Also an Ayreon Video The gal that Inspired both Floor and Simone from The Gathering appears on with Floor Jansen (ReVamp,After Forever, Now Nightwish) and Marcelo Bovio(MaYaN) her name is Anneke Van Giersbergen( The Gathering,VUUR) The song is called Ayreon The Valley of The Queens
This was a 10th anniversary show so that's why they had a full orchestra. normally they do not, DID you know Floor released her 1st ever SOLO single with a music video 3 weeks ago called (FIRE) you are so going to love this - th-cam.com/video/Utz4gFG3HF8/w-d-xo.html
Yes! When two incredibly talented and powerful soprano singers get together…. Amazing. Throw in a great arrangement, an orchestra, and a choir and it is just a total eargasm.
Hey Sky. I knew you'd like this, when I saw it pop up. And seriously, this show had 26 songs, with a full orchestra, choir, TWO visits from Floor Jansen, acrobats, and more! It was the very *definition* of overdelivering for your fans - so great! Another from this show that haunts me is "Chasing the Dragon". Your reactions are excellent- Rock on!!! 🤘😎👍
two angels and also two greet friends for a long time. during this show Simone was pregnant....both Dutch. one of the guitarplayers was a member from Floor's former band.
I’m glad you listened EPICA, you gained one more suscriber! Probably not the most representative song of them, therefore I recommend some songs (live and with orchestra/choir most of them): - Chasing the Dragon (live Retrospect) - Unleashed (live Retrospect) - Design Your Universe (live Retrospect) - Unchain Utopia (Omega Alive) - Kingdom of Heaven Part 3 (Omega Alive) - Consign to Oblivion (live Zenith)
This is easily one of Epica's softest songs... for something from the other end of the spectrum you should check out "Consign to Oblivion-live from the Zenith"
I've been following Epica since their first album, love them. Simone doesnt growl, but the guitarist, Mark, does death-style vocals on a lot of their songs. They don't always have live symphony and choirs, but their music is full of cinematic orchestral score and choir. I think you'd like some of their heavier songs, too- they have a whole different metal style from Nightwish. "Kingdom of Heaven pt 3" from their newest album is pretty great, one of their long theatrical ones. A couple shorter ones you might appreciate are "Essence of Silence" and "Beyond the Matrix". Of course, there's so much good stuff from them🤘
Fkin rights ... Rivers - Epica , if your in a chill out mood. Glad you loved the goddesses. They were college roommates. 😉 And the best of friends. Epica and Nightwish are the premier symphonic Metal bands. Nightwish live, the orchestra and choir are prerecorded. Most of Epica live has live orchestra and choir. Sometimes prerecorded. Glad you got to them 💋🌹💋🌹💋🌹💋❤️
Simone didn't go full windmill as 3 months pregnant. Floor is such a great accompanying singer as she matches tone and style to whatever is needed. If you like drummers try Kai Hahto the new Nightwish drummer playing with Wintersun in The Sons of Winter and Stars. th-cam.com/video/Tl5T-glTdXw/w-d-xo.html
Jaap friend! It's nice to see you here! You are right Simone have one of the most beautiful crystal clear voice I've ever heard! Floor, Simone and Fabienne have to do a collab in future!
You have that right, Sky ... it's the water, cause those Dutch girls have the pipes! I love how you were gasping at their affection for each other. Simone & Floor are very dear friends. They both do a lot of work with Ayreon, Arjen basically discovered Floor when she was sixteen. The guitarist in Epica was in Floor's first band, After Forever. There is a ton of friendship between Epica and Floor! But who doesn't get along with Floor?
