Good question. I was curious to see if the $12 cover would work. This is a work saw for forestry thinning and Wildland Fire. So I’m not sure if I’ll spend the money to get NOS OEM. I still need to do a rebuild on my hybrid 044.
@@Earth_Care_Cowboy Don't expect crazy percentages of glass fiber even in OEM lol, its around 5% from what I understand. Just enough to help with cracking and crack propagation while keeping the weight down.
Could you not buy QEM parts instead?

@ ahh I see!! I’m just curious because I have an old MS 382 that needs a new crankcase! Hopefully stihl sells spares! Anyways loved the vid. 👍
@ eBay will have the case. Definitely rebuild what you have.
As long as its fiberglass reinforced nylon, it should be as good as the oem.
