I wish more people who need space and a SUV style realized what a great car this is. I had a 2020 Ascent with bench 2nd row and now I have a 2022 Ascent with captains chars 2nd row... love it, only reason I upgraded to the 2022 is that Subaru actually reached out and wanted my used car and offered a lower payment for the newer with more bells and whistles. It's been a great vehicle and we beat the heck out of it: towing, hauling stock tank water, picking up hay, daily dirt roads, cross country trips, two 100 pound dogs, two kids. Already have my eye on the Ascent Onyx Limited...
Since you’ve had the bench and now the captains chair version- what are the pros and cons of each have you found? I just got one with captains chairs but wanted a bench second row and am trying to learn how to love it. 😅😇
We just purchased our 2020 Subaru Ascent Touring, on Saturday the 13th. We are enjoying the heck out of it!!! We came from a 2018 Nissan Rogue that got totaled. The first thing I said when I got in it, was that it felt comfortable and familiar. I'm a 5ft nothing woman, and my hubby is 6'1, we both fit perfectly in ours! This has been the best purchase we have ever made! I'm so happy with it. Very responsive too which is wonderful!
The only complaint I have with my 2024 Ascent Touring is the brake noise. The dealership told me Subaru was doing out with a revised brake pad but don’t know when and it is not a recall at this time. Subaru needs to step up and replace them for customers after we spent over $55,000.00 for this vehicle. I had a Forester before this and loved it as well. Went to the Ascent for more room while traveling.
I have a 2019 Subaru ascent and there is an extended warranty on the brakes. My Ascent is currently at Subaru getting new brakes for free. Ask them about the warranty.
Purchased My 2024 Subaru Ascent 10 April and love it. You have helped me learn some of the "secrets" and I've become more familiar and confident with my girl. Thanks for you smooth delivery and for not waisting my time, but getting to the information and making it clear. Your the best.
Flat floor makes it easy to sleep with and carry long items. I hope the Ascent will become more popular when the hybrid comes in. The vehicle is great. As a Forester owner, I do not mind the similarities. It brings the price down. It is not offered where I live, but I saw it once. It was the version before the face lift and I liked the looks more than my Forester 🤣
I like the addition to safety as the bar helps to protect vehicle more protected in case of crash. The built in intercom to the third row seating area.
I had to take my Forester Touring in for some warranty work. Subaru of Spokane (wa) gave us a 24 Outback Wilderness as a loaner car. We had to make an emergency trip to Montana (a 12 hour drive from our house). The speed limit in Montana is 80, so I set my cruise on 87. I got behind a Long string of cars in the Fast lane going 75mph. I asked my wife if the slow lane was empty. It was for quite a ways, so I got into the slow lane and stood on the gas pedal. In the blink of an eye, we hit 100mph. 4 Red lights on the heads up display began to flash rapidly. At 110mph, all of those annoying bells in Subaru’s started ringing. Did I care, NO ! Just as I was about to hit 115mph, I was passed all of the slow pokes in the fast lane and had to get in front of them because there was a semi truck in the slow lane that we were fast approaching. As soon as I got into the Fast Lane I took my foot off the gas. Lo and behold, all of those idiots who were driving Under the speed limit in the Fast Lane decided to move to the Slow Lane. Sheeple are so stupid sometimes. I did realize that if you hit 100mph and you slow down, the Subie disengages the cruise control, so I had to reset it on 87mph. In WA the speed limit is 70 on I-90, so I had my cruise set on 75. The best tank of gas , I only got 26mpg and the worst was 20. Both , my wife’s Outback and my Forester get 24 around town and 29 on the highway. If I would have known that my Forester wouldn’t get better fuel economy, I would have kept my 11 RAV 4WD Limited with the 268hp, 3.5 V6. It got 21mpg city and 28mpg highway. I LOVED all of those 268 naturally aspirated horsepower. No turbo needed. Just pure power. Looking back I should have kept my Toyota. It was a MUCH better vehicle than my Subaru. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy my Forester, but I LOVED my RAV. As soon as I can, I’ll sell my Forester and go back to Toyota. My wife Loves her Outback and has already told me that when her Outback wears out, that she wants another Outback and that is fine. I’ve had more problems with my Forester in 13 months than I did with my Toyota for 13 years. I never had ANY complaints, issues or problems with my Toyota, Ever. I’ve had 8 different problems with my Forester so far.
Nice video on the ASCENT. Question: Saw you put in the cargo cover. It appeared to cover the cargo area as well as the area with the 3rd row seat folded down. Is there a second "setting" for the cargo cover to only cover the cargo area with 3rd row seat in UP position ?