So awesome you got to this tune Sky, 2 metal queens getting together with the amazing musicians of this band is a true sight to see!, Floor and Simone are actually real great friends beyond the band also...cheers! 🤘❤
If you like this then you should do also to see Somewhere by Whitin Temptation (Sharon den Adel) ft Anneke van Giersbergen. Anneke is the godmother of Dutch metal. th-cam.com/video/ScjEJRIZGvg/w-d-xo.html
That is a nice story, but not true. Floor is a few years older than Simone and did attend the rock acadey in Tillburg and then followed up with studying musical and opera. Simone never attended a music school. She joined Epica right from normal Highschool, but she had private music lessons for 6 years. What they did share however was having Amanda Somerville as vocal coach. Simone and Floor probably came to know each other when Simone became the girldfriend of Mark Jansen at the time Mark Jansen was together with Floor Jansen in the band After Forever. Later Mark Jansen left After Forever and founded Epica. A couple of years later, After Ferever was disbanded and Floor fored her own band Revamp. in 2010/2011 Revamp and Epica toured together and Floor and Simone started to do guest appearances in each others band. Floor would join Epica for Sancta Terra and Simone would join Revamp for Sweet Curse. So at the time of this 10th anniversary concert, Floor and Simone where quite used to singng together. Here is a video of them doing Sweet Curse together. Not the best quality, but quite OK for a Smart Phone recording: th-cam.com/video/xmYzLIB6OjU/w-d-xo.html
If you loved this (and you obviously did) might I suggest Stabat Mater Dolorosa from the same concert, also with Floor. Quite different, but then again.... Also, as mentioned below, some numbers from Ayreon live: Valley of the Queen's, The Day the World breaks down, Everybody Dies, Eye of Ra, to name but a few...
All the people on here saying Floor is more powerful probably don't realise Simone was 3 months pregnant at the time. I find it amazing she managed to do any part of this concert let alone 2 hours+ on stage.
Hi Sky! Oh, yes! A new NW/FLOOR (and Epica) reaction from you! This 2 laidys sounds so good together, what i know they were at the same time in the music Conservatorium. I like this song, they 2 are good old friends and they did some other songs together like Stabat Mater Dolorosa what i also like but it's a very different more classic style song. After NW is Epica my 2nd favorite band. I would like it very much if you could do reations from the Epica songs "Unchain Utopia", "The Skeleton key" or "Kingdom of Heaven Part 3"! I think you would like this 3 songs too! But the whole virtual "Epica - Omega Alive" Show they did last year, because that fu××ing Covid virus is a true masterpiece! This songs are so good!. I think you would love the whole show too! Check it out ifvyou have time! If you make an reaction of an Epica song i would love it if you make an reaction from "Kingdom of Heaven Part 3" first because i like this song so much! I wish you a great long easter weekend. And a happy lomg easter weekemd to you Sky! Greetings to you from 🇦🇹Vienna🇪🇺! Bye!
EPICA! Just a great band to check out. Simone is a fabulous singer... you will find out if you listen to some more EPICA. This concert is a very good start, and 'Omega Alive' tracks are awesome. Another great Dutch band performing on stage with full symphony orchestra is Within Temptation; check out their 'Black Symphony' concert.
When you said you were reacting to Floor AND Epica, I knew where you were going and couldn't wait to see and hear your reaction. Did not disappoint in the least. Combine Floor and Simone and it's just UNREAL. Great way to go Ms Sky, keep on rocking it ❤️😁
Sky, you crack me up !! I love your reactions, well thought out and sincere, you come across as 'soft, 'elegant' and 'demure', and then, out of nowhere, the most 'marshmallow' of 'F' bombs drop on us and envelop us in the sweetest coating. I sooo love it....never stop....you are totally intriguing !! 😊😊🤗🤗❤🤘🤘
hello sky, thank you for your fine reaction and a happy weekend for you. yes, the dutch have some serious female Rock/metal singers. floor and simone. then sharon den adel (within temptation), their song "dangerous" feat. howard jones! could be something for you. then there´s anneke van giersbergen, the woman that brought floor to metal. her colab "amongst stars" with amorphis you could also like a lot. both recommendations are OV.
Epica was my intro to symphonic metal, they are slanted more metal than a lot of other bands in the genre, Epica really mixes the heavy and symphony, Simone does the sweet vocals and then Mark brings filthy growls in many of their songs. They only very rarely do the whole live orchestra thing, this was a very special show, but the keyboards (like in Nightwish) bring that aspect. Lots, I mean lots of superb songs, I love Martyr of the Free Word, Abyss of Time, Cry for the Moon and Design your Universe - but honestly watching the entire Retrospect concert, which this video you just watched is from, is a superb use of ones time.
