to ega because it's more focused on your opinion. You are able to win a movie without loving it and I don't think anyone is going to complain that you uploaded this even tho it's not as positive as other videos. *Everything great about a movie doesn't have to be the entire movie*
I had a weird thought. Something that would tie glass into other franchises. What if Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees were supers like David? And the reason they became murders was because they didn't know who they could trust because of the secret organization?
Appreciating the objective approach. Unbreakable changed my whole perspective on superhero movies, it topped Watchmen for me. It was "unconventional". I do love "conventional" SH movies like the Batman, Superman, and the rest of the classics but these are something else. Glass was an amazing sequel Unbreakable needed to round it up for me. And much like you I agree on most points made although it didn't leave me bitter as much. Believe me or not I actually had a hunch since the line "you are creating a line of thoughts that never happened" that Staple is the protagonist. I literally nodded and smirked as David said it. So to me the movie didn't blow my mind away or it didn't succeed to subvert my expectations and I am the same as you when it comes to the "rug" and David's end but I still loved it very much and understand what the writer was going for. Great review btw.
I think sometimes movies are made to feel us something and this one is one of them. At the end we supposed to feel hopeful, but at the same time sad and hopeless. Some people with mental health problems feel like that for a lot of time, so I think it succeeds to make us feel somewhat broken. That might explain why we don't want to re watch the movie even though we appreciate it.
CinemaWins, I know exactly how you feel! I waited 20 years to see Unbreakable's sequel, only to be crushed by watching an anonymous mook drown David Dunn in a puddle. That one soul crushing scene killed my enthusiasm for this movie. And I guarantee you that scene was the primary reason for the bad word of mouth that killed this movie's box office momentum. Glass was released with a ton of publicity trumpeting it as the final chapter of the Unbreakable trilogy, and it was expected to be a box office smash. Then it ended up making less money than Unbreakable did 20 years ago! Whatever artistic point Shyamalan was trying to make was rejected by audiences.
Although I really enjoyed the twist at the end and I know most people wished for the tower but I really did not cared about that but I have to say I was very disappointed at their deaths and how they happened. I you agree hit like
Perspective. Personal perspective is what really makes movies GREAT. Not for EVERYONE. Not for those who MADE it. But for the 1 or 2 or 3 people who see a certain scene and they take something home with them that is ENTIRELY unique and different. We see what happens through our OWN eyes and our OWN problems or successes or achievements. Even our losses. Our emotional responses to certain moments or scenes is what keeps ME coming back to movies that many others see as "bad" or "horrible" or "boring". For me, I live that moment in my head every time I come back to that movie, and depending on WHICH movie that is, I get a myriad of feelings.....and that makes me FEEL. Why do I keep coming back? It reminds me that Im human.

It was called "a Star Wars ripoff with Owls."
It's time CinemaWins won this.
yeah, i feel this is what cinemasins lack off, true criticism and not unfunny and stupid jokes
I also viewed the triumphant score as the "rise" of the super powered people, a creation of the comic world within the "real" world.
@@defeqel6537 the score is amazing. Did you know they conducted it inside the hospital/asylum?

@Stellvia Heonheim No it's great
It's NOT a shitshow. Even Cinemawins admitted it's a great movie, it's just not for everyone.
When cinemawins removes wins, its so much more dramatic and "real" than when cinemasins removes sins

I think it's important to cover something you dislike occasionally..
Shows you can like something and still be critical
That you can dislike something and still find the good in it
That’s what cinemasins is for
Avacado 123 but when cinemasins pull away a sin it feels like that moment was way better than compared to these wins
@Stellvia Heonheim he IS right ,just because a movie has dumb stuff in it does not mean it can't be enjoyed
Incredibly well put. I agree on every level.
Tracy H, Well put and a thoughtful perspective.

@@alexmaysse607 idiot.
One part of this movie I loved and I thought was gonna get winned was the scenes of Casey's foster home where the much younger kids love and adore her, but also leave her alone when she wants to be left alone. It felt so heartwarming after seeing her suffer so much in Split. Plus hugging is always a win.
I loved the movie. The visuals, audio, and story. I just was devastated after he just randomly killing the best characters.
Yup. Same reason I actually hated Rogue One for a while. I just got over this one faster.
Kimberly that is a way over written comment
I don’t think their deaths were meaningless. The whole point of Elijah’s “Osaka Tower” plan and his actual plan was to show the world that some people are special. He did this for an ego boost and eventhough Staple knew about their powers, he wanted to prove her wrong and at the same time show the world who they are. Now this is his movie and we know he’s an arrogant narcissist so this is exactly what he’d do
I agree with everything that you said.
I also love how Glass is the Mind, David is the Body and the Horde is the Soul. All together, they form a complete person.

