  • Dr. Alexis Cowan completed her Ph.D. in molecular biology from Princeton University and uses her continuing education to share principles relating to light, mitochondrial, and circadian biology. Our conversation was unique in that Dr. Cowan offered a deep dive into the specifics of the scientific research that supports the knowledge she shared. We discussed Dr. Cowan's outstanding health journey, different kinds of sunlight and its effects on the body, and how light patterns affect hormone health.
    WHAT WE DISCUSSED:
    How health complications throughout her childhood led Dr. Cowan to pursue a significant weight loss journey and understand the root cause of her symptoms.
    What are the benefits of the different variations of light waves? What profound effect does each wavelength have on the body's wellbeing?
    What body parts are best exposed to sunshine for maximal sunlight absorption?
    Breaking through the myths of wearing sunscreen and sunglasses to block sunlight.
    How does cortisol dysregulation occur? How do light and darkness contribute to cortisol and melatonin production?
    How can eating high protein early in the morning impact blood sugar and cortisol release?

    Take a few minutes outside before work, take a walk during your lunch break and a walk after dinner. It’s possible but you need to prioritize and think about it.

      @@shanahussin I’m a Fitzpatrick 1 blue eyed and fair skin practically my whole life. After 4 months of morning light I can stay in the sun ☀️ in florida for hours and zero sunburn. I’ve eaten clean for 25 years so that’s never an issue but what is really mind blowing is that we make in pounds more than our body weight in ATP per day!! Gilbert Ling figured out the math that only 1/3 of that will come from a 2000 calorie a day diet. Where does the other 2/3 come from to make 180 lbs of ATP (in. My case )??? Answer: THE SUN and being grounded!! That’s if your mitochondria are running optimally and 95 percent of America that is not happening. So Leptin resistance in your fat cells is getting worse from our environments. So you are stimulated to eat more to make up the difference and we all know when an organism looses energy it gets BIGGER! OBESITY IS CAUSED BY OUR ADDICTION TO TECH AND LACK OF SUNLIGHT. we eat more because of the leptin resistance and now we know the cure but try and convince everyone to go outside let’s just say is not easy and to go on a TECH DIET!

      I've been doing this for 4 months and the SAME!!! I have gone from insulin resistance after 6 babies to being cravings free and waking up each morning feeling like I have less fat and more muscle doing absolutely nothing but changing my life environment!!!

      How long do you stay out during sunrise? Do you look at the sun?

    • @BODYCOACHable
      @BODYCOACHable 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@peterpiper5300 no you don’t look at it maybe 15 degrees left or right if it but how long depends on how much time you have. Barefoot for sure in the grass if possible! I would recommend if your indoors for work you would need to go outside every hour for at least 5 minutes. The clocks in your skin need to know what time of day it is also.

    Also...the whole ancestry thing was what theyy had to deal with...however, it wasnt ideal. So doesn't mean we should only eat meat & fat because nothing grows in sub zero temps. We have access to many nutrition dense foods that are beneficial now.
    I tried keto & intermittent fasting14 months & ruined my thyroid, my hormones, sleep, mood, blood sugar & cholestrol to pre diabetes levels etc. At 60 yrs old...very bad move. Now 3 years later eating pro-metabolic,fixed my gut, outside light & red light therapy ,lymphatic work, iodine (Dr. Brownstein) & eating ALOT more food 3000 calories (Rooted in Resilience podcast) & Energy Balance podcast.
    In 2 yrs Im back to excellent health and weight. Women need MORE FOOD!