I love Epica as well. Now here is what I've heard about the connections between Epica and Floor. Floor and Simone Simons (the singer from Epica) are VERY VERY good friends and have been for a very long time. One of the guitarists in Epica (or is he a basist? I don't recall exactly) named Mark Jansen (no relation to Floor) was in a band with Floor called After Forever
I'd also suggest Ayreon Simone and Floor have worked with Ayreon on numerous projects The Day That The World Breaks Down th-cam.com/video/oFuMKdrzPqU/w-d-xo.html has both Simone and Floor on it with 9 other Metal singers.
If you really want to hear two angels singing, you need to listen to Simone & Floor's first duet of that concert (Sancta Terra was the 2nd song they did), called "Stabat Mater Dolorosa". It's a must.
Epica is pretty great! If you want something a bit heavier from them check out their song "Victims of Contingency" from their "Omega Alive" performance. Great stuff!
back from Vacancy, saw you did this Recap, well i thought you will dig this, and if it is only for the two Juggernaugts at the Microphones:) Happy you really enjoyed it! Stay Healthy! NWArmy Bavaria North out.
Great reaction Sky I want to suggest you another great song by Epica: -The obsessive devotion (Same show Retrospect 10th anniversary) You will love this band 🤘🤘🤘
Hey big nightwish fan if you like this should check out Floor and Tarja together singing the song over hills and far away live you rock and are pretty need more metal chicks
Epica is a band you should check it's usually heavier than Nightwish both of them amazing bands, Simone's voice is a pleasure to hear. Check the Unchain Utopia (Omega Alive), Stabat Mater Dolorosa ft Floor Jansen (Live at retrospect), Design you Universe (live at retrospect), Rivers (oficial video), Dreamscape (live at pinkpop 2014) & Edge of the blade (oficial video) beautiful songs 😉🤘🏻
Simone has a beautiful voice, I may even like it better than Floor's for what she does. But she does not have the versatility of Floor. She does one thing and it's really beautiful, but it's one thing. I've never heard her growl or even get raspy. It's like Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation)... again, beautiful voice and delivery but she does just one thing. Floor is the master, so, so technical, so many tools in her toolbox combined with stage presence, connection to her audience, story-telling, drama... she's just an incredible combination.
Thanks sky i love how you react in these videos you are so honest and thoughtful. I am glad tou have got to epica consign to oblivion is an amazing song you might like . Keep up the great work keep the world happy
Check out the live album. Classical Conspiracy. I believe it was the first time they used a full orchestra and the first 12 songs were a mix of classical and film scores (empire march from Star Wars is my favourite) then they followed up with 16 tracks from the band
This is excellent. I was asked to see this because you were beautiful, you are, but great brain, eloquent, and funny. A joy. ...........Deep Purple next please - you'll love them
Both Nightwish and Epica are great symphonic metal bands; Epica comes from the Netherlands, Nightwish from Finland (with a Dutch singer and UK multi-instrumentalist and singer). In my opinion the main difference is that Epica often sounds much more heavy metal (although also some Nightwish songs sounds very heavy) and in Epica two male singers growl (not Simone), in Nightwish Floor is doing the growling ("Yours in an empty hope" is a good example for this). And IMO there is more musical variety in Nightwish songs than in Epica songs. I really like both, for example possess the DVD box of this Epica concert "Retrospectiv", but - if I may say this - I prefer Nightwish because of their songs being more varied and always with great profound texts.
epica rivers ,and freedom the wolves within are good songs , but they have numerous good songs i see there is also a bunch of other good suggestions here enjoy 😁
Anneke (van Giersbergen), Floor (Jansen), Sharon (den Adel), Simone (Simons). Dutch fab 4. Anneke is the godmother (of smile metal). Both Floor & Simone have said that they were inspired by Anneke to front a metal band. As to our water over here, maybe it's abt what is not in it. No fluoride ;) Cheers from Amsterdam!
