I think we should be more open to non monogamous relationships so that people who want to actually be in monogamous relationships are much less likely to end up with an unfaithful person. Some people are just not meant to be monogamous but still want a life time partner. And I think that both are okay, and it's when people are unmatched where they get hurt.

Did you talk with your husband about why he didn't get you presents? Maybe he came from a non gift-giving family. In my family, we don't do gifts. We're adults with well-paying jobs, we're not dependent children. If we want something, we go to the store and buy it. I'll informally give presents to my sister and her daughters if I find something interesting in the thrift store (like, American Girl stuff in good condition). My sister might give me things she got for free but doesn't need. But other than that, we don't give each other anything. In fact, I would feel extremely uncomfortable if someone in my family gave me gifts because it's my birthday or a holiday. Could be your husband feels the same.

I got a story of a friend, think its worth sharing.
It was an internet friend, heard he was getting married and congratualated him. He invited her to liston in on a few online rpg thigns we had going on and she sounded very nice.
One day she began PMing me so much that I swore my phone was having a heart attack, claiming that the guy was a phyco, abusive, so on.
Now I knew the guy for about 3 years, meet him at a convention and he is one of the most chill people I have ever meet. Basicly, everything she was discribing to me seemed off from who I knew him as, told her to slow down, send pictures of bruises. Aparently there where a few but then I realized something and said "Send me pictures of real bruises, I can revurse surch these to google." And to that she quieted up, leaving one last message of "I will pay you 50K if you don't tell anyone." Sent screen shots of the entire conversation to friend and told him to GTFO of there before something worse happens.
He began the divorce things about a month after, documenting everything and made sure to set up CCTV home security inside the home without her knowing. Apparently he walked away with everything after she claimed to be abused, she was even polygraphed and failed that. She got a thing saying she couldn't be in a said range of this guy.
A few months later she claimed that he burglerized her home taking about 100k worth of stuff, he still had the home security thing up, was able to prove he was on the couch watching some TV series in a marathon during that time. I think she is now in a phyc ward.

You just need to find someone right for you. You have to be upfront and honest in the very beginning how you want the relationship to be. And make sure you want the same things out of life. That should increase the odds of it working out greatly. And have mutual respect for each other. That is what's really going to find you a lasting relationship. Ask them questions, like do you think you would really prefer a monogamous relationship? Why? Do you think we should be honest when we are unsatisfied in a relationship? The number one thing is communicating, you notice in a lot of these stories they either 1. Didn't really talk to each other about being dissatisfied or 2. The woman felt like she just settled from early on. Talk early in the relationship about the before mentioned things and it'll send the message more that you're not just looking for a settle buddy. This may sound like this may come on too strong but trust me, someone who's ready for a long term relationship will be of like mind. Ask them maybe like on the third date or so. If they are still intimidated by then by these questions then it probably doesn't bode well. They may just be protective of thier heart, but you just have to be honest and say hey I'm looking for a serious long term relationship. If they don't want serious then move on.
Lol I didn't mean for this to be so long but I just get sad when I see people discouraged, I'm with my bf of five years and it's only worked cause we wanted the same things and are VERY communicative about EVERYTHING. No matter how hard.

@Bunker Sieben I get that you probably suffered from love and lost faith in it. But let's not get more pessimistic than necessary. Happy couples exist and, no, they don't necessarily are trying to cover up cheating. I grew up with 3 different examples of that (my grandparents and my parents). It's an incredible act of commitment, respect, sacrifices, efforts, time and love to go through life together until one of them dies. But it exists! ^^

My ex was a very boring person & it felt like pulling teeth to get him to talk or hold hands.
I stayed with him cause I was being stalked by a classmate. By high school, I had feelings for another guy & so I left my boyfriend cause I knew I lost feelings for him. He got together with 2 other girls the same week we broke up, both girls were then mutual friends. Hugging, holding hands, kissing. He never did that with me unless I initiated.
It had me wondering if the 3 of them had been lying to me or doing something behind my back the whole time I was dragging myself & my ex trying to better the relationship. I left that whole group, tried to find a new friend circle, and now I only keep in touch with 1 girl from both circles. Even now, I won't hear from her for weeks. We're both busy trying to be adults.
I haven't been in a romantic relationship since my freshman year of high school. My experience with my ex made me believe HS romances were pathetically boring, so I avoided finding a new one or played off any interest. Once I didn't realize a guy had interest in me till after graduating. It's a little his fault for getting the teacher to help him try asking me to senior prom, as at the time it came off as an example teachers usually do to students. Nothing in the moment made me think he was trying to ask me out. I feel kinda bad for not getting the hint, but we didn't have much in common anyway. So it probably wouldn't have worked out either.
    It's not fun being lonely.

    • @Kayenne54
      @Kayenne54 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Seriously, measuring any relationship against a high school one doesn't make sense. Your own immaturity, let alone his, shouldn't be used as benchmarks for the future. Mentally, emotionally, even physically, you will have moved on, grown up, have different expectations. Let that callow idea of what or how a significant other operates go, and get on with your life.

Total nightmare to be locked up as an innocent man. Im still traumatized a year later. Police simply believe with *no evidence whatsoever* and as the man your assumed guilty. Nightmare. Needless to say I've divorced her! Guys beware, despite all we know about the basis of justice, it turns out that all it takes is a simple allegation, no need for evidence or reality in such cases.