He's an endlessly positive person. He's never really forced positivity.
yeah kind of like ozzy man reviews game of thrones. the first half is a fun, fast paced run through of an episode and then the second half is an honest, more in-depth review

He has never said that from what I have seen of his other videos
Have you seen United States of Tara?
As someone also with DID, I found your comment offputting and false so... speak for yourself instead of trying to make a "greater comment".

Too many hashtags waters down the point you’re attempting to make.
AMEN! this channel lightens up my week every video i see, i don't know what i would do without this channel.
Regular people do."
Yes David's death was quite anticlimactic, but that's the point.
Yes! Thank you. In the real world, villains and monsters win. This is what makes the trilogy so much more interesting, frightening, ETCETERA
😋
Glass and unbreakable definitely deserve 10+ wins for the accuracy and realism of this handicao
I do think that you doing movies that you don't particularly like is good as it helps you and many of us see a different side of it that we probably missed do to how we left feeling about it. But keep up the great work man!
The honesty in every review is the reason I subbed to this channel. Awesome.
I can’t wait til he gets to unbreakable! I enjoyed Glass!
unbreakable is like the best of the trilogy in my opinion
I’d say 1. Unbreakable 2. Split 3. Glass in my opinion
Black SideKick i actually preferred glass until the third act
Unbreakable is my favorite movie of all time
@@alexgaray1216 I dont remember any movie called glass,🤔 it's only two movies right? Two good ones? Where the second ends with an Easter egg? Right?
I go back and forth on how I feel about David’s death. Yeah, it was a shitty way to kill off an amazing character. But also, his death (along with Kevin and Glass’) fit in with the very nihilistic theme throughout the first two movies. People die. The ones we see die, all seem to be good ones. It also blends with the themes of grounded realism. Sometimes the heroes die, as Batman puts it, ‘in the gutter, for no reason at all.’
David Dunn is forever my favorite superhero bring him back pls 🙏🙏🙏 just like logan I believe this character will return
Its ok to die but not that way. At least real life Christian martyrs die with honor. Or at least the first 11 did. John was spared to die a horrific death like the others.
"You like Kevin now?!"
Best. Shipping. Line Ever.
Edit: How the HELL did this thing get so many likes?!
Weird flex
@@the_aimeerowley4531 it’s just like with Superman. This guy can eat nukes and blows from gods, but a radioactive rock can easily kill him.
honestly I didn't sub to your channel for just pure positivity, even if it's in the name.
That's why channrls like CinemaWins, Captainmidnight, or Nando v Movies are so refreshing to me, how all of them can manage to remain positive and still genuinely criticise movies with valid reasoning
Plus there's the whole "well that wasn't my experience, but I see how that could bug you", which was this video for me.
And condolences to the chicken.
thank you for this cogent and kind comment!

You can survive all the terrible things that happen in the day, but when your pencil breaks it causes you to have a full mental break down... having victory over one challenge doesn’t mean it will be any easier facing the next, (and I love the subtlety of someone holding him down((just my random thought)) being another example of no matter how strong you are physically, mentality can still cause you to lose)
Of course this is all just my random opinion but I just wanted to put that all out there, I loved this movie because I felt like it truly held up to the series, just how Cassie only “beat” the beast because of his “moral code” but used that fuel to over come her own problems.
Thanks for giving this a read❤️

Wow, man. I thank you for this amazing read. I 100% agree with you and I do hope more people would see it that way.