Hi Sky, great reaction, yea Epica is an amazing band, you can explore it a song at the beginning of the band like 'cry for the moon' and later continue with 'stabat mather dolorosa' and 'unchain utopia'
Hi there great reaction If you'd like to listen to more dutch metal queens I'd suggest Sharon den Adel - Within Temptation Charlotte Wessels - Delain Dianne van Giersbergen - Xandria Greetings from Sweden
You would adore Simone Simons singing from The Little Mermaid. She and Floor both do Disney songs lol. I think they both want to be cast as voices of Disney princesses.
Floor is dutch, epica is dutch i'm dutch and if there is something in the water here....it doesn't work for me.....i realy don't think the world is ready for my voice
Hey Sky, You haven´t watch Tarja the first Nightwish singer. She´s for me the only true NW singer. Love Floor too. My favorite songs: Sleeping sun, Walking in the air, Wishmaster, Phantom of the opera. Check out.
SO..... Epica... First: Simone Simons + Floor Jansen = POWER COMBO Epica is Epic (well deserved name for the band). Simone and Floor are good friends (they are both Dutch) and both classically trained . WHEN Epica hit hard, they are heavier than Nightwish. But they also have some really beautiful, soft and tender ballads. And they often ”cover themselves” in completely different styles (jazz, Irish folk, klezmer…). Epica fan's are Epicans . In that note , I highly recommend next : EPICA - The SKELETON KEY - (ΩMEGA ALIVE) (OFFICIAL VIDEO)th-cam.com/video/zIZkvhiOUU8/w-d-xo.html OR EPICA - Consign To Oblivion - Live at the Zenith (OFFICIAL VIDEO) th-cam.com/video/dkqyyUTCMUQ/w-d-xo.html NWSU/Epican 🤘❤🔥🤘.
This is not there first rodeo they are friends and they have both performed for Ajen in the Ayreon projects. Simone is a sweet singer and Epica i find a bit Heavier the Nightwish but both are great skilled bands.
You should try Kingdom of Heaven 3 omega alive 🤘😉 PS here a view more angel voices from the Netherlands Sharen den Adel (Within Temptation ) Anneke van Giersbergen ( the Gathering ) Charlotte Wessels ( Delain )
Simone was pregnant during this concert. That had 23 songs. She must have stamina! I don't think it is the Dutch water. It is just a good system of schools for singing, also modern music. Unfortunately both Simone and Floor left the country to live in Germany and Sweden respectively. But, they always have been very good friends, also private in their younger years.
You are definitely ready for another rabbit hole named Ayreon. Here is a link to a song which is the best introduction to jump into the several universes and projects Arjen Lucassen has created. There are many surprises you will like: th-cam.com/video/oFuMKdrzPqU/w-d-xo.html
My country has a lot great female (metal) singers. Another amazing female singer 'fairytale' metal band is Blackbriar. One song is: th-cam.com/video/dcNCIewWhBs/w-d-xo.html
I've listened to this Duet about 50 times and... It's still beautiful & powerful.

One of the best duet ever !! Floor and Simone are from another planet ❤🤟🤟🤟

Thats an epic performance 🥰🥰
Simone Simmons and Floor Jansen both singers appear in several Ayreon performances.
Ayreon performances are great and with a lot of wonderful artists. I am an Ayreon fan too
Can't wait to jump together to Beyond The Matrix!!!
I've been following Epica since their first album, love them. Simone doesnt growl, but the guitarist, Mark, does death-style vocals on a lot of their songs. yes Kingdom of Heaven Part 3 especially the version from Omega Alive
The Essence of silence it's a great song... Mark's very deep death growls take the best part of the song..
I second Scott. Chasing the Dragon from the retrospect show really shows off Simone. It gives me hardcore goosies.
Also listen to them sing Mater Stabat Delolroso
Fkin rights ... Rivers - Epica , if your in a chill out mood. Glad you loved the goddesses. They were college roommates. 😉 And the best of friends. Both are on the same level!
That crystal clear voice of Simone is simply incredible though!
Jaap friend! It's nice to see you here! You are right Simone have one of the most beautiful crystal clear voice I've ever heard! Floor, Simone and Fabienne have to do a collab in future!