Twice divorced woman here - now very happily married for +10 years with a son, all is well. First husband was an alcoholic which was not a big deal and accepted as normal where I was born and raised in a small town in the North East of England. Wife beating was pretty common too, just something you had to accept and put up with because "men will be men". First husband used to pass out drunk and wet the bed, usually after starting a fight with me. The day he broke my leg I knew it was over. Even one of my parents still thought he was a "lovely lad" and that "there's always two sides to the story". Second husband was a few years younger than me. Very very sweet guy, would never lay a hand on me, so, great! But he wouldn't go out on fun nights out after we married. He would encourage me to go out and have fun with my friends while he stayed at home watching TV. One night I was all dressed up, trying to persuade him again to come out clubbing with me (we were in our late twenties) but he was sitting in his armchair and had his one can of beer in one hand, his freaking tobacco pipe in the other and he was actually wearing tartan slippers. I was 26, he was 22. I wanted to share nights out with HIM. We didn't have children and plenty of income to enjoy ourselves but he refused to go anywhere or do anything. I wanted us to go on a romantic holiday to Greece together but he didn't want to, so he told me to go with my single friends instead. We were just too different and I shouldn't have accepted his proposal of marriage, but I was looking for the opposite of my first husband and thought he was it. Oh boy, that poor, boring man. I had to leave him because I was going crazy. My bad entirely. I hope he's happy now.

I believe this demonstrates the importance of dating different people early on in life and getting to know yourself before committing to a long term relationship. People have a list of positive things they look for in a person they believe necessary for a good partner. I learned (the hard way) there’s another list to consider. The negative list. A prospective partner may meet every point on the positive list but if they have one point (crazy) from the negative list, run. Run far. Run fast.

Then on the morning of July 24, 2010, I asked if I could take her out that evening. She said she'd already made plans with a male friend. She then spent about an hour on her speech about me being prepared in case it didn't work out. I just listened as she rambled on. After about an hour, she asked me if I had anything to say. "Happy Anniversary" I said.
Later that day she asked me if I wanted her to cancel her plans so we could go out. I told her to do whatever she wanted. I was done.

It means that we don’t experience sexual attraction to other people. Kind of like how a straight person isn’t sexually attracted to the same gender or a gay person isn’t sexually attracted to the opposite gender. We aren’t sexually attracted to either.
Except we can still experience Romantic attraction and such, though there are those who don’t experience that either. That’s called being Aromantic.
I myself am Asexual Biromantic. It just means I am romantically interested in boys and girls but do not experience sexual attraction to anyone.
I recommend googling AVEN (The Asexual Visibility and Education Network) if you want more detailed information. They’re a great resource for those curious about Asexuality.

Hmm. Rule No: 1 - As a new father with a baby/toddler daughter, ALWAYS greet your wife first when you come home. Ensure that wife knows you put her first. Men who make a fuss over Little Princess, actually set Little Princess up to choose men who are unfaithful. Because Princess KNOWS Mom came along before she did, but she's taking Daddy's attention away from the primary female. Both females somehow pick up on this, regardless of age, and resentment from Wife, and a skewed idea of male/female relationships for daughter is the result.

I’ve been divorced twice. The first one only lasted 6 weeks while the second one lasted about 7 months.
Something I noticed from most of these posts and my own experiences, is that for some reason, we keep missing all the red flags slapping us in the face.
It’s only a few weeks AFTER I divorced my second wife that I realised just how manipulative she was. I should have been a lot smarter and ended the marriage a lot sooner but for some reason, I just couldn’t see the red flags until the end.

@Xavier Excalibur yeah once I find the right girl. I’m not gonna let a bad marriage or two hold me back. But I will learn from my mistakes and be much more cautious next time round.

This is why if I ever be married, I'll wait until I'm rich enough to be able to pay for my wive. Heck even when I'm 40 I can just marry a 20 years old and be her sugar daddy. Like I won't put up with bullshit while I struggle to achieve success.

I lived with a woman in the early 1990s who went out with one of her girlfriends one Saturday. I went out in the yard and laid down patio stones to make a place under the one tree in the yard where I set up an outside table and chairs. When she got home I took her out and showed it to her and she asked, “Why didn’t you do this last Saturday?”
I looked at her in disbelief and said, “BECAUSE I TOOK YOU UP TO SAN FRANCISCO TO SEE A F**KING GIANTS BASEBALL GAME LAST SATURDAY!”
Things did not last too long after that.

Apart from the many, many other times she had been untrue and dishonest, I knew I had to get away when she hid several eviction notices from me, didn't let me know our car was about to be repo'd (I heard it happening outside late at night when it went down, didn't even have to look, just heard the sounds of towtrucks and such taking a car away and knew it was ours), and some other life-ruining things. I learned all of this from someone who was not her, and she had the nerve to act angry at me when I brought it up to her.

My mum married a dude with in a year. He beat her right before the wedding. Let alone no one in our family liked him. He made our lives hell for 5 years. Got away tho. Breaking point number... 17? She left a few times in the middle of the night (with me) only on school nights. Finally left for good. He didn't let anyone socialize out of the house. My mum had to keep her head down or get acussed of cheating. She never did cheat. He did. He didn't know how to delete his computer history. I had accidentally deleted a photo I wanted back. Found a crap ton of porn from an ex of his most recent stuff ranging back to before he was with my mum. With his wife before my mum who he had for 20 years. Did I mention his ex was also married?. Yes a horrible 5 years

My story is from the other side: Husband and I joined the Army on "Married Buddy Plan." In Germany, I was washing dishes from the meal I'd made after work--both of us came home from being soldiers all day. He chased our first child into the kitchen because "she might talk during important parts of the show" he was watching. I was about 7 months pregnant, with a big belly between me and the sink. The laundry was going downstairs--he wasn't the one doing the laundry. Hmmm...

1 in every 4 woman experience domestic violence, and 1 in every 5 men. The numbers are not that different. Women can be abusive and manipulative, and men can be victims. I hate that men being abused is something that is often dismissed. One of the scariest things I can imagine is crying for help and no one hearing.
