NFS Carbon: Canyon Duel (1080p60fps)

- I had a nostalgia trip and booted up Need for Speed: Carbon. This is the canyon duel against Wolf on Deadfall Junction. Even after so many years I still remember the general line and braking points :D. A Canyon Duel is split into 2 stages:
-The 1st stage starts with you chasing your opponent down the canyon. You follow your opponent down the canyon to earn points, and you earn points faster the closer you follow.
-The 2nd stage follows the same principle but instead your leading, and the opponent chases you. As you are chased, the points you earned are lost. To win, you have to reach to the end of the canyon, before you lose all your points. If you lose all your points before you finish the run, you lose.
EA really missed an opportunity by not including this game mode or a form of it in the new NFS. It really should return in future games.

I remember playing one hour doing only canyon races since I always make sure to do all the boss races in one session of game. Goddamn my head and my eyes used to hurt really bad once I was done with all of them

Its not the engine it is the straight cut gears that make it sound like that, very satisfying.

Yaas i miss canyon duels, it brings a serious atmosphere to this game. The first canyon duel is memorable.

If you fall off the canyon, you lose. If you are too far behind your opponent for 10 seconds, that's also a loss. However, if at any point you get too far AHEAD your opponent, you win, even on the first round.
Ethan Edwards You win when you overtake the opponent and stayed ahead for 10 seconds.

There's also the fact that you lose 5000pts if you collide with your opponent on stage 1, but you GAIN 5000pts if your opponent collides woth you on stage 2. Don't use the latter to literally carry you through, however - you'll quickly lose the points you just gained after the collision.
I remember that you still win if you're way too ahead your opponent in the second run

Who would play any semi serious racing game with automatic? Doesn't feel satisfying and makes you slow in some cases
@@MONTR65 Well, serious racers play sim racing rather than arcadey nfs. 90% of the players I see who plays GT Sport uses manual transmission.

Well cant deny the fact he is a good shifter but those cornerings are doubtful because its an m3 gtr handles like a tuner itd be more impressive if he drives a muscle car

They have multiplayer mode which it was shut down last May 2021. EA are total idiots.

The return of this car at the end of Heat wasnt what NFS fans needed, but its what we deserved, and was a welcome surprise.

I still remember beating the final canyon race by pushing Wolf off the canyon. I couldn't believe it. I screamed and called everyone at home and friends. Would've taken a picture if we had phones back then. Still reminisce the gaming days.
wolf is prone to crashing if you stick close for most of the run, same for kenji.

I genuinely don't understand why the races never made a return. Especially in multiplayer, this would be amazing. Of course there will be the usual online pvp bs, but i find it hard to believe that this wouldn't be a hit in modern NFS.

when I played on my notebook, I played 30FPS, at 60FPS the game seems slightly faster😧

Man every time you get close to passing the opponent in canyon there's always a corner and you have slow down and the opponents speeds away smart game designing if you ask me I miss the old ea
The best way to beat Darius in the canyon is to overtake him using a muscle car I did it with the Vette it's hard for the over races to handle the dam thing though 😂 but in the dual you can overtake him at the beginning and at the straight bit really easily
