- video about ballverwatch, this might be the only video I ever make on overwatch, despite having played it for a solid 6 months of my life.

Overwatch kinda blows, daring opinion I know, but I’d like to explain my stance a bit. When Overwatch originally released in 2016 people thought this game hit the peak of it’s popularity. You could hop in, play whatever hero you wanted, and have a fun time with your teammates trying to capture a point or push an objective. Over the years support for the game waned and people who once liked the game were alienated by either balancing changes made to the characters, characters who were introduced, and/or just general disinterest and burnout over time. Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, I didn’t play Overwatch during this time period, and I didn’t truly pick up the game until like December 2019.
And despite the meta at the time, I found myself enjoying Overwatch overall. It was just a really fun time and for $20 I definitely got my money’s worth, however after some self reflection I’ve come to realize that I’ve never actually played Overwatch. See Overwatch is a team based FPS game most comparable to something like TF2, but for the sake of this video I’ll be comparing it to CSGO, only because I’ve never really sat down and played TF2 normally. In a game like CSGO teamwork matters. A team that works together to accomplish a task is the one that will win 9 times out of 10, that one time being the exception where someone on the other team could just suddenly frag the fuck out. That doesn’t happen in Overwatch, instead the teamwork factor is turned up to 10 because if you do not work together you will lose, end of. There’s a lot of strategy that goes into swapping out characters to counter others, if there’s a phara on the other team and you don’t have a hitscan DPS, someone might want to swap. If your tanks are Hog and D.va and you’re playing into a team that has two shields, you might also need to get some shields or characters that do well against shields to counter that team. These are all strategies that I never participated in.
Instead of actually engaging in and playing Overwatch, I instead played a game I like call “ballverwatch”. If you haven’t already guessed what I mean, Ballverwatch centers around one single character, Wrecking Ball. I don’t really understand it myself but playing ball is the only way I can actually enjoy playing Overwatch with my friends, and I truly mean only with friends. Playing Overwatch by myself is one of the most boring things I could imagine doing right now, it’s definitely a game that needs friends to really enjoy. Wrecking Ball is interesting to me because of the way he plays, he’s a character unlike all of the others in the sense that he’s truly focused around movement. Choosing to play him, and only him, feels like you’re playing a completely different game. While on the surface I technically have 7 other tanks to choose from, Ballverwatch has just 1 character, you either fit your playstyle around your team, or lose, and I like it like that.
Cry about it all you want, call me a terrible teammate, beg me to switch to a different hero, but that’s all apart of the fun of my game. If god intended for me to play other heroes in this game, he would’ve made them fun to play. Ball is fun because of his movement, I’m literally a ball, but the twist is that I have a grapple hook to swing around structures at the leisure of my 5 second cooldown. And this swinging isn’t half baked either, I have momentum, and opportunities to do extra damage if I’m actually good at using my grapple. My ground pound allows me to stun enemies in the air and do extra damage with my guns, and after entering a fight if I get overwhelmed I can press E, get like 500 “extra health” in shields, and just exit the battle. This doesn’t even begin to touch on the extra tech locked behind the skill ceiling of Ball. Obviously I’m not claiming to know everything about wrecking ball, or that I’m even good at the character (I’m not trust me), I just claim to know what’s FUN about the character, and that’s what matters to me.

Now all I have left to do in Overwatch is wait for Overwatch 2 to come out, if it ever does, and see what happens with my favorite stupid little hamster. Considering Overwatch 2 seems to just be, literally Overwatch, but again, and with only 5 person teams instead of six, I have absolutely zero expectations, and at this point whatever they reveal will be better than what I expect, which is literally nothing, so good luck Overwatch 2 devs, you’re really gonna need it. - เกม

dude the way you are describing what you like about overwatch and other games, makes me really surprised you havent spent 1000 hours as soldier in tf2.

