Went there last month and have been going for years! Love the experience especially camping, hiking, and kayaking. Weather was about the same as your visit.
Great video! My wife and I live in Ventura and work in the Ventura Harbor. It's nice to have such an amazing National Park in our backyard. Channel Islands is the least visited National Park in CA
Yep this is way more fun than the La Jolla seacaves to kayak thru. Highly recommend doing the 2 people kayaks too, leaves one person able to shoot some pics and can switch off the paddling. Honestly would of been nice if they supplied Hobie Mirage drive kayaks for these tours, would of been even better, as no need to use the hand to paddle, use the feet to peddle is way easier.
Oh wow!!! How exciting!! Josh, I've lived in California for 30 years and haven't seen half of the things here until you feature them on your channel! This is why I can't wait to see your videos! Sign me up! I know what I'm doing next month!
I love this!!! I’ve always wanted to check out the sea caves. My son & I kayaked up in Santa Cruz & we got very far from shore. But it was so much fun! We saw sea otters & a water slide that the seals were playing on on the backside of an island! And so much kelp!!
Josh, When I first viewed your first Smugglers Cove hike video I was interested and bought a ticket to Scorpion Ranch Santa Cruz Island. Did smugglers cove. Within the span of two years I have been back 6 times too Anacapa, Santa Rosa Lobo Canyon/Backcountry, & the whole Santa Cruz. A world away way from Los Angeles. Leave the trouble and worry behind with Island Packers. Had many conversations with other visitors that did the kayaking and was highly recommended. I still have more hiking to do until I am interested in the kayaking adventure. The excitement you show while recording this video is the same excitement I feel in my bones when I hike mileage, swim laps in Scorpion/Prisoners Cove including Beachers Bay, or venturing into Scorpion Canyon. I am usually the youngest among all the other island visitors. Gives me great perspective and a chance to meet & befriend great people. This video right now hit the spot. Thanks for the upload! -Daniel
This is in my backyard and I’ve wondered how it was. I’ve heard great things about doing the kayak tour. I’ve been out to the islands and done many whale watching tours. When you get to see the dolphin pods it’s amazing. I’ve been wanting to camp there as well. Those island fox are so adorable. Thanks for reviewing it. I hope you got some fish and or clam chowder at andrias seafood at the Ventura marina. And maybe some coastal cone.
The Channel Islands are so unique, each one has something different to offer explorers. I've been to them all, but mostly underwater - scuba diving, used to work for a dive shop so hopping on dive charter boats happened often. I've been on a couple of the islands to hike including one of the more remote islands, San Miguel. I've only camped on one island, Catalina Island which isn't considered as one of the Channel Islands.
That was so cool!! I did it a couple of years ago for my birthday. I was the only one with a one-person kayak. Everyone else - 20+years younger than me - had 2 person kayaks. Keeping up was a challenge, and getting through those lie-down caves was doubly so. But I did it, & had an absolute blast! Wow! Your friend got some amazing whale views!! Was he the one who spent the night on the island? Figured if he was on the same last boat as you, you would have seen them as well. Good video!
I love California. I lived in Ventura county, from Thousand Oaks, for the past 50 years and recently left, it’s unfortunately changing but it’s still beautiful. I may go back one day soon.
Is it possible the kayak would flip cause of the wave? I so wanna do this but I can’t swim in open water😢 in the cave it seems like the water is relatively shallow that you can stand up right?
What month did you go? Also which kayak trip did you take the adventure sea cave or the shorter discovery sea cave trip. Looks fun would like to go. Thanks
We kayaked this about 4 years ago in a crazy rainstorm. I am almost entirely convinced we will never visit Santa Cruz and have good weather or see a fox. We are 0/2, and would love to do this in nicer weather haha. Unforgettable experience, but would never want to replicate in the conditions we had.
Josh you said that those island foxes have no predator, what about the bald eagle that you saw above the island. Those tiny foxes are suitable for them.
Blessings in an abundance of the faith. I salute you. 😘🙏Grace and peace be unto you and to this place. God bless you. 🤍🌈🤍Thank you. Will you believe and receive Jesus Christ as your LORD and personal saviour??? I do. 🤍
That looks like an awesome experience! Would love to do that one day. Thanks for sharing Josh!
Beautiful Channel Is. NP! Thank you for also including the whale video at the end!
Something i would be afraid of to go in the caves but i got to ride along with you guys so thank you👍😊

