You're bringing-up old memories, Dan. This is one of the most versatile and effective lures I have used in decades of fishing. I have used a variety of shapes, sizes and colors to catch fish over 24# in freshwater, and, on the original hooks that came on the lures. Your videos are always informative and entertaining. Keep them coming.
The Black and Gold Floating Rapala that you show at the beginning of the video is the exact Lure that we call Papa when we used to go Bass fishing aa we always had good strikes on it. What a pity that l can not get these any mire as they are on of the Favorites that l would like to keep in my Yackle box. Keep up the good l work showing us.
When it is the right conditions for it, the Rapala is my favorite lure to throw. It is a phenomenal lure to throw in the northern region lakes. I have not had a tremendous amount of time fishing the deep south with it, mostly Florida lakes. But I can say with the little time I had throwing it down there... It fishes North about 8-1 in my observations. This is not scientific at all, just my personal observation. I wonder if anyone has a different opinion on this. Thanks for the history lesson. What a great history behind this lure.
My next door neighbor when I used to live in Allentown had a 9#'er mounted on the wall that he caught years back at pecks pond on that lure. I think he said in the spring time
I enjoy the history and stories mixed in with the review. Well done
Much appreciated!

Yep, that color was and still is a killer!
Great video Dan !!!
thank you
Gold Rapala with a black back was a standard go to lure for me on Lake Wallenpaupack. I don't think I ever launched without one tied on.
Excellent on Shohola too!
