I don’t know if it’s the era, the comedians or the theme in general, but I feel like the older roasts while typical “insult comedy” were humorous jabs at the guest maybe at each other, I feel like the roasts in the last 10-15 years have had the most vulgar comedians making the rudest and cruelest jokes at everyone’s expense, hell I saw one comedian who made multiple comments about each other roaster, plus people not even in attendance, and just a little 3 word “poof” about the guest themself…it’s less “let’s have a fun time” and more “who can I insult next”

Ah, I knew the "in my day no one was offended" b.s. comment was in here somewhere. But I guess, people say this stuff thinking likes on TH-cam will eventually turn into...something. Meanwhile, pretty much every popular comedian are still saying "offensive" things, making money, not cancelled, etc. In fact, some of them are deliberately trolling to get people "offended" so they can get their Netflix streaming numbers up and pander to people who think society is soft. For those who didn't realize it, Robin's last part was a race joke. A man named Earl Butz who was a member of Gerald Ford's cabinet was overheard making the statement: "I'll tell you what the coloreds want. It's three things: first, a tight pu$@y; second, loose shoes; and third, a warm place to sh!t.” This obviously caused a scandal even in the mid-1970s.

Both groups are made of the same kind of people authoritarian ideological zealot busybodies that think they are doing what's best for others (and we all know what CS Lewis said about that "Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.). And griffters/ opportunists that are using it gain power and money.

He is definitely one of the nicest people I have ever met. I saw him in Philadelphia at the Tower theater and had a vip backstage pass. He signed an Aladdin unopened anniversary DVD along with a Jumanji and Popeye DVD. He was friendly, didn’t mind signing a few things, made small talk, and took pictures with everyone there. I have never laughed that hard as when seeing him do his standup. I think it was 2009. I had started teaching the year before. I was really sad to see him pass away. I hope wherever he is that he is happy.
