Today Jared brings back his friend James to tackle the 1971 International Harvester Johnnie Rev, the LS swapped, Corvette suspension farm truck that's been broken for more than a year! After a tuning mishap from a former friend, the truck has just sat as Jared was disappointed with it. He then had the least questionable idea he has had in a long time, there is a LS3 sitting in the shop, and a truck needing an engine! Enjoy todays revival of the epic Corn Binder Farm Truck as it gets a 500hp heart!

Mopar swap gen 3 get rid of LS I think a Mopar would suit the international so much more and rid of those horrendous wheels they're taking away from the character. I believe some steelies with some 60 series tires and a Gen 3 Hemi N/A would be the cats meow
Jay Leno swears by vintage air
@@mclarenjohnf1 I’ve used vintage air in the past and it’s gone well, there are a few other kits out there I want to research?
@@TheQuestionableGarageJohnny what?....if I remember....
Ok as a black man and a motorhead.....🙄
@@clevelandmaker386 that’s why we call it Johnnie Rev. it’s absolutely insane what International did in the 70s…. You also have a Comanche with native glyphs down the side
FINALLY, so glad to see this back, thought it was lost forever after taking a swim with VGG!
Give James a battle axe and give off those Gimley from LOTR vibes. 🛠️
i was just about to say this...he just needs an axe and a beer...
About a month ago, I was at a rest stop on I-85, south of Atlanta. There was a lady there walking a Great Pyrenees. (BIG DOG!) Huh. That was the same as breed as Jared's.
Uh, wait a moment. Wasn't there a white Escalade near by?
Wouldn’t have been us on 85 recently!
I just told you I've been sick for some months and got some catching up to do. I wasn't lying brother. Lol. Love the channel.
After you put in the engine and you went for the test drive, the plane on the load bed suggests that it was all "plane" sailing for you. LOL.
The truck is awesome. It could use a little exterior upgrade with a spray on bed liner
Johnny ALL REVVED UP! It's about time he came back to life.
Dwayne, on the picture; I cannot imagine a better setting for a picture portrait of Jared! Definitely in his environment! Good times, Dwayne, glad you are along! James, you really ought to wear a flashy cape when you dhow up at Jared's garage! On the future for Johnny; never take him near any puddles or ponds!
Gotta love James, a man who really gets into his work. Like really into the engine bay.
I'm trying to get amd to start doing coronet parts. It might be classic industries who also might be doing corvair parts.
Yes, Editor Duane, it actually is a very cool shot. There were quite a few this episode.
4th engine! Hopefully, Johnny will never need a 5th one!
Jared...I saw the Coyote engine in the background that says Coyote Duster on the engine cover...that's just awesome! Chrysler purists are going to go INSANE, but I love it!
I wish the sticker made it in time for ford fest, but I did take it to a few car shows with it!
Awesome to see Johnny revvin’ again! Great choice of music, too!
30:24 I would like to see how the weight bias changes when you get in the truck. I thought that was why you had the camera on the indicator for the scales. 😅 🎥 ⚖️
Have watched your videos since the start when it was called wrench every day, from the moment it changed due to it beeing his(fredies) catch phrase. Since then my fewership for him declined. Also greatfull for your contribution on cartrek. But never seen the chemistry between fredie and the other 2 . Yes saw a some what betwwe tyler and ed
Jope you keep on dooing these honest and nice content for a verry long while keep it up dont let others cloud you jusgment morale or mental state in any way. You are a great guy we need more like you in this world and on youtube
The hard part is just when you think you are THIS CLOSE to being able to drive your project something else rears its ugly head. I'm an electric fan not running and a steering ram replacement away (but mostly the fan) from hitting the road but my sequential turn signals (original unit) decided to give me a fit. I think I'm going to go solid state if I can't get it freed up (when it works it very VERY slowly cycles) It's the signature part of owning a Cougar so I want them to work properly.
Jared > Tavarish
💯
Preach brother
@@thedrace appreciate you. We do different things different ways.
Why did you sell the dually?
@TheQuestionableGarage like not cheat with other friends wives? 😂
It's funny how I learned about Jared from Tavorish and don't follow Tavorish anymore lol
Same here 👀
The motor is so low you could point the air filter straight up 😂
Would help in those water crossings!
better yet, tunnel ram - without even cutting the hood 😂
I’m so excited to see the story of Johnny Reb’ continue this is such a cool build as it’s mechanically a restomod but visually such a cool piece of history! Keep up the awesome content!
Did anyone else get really nervous when the “83 minutes later…” appeared on the screen after the mini burnout? Thought maybe he blew another engine 😅
I thought he got arrested. Hehehe
That was the best music I have ever heard from a TH-camr ROCK ON !!!
Yes Duane, his head up in there is a cool shot.