I applaud this comment! I envy your eloquence.
Escapism is always a win, ding!
I think u should give the movies a try, all of em Unbreakable, split and glass. They're beautifully done. U might have spoiled the whole thing for u after watching this video tho

They would honor those they killed, for being extraordinary, but it didn't stop them from killing thousands for "The Greater Good."
I dunno.
"You like Kevin, now?!" Oh my Lordy.
Him just disappearing from laying there on the ground at the end or something just doesn't really add anything, it would just be a case of "Yay, David didn't die"
But like...why?
I liked glass i get why people dont but even then looking at it as a trilogy i think it works very well and is ultimately my favorite trilogy so far

Please do Atlantis the lost empire or treasure planet next!
Attempt #17!!!
I am behind this guy. Attempt #1.
I've been doing this since Megamind. It will take time but keep at it.
Yes! Several people are asking for these two movies in particular and it’s so great to see that people had the same childhood I did where they enjoyed these movies
I agree whole heartedly with you on the David Dunn thing. Another solid video
Hedwig: You like Kevin now???
I'm sorry but this is still hilarious for me
I agree with you about the ending. All this build up, and the twist is, it goes out with a whimper
I simply LOVE Unbreakable. However, I enjoyed this movie even as sad as the ending is. The ending is a gut punch, but I do still like this movie.
Also shit writing helps.
@@mhuh I get most people don't like it. But how is it shit?
Timed Revolver Kinda like with Omar from THE WIRE.
My heart was broken when you said you didnt really like this film. I LOVED it when it came out and i was so excited for this video
Gaming Gazebo Don’t let his opinion of the film ruin your experience of the movie. I too loved it when it came out. Everybody goes into a movie expecting different things.
I also love this movie, I like a lot of things others dont aswell. Just dont let it change your opinion when another person says they dont like it.
It broke your heart that a guy you dont know did not like this movie wow what a sad character you are why cant you like this movie and thats it who cares what other people say
Maybe whoever dislike this just not ready for the twist and ending
Alec Powers I value his opinion as he always sees the best in movies and I’ve never seen him downright say he didn’t like a film. So when I saw him review my favorite film of the decade and he said he didn’t like it yes, my heart was broken. Fuck off
One of the best superhero trilogies. Glass was an underrated masterpiece.
Thank you for so perfectly summarising the main issue with the film and its ending
This was me and brothers most anticipated film for years and honestly left the theatre in shock that that was how he ended it, and your summary is a perfect explanation.
I didn’t hate the movie but it felt like the shock of the twists came before any real substance or build up
McAvoy In glass, IT 2, Xmen this is his year
I like all these movies!
We know
We don't care
We see a movie and pay for it to enjoy it, if a good main character dies meaningless is just a very questionable writing decision and we are justifiably disgusted by it
People forget that the concept of heroes back then was always a tale of tragedy. No happy endings, that changed with the innovation of Superman tho
@@FumanyuX it's not "questionable". shyamalan knew exactly what he was doing. this was the entire point. it just so happens that you don't like it. get over yourself
@@MrGuy__ Ikr, he's a baby.
I've always identified with CinemaWins because it feels like we have a major thing in common: In the moment and world we live in, we want to enjoy movies. Personally, I care way less about "good" or "bad" and more of "does this movie surprise me, delight me, challenge me?"
Movies like these let me down because it feels like someone misusing the trust that they engineered in you, just for a reaction or just for the trick.
Because of that I have found new respect for a lot of hated/divisive movies
1.The prequel trilogy
2.venom
3. Spider-Man 3
4 . batman v superman
To name a few
You'll need to read Kip Thorne's book before reviewing it properly, which needless to say isn't everybody's cup of cocoa
He definitely needs to do Interstellar, correct me if I’m wrong but he just had a daughter in the last year or so? I just think he would relate to that movie so much as the main theme of Interstellar is the relationship between a father and his daughter
90% of wins would be about the score
Interstellar was my favorite movie of all time up until three weeks ago...
@@abe10alpha avengers endgame?
I agree with David’s death being poorly done and even if I didn’t I wouldn’t argue over your opinion because of your personal experience at the time
The deaths at the end definitely leave you in a state of disbelieve, appreciate that's probably the point to make you feel that way.
What I got out of this movie:
- Superheroes exist in real life.
Ign would rate this 7.8 for having not enough glass
And one too many puddles.
Really, I feel like both of us missed a water joke oppertunity since Dunns weakness is water. So yeah, too much water.

Can you please do Everything Great About The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile?!

David Dunn is forever my favorite superhero bring him back pls 🙏🙏🙏 just like logan
I appreciate the honesty. I feel like he should add it to every episode. I appreciate his opinion