It looked really fun. I loved seeing the dolphins and pelicans.
I’ve been dreaming of doing this for decades! This is my sign! 🙌😄 Thanks so much for this and all your videos!

Thank you Josh. This was great.
Kayaking, hiking, cave exploring, and seeing a bunch of wildlife. Quite an adventure for one day!

I couldn't do this due to fear of tight spaces but it was super fun to watch. Always love the variety of content you showcase. Always fun.

Andrias fish and chips is top notch, though I did have a seagull drop a load on my chips once.
Beautiful episode, Josh 😀

I love your videos. Super helpful and i like the details like knowing how long the kayak tour was so we could figure out which tour you were on.
I dive the santacruz islands for lobster but haven't ventured with a kayak into the caves, something to try based on your videos !
Fab stuff. Looks a great time
Wow, what a jam packed and very cool day of adventure. That pod of dolphin was amazing, and it was very cool to learn about the foxes.
Your videos are getting me excited for our trip over Labor Day Weekend!
Yes !!!! I grew up in Ventura county !!! Each island is unique! ❤❤❤

Snoa
Wow, that's an amazing video! That would be crazy to get stuck on the island! Who would miss the boat?!

Awesome content today!🤗
Thanks for sharing. We are moving to California; I cannot wait for Channel Islands to be a part of our next adventure.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You're video was very helpful. Had a great time on the island.
Wow looks like fun! Hopefully I’ll go in the summer and explore the beautiful caves!
Excellent video! My husband and I lived in Carpinteria for 16 years. Yet we somehow missed the opportunity to visit the Channel Islands.
I would definitely not go kayaking cause I’m a chicken, and a big no on going cave exploring lol. But it looked like a fun adventure 😁🙌🏽
I've got to know what kind of shoes you were wearing while kayaking, the beige ones!?!
Are they water shoes or crocs?
Whelp, on my to do list.
Thanks so much for this one. I'm going to do the same trip this Summer.
We need a video of that story!
Planning for my trip: do they give everyone matching windbreakers? Trying to figure out what to wear for me and my teen boys.
Thanks for the video!!
Do you remember which tour this was? It looks perfect! But they have several options. Thanks!
Nevermind! I found your website! It was the Adventure Tour. Thanks!
Is it possible the kayak would flip cause of the wave? I so wanna do this but I can’t swim in open water😢 in the cave it seems like the water is relatively shallow that you can stand up right?
I don't mind big cave but not small ones. Juts paddling around is nice too.
Brilliant.
Was this the adventure or discovery tour?
What month did you go?
Also which kayak trip did you take the adventure sea cave or the shorter discovery sea cave trip. Looks fun would like to go. Thanks
You should do a camping trip on Santa Rosa island!
if you ever have time Potatoe Harbor is a must do! trust me

Great video 👍 Question: is paddling the kayak hard on your lower back?
Wow the sea kayaking looks fun! Not for Pops though. LOL!
Any recommendations for places to visit like this for people with mobility issues? Specifically southern ca area.
I like it video in California 👍
While Kayaking, what if you have to go use the restroom? 😀
Josh you said that those island foxes have no predator, what about the bald eagle that you saw above the island. Those tiny foxes are suitable for them.
Bald eagles only eat fish.
FAB OUTING -- WHATS IT LIKE ON A WAVY DAY?
I love Channel Islands Natl Park. This video is great.
Which Channel island do you recommend the best?
I’m afraid of tight space, darkness and.. falling into water!
7 day trip down central coast us 101?
20 dollars to bring pops through those caves