I miss Overwatch. I know how weird that sounds, seeing as it's still active to this day and I could just fire it up. But something's changed about it, I havent played it in almost a year, and it used to be my favorite game.
I feel the same way about TF2. no other game killed TF2, TF2 killed TF2.

the most fun i've had with recent overwatch is when i was with an actual team, for like tournaments and stuff (actually really easy to get one literally just look up tournaments for [rank]), the coordination and just the pure "me and the boys" energy was great
For most of my time playing OW I pretty much just stuck with Soldier 76, Mei, D.Va, and Hanzo no matter what the situation was simply because I liked playing them.
I feel in a similar way, but with Symmetra. Once you discover the infinite possibilities of her buildings, there is no going back. Also her gun is super satisfying to use when it gets to lvl 3
Honestly, there should have been a game mode of only all the hypermobile characters. Ball + Lucio + Pharah + Junkrat + D.VA etc

One time, me and some friends were playing no limits, and we left spawn at the beginning of the match to find the entire enemy team had gone wrecking ball and was twirling around something in the middle of a choke point.
We were laughing so damn hard. I don’t like Overwatch anymore, but that memory is something I’ll always cherish.
His mentality is exactly why I stopped playing. In a team game where you need others to win, people are so set on only playing one character they ruin it for everyone on their team. You have no idea how many games I lost because a Genji main didn’t swap.
Or maybe you are just bad.
And your mentality is why I never got into comp and stopped playing overall. Overwatch spend so much time building fun and interesting charakters, but once in comp I cant play my favourites because they are not meta or a counter is needed.

One of my favorite characters to play was original symmetra because she was less mobile than the other characters. Setting up a microwave room or chokepoint and holding it (usually alone) was hard but when it worked it was insane.
Casual gameplay, goof around with friends, in-depth gameplay, crazy movement options. These are the exact reasons I play TF2.

I met one of my favorite gamer friends because we kept getting re-balanced onto the same team and totally demolished as a full 6-member Torbjorn squad. Easily the most fun i've ever had in Overwatch, but now that same fun isn't possible.
Try playing doomfist too, he and ball are probably the most interesting and unique characters added.
I think what your describing about ball is why Genji was one of the most popular dps characters, he was just fun to play, it was fun to zip around, run up walls, and jump over your opponents, and when you timed your ult well, that was a fucking serotonin boost for the rest of the day

I play like this too. Sometimes I wanna just play Hog and don't care what my team wants. Hogs just really fun to play. But I take the game seriously sometimes because I like it, and I have to play like Orisa instead (I actually like playing Orisa, just not as much as Hog). I can relate to this video on so many levels.
I got into Overwatch on Switch in December of 2020, I have enjoyed it but I’m getting tired already since there hasn’t been any new characters introduced since I started. I wish they would add new stuff to the game.
I remember playing Symetra before she got her new ult and rework, in Ranked. I got trashed on by my team for holding them back but at then end I noticed I got all the gold metals bar healing. AND I had a good time. I really was the winner B)

It's been forever since I've played and enjoyed overwatch but I always loved Ball. I usually played Rein or Sigma but Ball was always the most enjoyable.
When I play I play sombra. I rarely kill. I just hack a health pack. Throw down a teleport, run in to hack some random dps, shoot for a millisecond, teleport back to full health and repeat
I remember the good old beta days of 6 stacking genji and just dashing around the map like a bunch of apes.
Remember playing as Reinhart with couple buddies in deffence and end up in a clutch between me and reaper hugging up the payload. By some kind of a miracke managed to kill him with a shockwave just before i got my reinforcements. We won. Best match i had.

I love Paladins so much more than Overwatch for all of these reasons. All the alterations to the mechanics in the game compared to Overwatch really promotes player expression and personal skill on top of teamwork that Overwatch doesn’t match imo. Plus I’m playing Moji EVERY fucking game and no one’s gonna stop me.

Game was so fun for a while but it all started going downhill when brig and moira released. Hasn't been the same ever since. Paladins is pretty damn fun for me to this day though

Yeah ball is a hated character for me I can’t get my head around his mechanics, his guns feel like shit due to the constant reloading and I ducking depose playing against him because of the CC and quick escapes
Overwatch is probably a game I played the most in my life. I starded playing it like 3 months after the realese and I compleatly agree with you that this game has gotten way to competative. Because it really is the most fun when you can just fuck around with your friends. YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE EXACTLLY 2 TANKS, DPS AND HEALER CHARACTERS TO WIN. This system has just made the game really fucking boring, because there i no uncertanty and freedom. It's good for the competiton but it made playing overwatch a 1000 times less fun. It's just the fact that every match was a new experiance that made it a great game.
There has been open que for I think the past 2 or 3 years, it came out a few months after role lock. And role lock was added because in higher elos playing dps was throwing. To this day in open que people still run 3 tanks and 3 support.
