The narrative for Lily Gladstone is making history and she is the best part of Killers of the Flower Moon. I don't think the academy wouldn't want to do this. Lily will win!
I am Japanese and I would like to let you all know that Wim Weders just won Japanese Academy award for the best director for "Perfect Days"
"Godzilla Minus One" Sweeped 8 other categories including the best picture
"Mission: impossible" won the best foreign film

Congratulations! 🎉
Love the video title ❤️😂
Matt clearly knows his movies picking Poor Things for best picture LOL. Rooting for Emma Stone/Poor Things/Anatomy of a Fall/The Holdovers.
Finally, the voices of reason! There is no comparison between Michelle Yeoh and Lily Gladstone, Michelle is a Queen who was long overdue for this kind of recognition, not just based on her ethnicity but on her huge accomplishments and portfolio of work, I loved her in Crouching Tiger but also in Gunpowder Milkshake and Crazy Rich Asians. Lily doesn't have that kind of history behind her and she's not staring in the juggernaut that was EEAAO. I've been holding out for Emma to win because she had the best performance in a better movie.
Not sure about Yeoh personally but I agree there is no comparison between the two.
I think The Zone of Interest is going to win Adapted Screenplay, Best Sound and International Film. It surged at the right moment.
I would give Oppy 5 Oscar max.

Great video, I'm probably going to predict a PT/Barbie split in production design and costumes but I want to push back against the Black Panther comparison. I don't think the simple conclusion you can draw from that year is that CC simply matters more, you have to look at how well aligned the different bodies were with the Oscars as a whole. Black Panther was obviously never competitive in PD/CD at BAFTA; they only gave it a single nomination in vfx, meanwhile its reception at CC was pretty well aligned with the Oscar nominations. The comparison this year is that Barbie won at CC when they gave it EIGHTEEN nominations but lost at BAFTA where its nomination performance was identical to the Oscars (it had fewer noms because BAFTA doesn't have a song category and has a picture lineup of 5, it still made the top 10). There's this consensus that the Oscars like it more but this wasn't shown in the nominations at all with the director, actress and editing misses, meanwhile Poor Things got everything on the wish list. I really don't think you can conclude from the historical evidence that CC is just better at predicting costumes, ignoring the LLL/Fantastic Beasts situation where everyone got it wrong, the Black Panther films are the only times BAFTA have gotten it wrong since 2010, and we KNEW that those films were received massively differently between BAFTA and the Oscars, which just isn't the case for Barbie. The best argument I can make is that even if Barbie's strength in major categories doesn't differ, the increased cultural significance of the Barbie aesthetic in America is enough to get it over the line in a category like costumes that isn't as correlative with Best Picture strength.
Production design / costume is giving me nightmares. It really could go with any combination of PT/PT, PT/B, B/PT, B/B. Maybe PT is leaning more in PD and Barbie in Costumes, but its so risky to split them in your predictions.
Thank you for not counting out Paul
Very through analysis. Excellent video. The hardest category imo by far is FX.
I agree it’s Godzilla v Creator. I’m the opposite of Matt - my personal pick is Godzilla but my prediction is Creator.
One thing people aren’t bringing up is not only did Godzilla lose at VES. It lost at MPSE.
I want to pick Godzilla but sole nominees rarely win outside of song.
Emma should win and will win
I liked War is Over. I did enjoy 95 Senses and Pachyderme a bit more but I don't get the hate. Still, Once Upon a Studio should've been nominated and won.
I think it's the needledrop that people really hated
PLEASE EMMA WIN IM BEGGING 😭😭😭😭
Me, too!
this is the most stressful day of my life, watching all the review to see what people think and would pickup to be sure that Emma has still a chance so happy to see that I'm not the only one
@@suzen.655I’m with you!
This is not just about Emma( who give best performance of the year), but this gaslighting and category fraud that’s been going on with this “historic narrative” we talking about acting not stupid narratives.
@@marikamarika7205 Hi again 🤣 The category fraud thing is something I had not considered before but it is true.
@@marikamarika7205 girl i saw you in every vidéo ! i agree with you even From one point i can also totally understand people who want a real change of diversity and equality in the cinema industry all of this happens because people have been shut up and mistreat during decades
Spider-Verse will win. Too popular.
