I don’t know if it’s the era, the comedians or the theme in general, but I feel like the older roasts while typical “insult comedy” were humorous jabs at the guest maybe at each other, I feel like the roasts in the last 10-15 years have had the most vulgar comedians making the rudest and cruelest jokes at everyone’s expense, hell I saw one comedian who made multiple comments about each other roaster, plus people not even in attendance, and just a little 3 word “poof” about the guest themself…it’s less “let’s have a fun time” and more “who can I insult next”

He is definitely one of the nicest people I have ever met. I saw him in Philadelphia at the Tower theater and had a vip backstage pass. He signed an Aladdin unopened anniversary DVD along with a Jumanji and Popeye DVD. He was friendly, didn’t mind signing a few things, made small talk, and took pictures with everyone there. I have never laughed that hard as when seeing him do his standup. I think it was 2009. I had started teaching the year before. I was really sad to see him pass away. I hope wherever he is that he is happy.
Robin got away with so much because he somehow managed to never ever have a mean bone in his body. He roasted everyone equally. One of the greatest comedians ever.