The time lapse with James back had me scratching my head for a few seconds....
"My tire stack is taller than you" "yes, i know... I've been meaning to talk to you about your problem"
Hi Jared nice video 📹 and workmanship sounds good again
Johnny Bravo is back! Good going Jared!
As a former woodworker turned hoarder, I'm appalled by the hand plane sitting in the back of the truck. Could be an interesting collaboration to get it restored.
Another great video Jared! I continue to love the work that you do!
Did I miss something? Why did he sell the dually? Didn't he just get that?
Not really sure its a TRUCK. More like a car really but hey. If the hat fits a bit. A truck by another name. As a Diesel Mechanic of 35 plus years, they were NEVER a truck anyway. In Australia we call em UTEs. Nothing more or less. Ute is for UTILITY VEHICLE - much more apt IMHO. A TRUCK, loosely, carries over 1.5 to 2 metric tons PAYLOAD. The rest are just light vehicles - cars and utes etc. I can live with PICK UP just NOT "TRUCK". It just makes sense - ask SAM KEKOVICH!!! Bloody AUSSIE ICON.............Ford Australia was the first company to produce an Australian Coupe ute, which was released in 1934. This was the result of a 1932 letter from the unnamed wife of a farmer in Australia asking for "a vehicle to go to church in on a Sunday and which can carry our pigs to market on Mondays"
I'm glad Johnny is back, still waiting for the honda limousine build
Awesome video
Pulling a Corvette crank pulley this weekend. loads of fun to be had :) Replacing timing cover, bit leaky. Maybe see ya soon :)
Whenever i put engines outside, i put them in oil. Cheap synthetic oil. Pop the engine in the bin, pour and rotate it several times and pop the cover over. I've some engine blocks that were out in the mid 90's, still waiting for the right time, no rust on them whatsoever, they look like they've been machined yesterday. Given how cheap it is, there's no point in not doing it.
Great video. Love the content. Hope you keep continuing to grow and be more successful .
Jared, please stop just trying to add more horsepower to everything all the time! What is it with US car people? All you guys and gals seem to be obsessed with is crazy bhp. Make it handle like a Lotus, and you won't need to worry about loads of power, it will out-corner anything you might come up against on the road. Real racers go round corners.
It weighs just a bit less than a 73 firebird. Firebird is about 3800 and change.
A rolling burn out! Awesome!
So if cars have souls the issue may be that driver side fender. I love patina, it that fender hurts my eyes and the truck’s soul may be suffering. Maybe pretty her up a bit (faux patina is acceptable psst pssst, scrub pssst) instant pretty. That should make her stand up and show off….or maybe not.
My grandfather told me " you quit making mistakes when you reach room temperature". Don't feel bad.
Cant wait and good job on getting the truck fixed
You’ll probably get the AC free or heavily discounted being a TH-camr but if you’re paying out of pocket. ECC Auto Shop out of Florida had the best prices I’ve found. 600 bucks for EVERYTHING but the compressor bracket to mount the compressor to the engine and belt. It includes sanden compressor, drier lines all of it but the engine bracket. I love mine and I been telling everyone. It’s half price of vintage air IF you’re paying out of pocket
And like any Corvette why don't you have independent rear suspension
Farm Truck.....FARM TRUCK...Where have I heard that term on a beat up hot rod truck before ???
One big difference is the International Harvester company is one who made big gaming equipment
"we"re going to enjoy about 100- 140 extra horsepower".... for about a 100 - 140 feet.
Awesome truck!
Ugly wheels.
I agree. Need to get something better on it
Cool Truck, Cool Truck Name, Not Cool Rear Tires. Johnnie Rev is in beast mode
Temp check. 60F in the UK
Brrrrr! 90 degrees in sunny South Carolina.
90 in Maryland
last week omaha hit 111F with the humidity index. toasty warm!
91 here in the bluegrass of Kentucky
OMG! How are they still ALIVE! 😄
Also an International truck has never gone so fast before. Very cool!😎
Not sure if it’s been rebuilt or you were lied to. But that’s a lq4. Lq9 has flat tops. I have many of them. Or maybe that was comment bait… if so, color me fooled lol
It was a lkq reman, and it was vin coded a lq9 from the truck, but I totally missed the pistons and you are right!
@@TheQuestionableGarage wasn’t trying to be an ass just to be clear. lol. You’re gonna love going from 9.5:1 compression 6.0 to a LS3.
Why did you sell the dually? You just upgraded to the newer one recently if I recall correctly.
I thought that LS was supposed to go back to J&J along with the coyote? Got a project for the coyote too ?
I love this truck but it would never would be road legal we're i live because of the body alone.