Each drummer of every Symphonic Metal band, so it seems, is a drummer of the highest standard...unbelievable stuff indeed
Late to the party for your channel, but it takes so long to find and watch Epica, NW vids, so many to watch and find.
Sky, you crack me up !!
I love your reactions, well thought out and sincere, you come across as 'soft, 'elegant' and 'demure', and then, out of nowhere, the most 'marshmallow' of 'F' bombs drop on us and envelop us in the sweetest coating.

I want to suggest you another great song by Epica:
-The obsessive devotion

You will love this band
🤘🤘🤘
epica with simone is symphonic progrressive metal.band. the netherlands the country with so many opera symphonic metal female singer

Floor and Simone are BFFs and used to be roommates. Listen to them doing stabat mater dolerosa. It'll blow you away!

Hi Sky, the girls who spot the good drummer are the right ones!
How to make Epica even more epic? Easy...Add a sprinkle of Floor!! Inc-fucking-credible!🤘 😎🤘
epica rivers ,and freedom the wolves within are good songs , but they have numerous good songs i see there is also a bunch of other good suggestions here enjoy 😁
You might need to add Zora Cock of Blackbriar for the Dutch Fab 5
Hi Sky, great reaction, yea Epica is an amazing band, you can explore it a song at the beginning of the band like 'cry for the moon' and later continue with 'stabat mather dolorosa' and 'unchain utopia'
Epica and sabaton are touring in the states this year
Hi there great reaction
If you'd like to listen to more dutch metal queens I'd suggest
Sharon den Adel - Within Temptation
Charlotte Wessels - Delain
Dianne van Giersbergen - Xandria
Greetings from Sweden
Hi Sky this is a good one, live from the Zenith in Paris
EPICA - Beyond The Matrix - Live at the Zenith (OFFICIAL VIDEO)
here is the link th-cam.com/video/ix_PpfputKY/w-d-xo.html
FYI they are BFF's and were flat mates at one time. Imagine living next door and hear them sing all the time.
' Mother Doloresa' from the same concert is waiting for you.
The Monkey on the bed so good, Floor is the best singer ever.
Puscifer - “The Undertaker” (Live from “What Is…” album OR Live @ Lollapalooza 2013)
You would adore Simone Simons singing from The Little Mermaid. She and Floor both do Disney songs lol. I think they both want to be cast as voices of Disney princesses.
😍
Check out Rivers by Epica
friends singing
Consign to Oblivion live at Zenith Paris please :)
Check out.
thanks
Next try react " Skyscraper " cover by Chakra khan from indonesia
holy land
SO..... Epica...
First: Simone Simons + Floor Jansen = POWER COMBO
Epica is Epic (well deserved name for the band).
In that note , I highly recommend next : EPICA - The SKELETON KEY - (ΩMEGA ALIVE) (OFFICIAL VIDEO)th-cam.com/video/zIZkvhiOUU8/w-d-xo.html OR
EPICA - Consign To Oblivion - Live at the Zenith (OFFICIAL VIDEO) th-cam.com/video/dkqyyUTCMUQ/w-d-xo.html
NWSU/Epican 🤘❤🔥🤘.
Please react IDGITAF - LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN (BRUNO MARS COVER) ROOMATE PROJECT LIVE SESSION from Indonesia :)
also Simone was Pregnant during this show.
This is not there first rodeo they are friends and they have both performed for Ajen in the Ayreon projects. Simone is a sweet singer and Epica i find a bit Heavier the Nightwish but both are great skilled bands.
🤗🍒👍🏻😘
You should try Kingdom of Heaven 3 omega alive 🤘😉 PS here a view more angel voices from the Netherlands Sharen den Adel (Within Temptation ) Anneke van Giersbergen ( the Gathering ) Charlotte Wessels ( Delain )
Does it get better? Oh yes! Epica Stabat Mater Dolorosa feat Floor Jansen LIVE th-cam.com/video/QqdvFPBGN0c/w-d-xo.html
какие глаза....
Sancta Terra means Sacred Earth.
React to HIM- Wicked game 😉👌🏼
