    Great vid as always. Momma Bourke must be really tolerant to allow the Gouldian so close to the nest at the end of the video. They look like beautiful birds in the making 👍🇬🇧

      They are very calm and when she was sitting on her eggs at the time the gouldians would go in the nest with her and she would let them.

      @@birdnerd must admit I'm truly amazed at that, I didn't think any birds could be so tolerant when on the nest but it's great she's so chilled 😁👍

    What’s that red liquid you have next to the feeders?

    I wondered if other animals in the house, like a dog or cat, would cause stress so they don't breed? Wondering if they have to be in a separate area or if could be in an area that we are in to be able to enjoy them? Thanks!

      That is a big possibility. Some birds get used to the cats and dogs and don’t seem to mind them. Other birds get very stressed out by them and could possibly not breed successfully because of it.

    Hi.. My lutino bourkes have hatched their first ever baby.. I'm super excited but also nervous.. They are in an aviary and not tame.. What is the best way to keep an eye on the chick and check for more hatching without upsetting mum.. Thanks sarah

      You can briefly check the nest a couple of times per week. To see how the chicks are doing and then put the nest back

    Do you have any tips on breeding masked finches? She won't sit on her eggs consistently and their infertile. Also didn't have any luck at breeding shaft tail finches.

      I just set up my shaft tails and will be doing some videos on them. I have never bred masked finches but from what I have heard they like privacy. Do you have vegitation or fake plants around their nest box. Also do you know how old the birds are?

    I am new to breeding Burke's and have what I thought was two female normal colored hens. But one is slightly larger that the other, was quite cage aggressive when I introduced a second pair in a large cage and as of late I also see them feeding each other. Is this something two females would do? Or is it possible to have a pair?

    We have a pair of Bourke's that we would like to breed. How big should their nesting box be?

    • @birdnerd
      @birdnerd  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A large parakeet nest box or even a cockatiel nest box would be big enough.

    I knew you had a bourge bird saw it before. But didn’t know you actually had a pair to breed. I have a pair of bourges but thought that the darker grayer one is the male and the light pink one is the female.... thy are very gentle birds. Now I put a big nest box out side a large cage. For them to get use to and hope thy would breed. I opened the entrance of the nest but only today I saw like you said the pinkish one is the male , I saw him very pulled up and alert. Thy have not gone inside the nest yet. But have a feeling by looking at there noses thy look oldish, to me . Thy don’t look young ! There noses are quite darkish and thick crusty...? So I really don’t know ! I paid a lot for them and was hoping I could have some babies..! I am upset with the man that sold them to me as I think thy are old birds already. Can you advise me , is that a sign thy are old or not really ..🤞🏻