Did you say you were swapping out or swamping it out after getting it out of the water? 😅 Either way, I'm sure this is going to be another fun one ! 👍🏼
I am hoping for a win. Got back to work on my MK IV 12v with some vicarious moral support through your channel to find out that the piston rings never seated when I rebuilt the engine, so having to start from bare block once again. I was hoping I wouldnt have to, but I do.
Sorry to hear that! Double check what you use as your ring oil during assembly, make sure it isn’t assembly lube as that will keep the rings from ever setting(learned that on a evo x engine!)
@@TheQuestionableGarage Wouldnt be surprised. I will send ya some pics to your channel email. Working on so not looking for a response, but figure you would appreciate a good story and how your channel was part of my motivation to getting back to work on something I essentially abandoned.
Resurrecting a garage find. Catch is was my own car in my own garage.
I want to see Weld bead locks on the back with drag radials
Recently purchased a 68 F100. Manual transmission, questionable wiring, questionable brakes, questionable everything. No AC.
Is that...yes, yes it is. I smell adventure .
I love this magical hobbit mechanic you have with you here he's awesome
I wish I could afford to have James around more!
he's almost a regular
lol you could 871 blower in there and know one would know well until you start it
Awesome video Jared, and yes Dwayne, that was an amazing shoot, Jared you should try racing scraplife Lee’s srt 10 viper/hellcat swap truck, it would be very interesting!!!!!
Hihi, i'm on my 6th engine in my 3.0l V6 dCi Renault Vel Satis (the infamous P9X 701), finally forked in the Opel variant... now i'm comfy.
Awesome content as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
Glad you enjoyed
This reminds me so much of my F100. Not quite as modern, but Crown Vic front, Explorer rear axle, Holley Sniper, Vintage Air. Running a mildly hopped up 347 stroker. I love a ratty hot rod truck.
Did James forget his battle axe in Mordor
You need robby Layton to do a sick paint job on this truck
Nice glad to see its return
Nice to see your name! lol
10:14 - Just watching getting the engine out, hurts my back. So that’s what 90% humidity looks like. (Rusty engine block)…
Bout damn time...love your channel and enthusiasm...but it seems like so many of the tubers ..stop messing with the projects consistently that brought us all in for filler videos...I get it..things cost...but stay the course...glad to see the core flock vehicles getting more attention
Liked, shared and commented 🍻🤴🏻🗽 32:11
Nooooo! Salutes in the chat for the departure of the duelley
Maybe if you didnt keep stuffing overrated ls engines in it you might not have to replace engines constantly. Theyre supposed to be so cheap simple and reliable yet people are always having trouble smh. They buy into the internet myths.
No, the last engine 100% fell victim to a bad tuner. He has a long list of blown LS’s to his name. Two of mine. Learned my lesson
Why did you get rid of the dually?!
8:23 yea Im not that far north of you outside of Nashville TN , today my garage thermometer was 102F (damn near 39c) and almost 90% relative humidity
57/43 weight bias is really good Jared. Plus the weight in total is pretty darn good man.. nice job!
Corn binder👌
those rear wheels need more dish...
it objects to having anything but a 392 in it, lol
Glad to see the old boy back up and running
Saw the "83 minutes later" and my hart sank. I thought something went wrong. Love seeing that truck back.
Jared, just a thought to save you some potential wiring gremlins in the future. Not sure if you did it yet or not, but take some small vacuum or small diameter fuel line an slice it down the middle. Then place it around the hole in the firewall to prevent wire abrasion. Just a thought to prevent future issues
Definately one of my most favorite build, the frame really needs some rust inhibitor and some paint, and it would be so mint, Absolutely love this truck man
Lol those mufflers were not aluminized they wete probably just high temp silver sprayed... the tubing looks to be aluminized
So what water pump did you end up using? Something specialized from Summit?
Hoping you do 4 link in the rear, and is that a brick for a house that sits close to the engine???? Regards sören
You need an automobile swamp cooler!
I think I've seen one in the shop. But, real AC is better!
Jeez Jared… couldn’t lower the truck a bit to help your buddy reach easier? Poor guy needed a milk crate
When you said you sold the dually did you mean you sold the gmc denali you had?
Your truck sounds great. Your ISF in the weeds hurts the Lexus boy inside me.
So I didn’t see anywhere in the video what water pump you ended up using
Jared remove the incomplete side trim
I love this truck more and more! Good thing James can fit into tight spaces!
It feels Amazing.
#tshirtidea
Jared putting the hot in hot rodding.
LET'S GO!
I bet this thing handles amazing 🤩
Glad to see Johnny Reb back on the road. Are you going to tell us why you sold the dually?
Love the old IH. The wheels and tires are "Questionable" in my very humble opinion. They ruin the old farm truck vibe.
maybe this truck needs an exorcism against water seeing what happened to it - there is something going on