Thanks for all your videos. Good job. Is there a was to fix the settings in the star link app to where when you start or can the horn doesn’t blow my next door neighbor doesn’t like it at 4am
Some of the features mentioned (360 view camera, cabin connect, panoramic sunroof) are only available on the Touring or Limited with the Tech Package. I have a 2023 Limited with tech package and love the 360 view camera, especially when you turn it on when in drive and you can have a front view or see how close you are to vehicles and other objects when parking. I also like the panoramic sunroof (although I suspect ill have it closed alot during hot Texas summer days). I also like the adjustable extension on the driver seat cushion. I also found that I was able to get a much better deal and value for money compared to other competitors.
We have a 2020 Ascent limited. My husbands wheelchair fits perfectly in the back without lying down any seats. It stands up in the space after taking the cover off.
I bought my 2023 Ascent Touring in November and I just realized yesterday that I do not have the hands-free liftgate feature where you wave your hand in front of the emblem and it beeps and then opens. My 2020 Outback Limited had it and you would think an Ascent touring would have everything that an Outback limited had and more. Does anyone know why the 2023 Ascent Touring does not have the hands-free liftgate feature.
Our 2022 Ascent Onyx did not have a hitch when we purchased it… much to our chagrin. It cost $1000 to have it and the wiring installed at a closer dealership. Expensive lesson. The invoice says it has a 5000 lb towing capacity, but not without additional and not included accessories!
The hitch receiver as an option is standard for almost all vehicles for sale in the US, even a lot of trucks. They tell you the towing capacity but you have to have a hitch installed to utilize that capacity - also people have different hitch needs: 2", 2.5" or 3" and so on. Bummer if you said you wanted to tow and your salesman didnt point out to you that you hadn't ordered a hitch and install.
I am very happy with my 21 Ascent Touring…The 4 cylinder engine with CVT has surprised me with its performance and the side benefit of handling (low CG) and mileage.
I bought a certified used 2021 Ascent because it's one of the safest mid-size SUVs out there and handles well in snow. The only thing I don't love is that the 2nd row doesn't lay down flat - there's an incline. It was also advertised with the tow hitch but when I took delivery, it didn't have one and I was quoted an additional $1k to get it installed. 🙄
@@rtinmotion Most of the videos I've seen online show that the 7-seat Ascent with the second row captain seats don't lay all the way flat. The 8-seater does, though.
I have the 2022 Subaru ascent, and I love it very much but I’m waiting for them to change the backend of the car a little bit. It’s a little bit too squared off for me. I’d like a longer back with the window is in the back and a little more sleeker like the big Volkswagen has
I have the 2023 Subaru Ascent, 7 passenger, Touring, with tow package. My favorite feature is the rear view camera. Bird’s eye view is okay, but the other is the best thing since sliced bread 😊
I love my 2019 Ascent and most of its features, but there are a few things that really drive me nuts. First, the radio always turns on when the car starts. Picture this: you've just managed to carefully place your sleeping infant in the car without waking them up, but the day before you were listening to loud music on your commute home. So, when you start the engine, the sudden blast of sound jolts your baby awake-there goes your peaceful morning. Second, there’s no way to keep the cabin lights from coming on automatically. Sure, duct tape over the sensors works as a makeshift solution, but other cars have the option to disable the lights completely. It feels like the designers never had to deal with sleeping kids.
I dont want the rear doors cabin lights on when i open the rear doors, how do i turn that feature off, its a 2024 Ascent. How do i stop the seatbelt alert when im in PARK and my seat belt is unbuckled.? Thanks
Hi Alex, Love your reviews. I watch all of them. Like and subscribe yes. Just purchased An Ascent premium with convenient option and waiting for shipment . I am an ocean surfer and put my key in the door lock box when in the water. My question is...Will the proximity key fob transmit thru the lock box so that anyone could walk up to my car and touch the sensor on door handle and open car? ( Appreciate your answer since my dealer is unable to answer many of my questions.) Thank you. Joseph
I will get a faraday cage pouch to put it in that blocks the signal while it's in the lock box so they couldn't do that. But I would sure test it as well.
I prefer the sorento or the mini telluride the 2.5 turbo produce more hp(281more torque (311) hits 60 in 5.7 which makes one of the fastest 3 rows on the market in par with MDX. The dimensions are the size of a MURANO, but with the passenger volume near travrse( 154.2 vs157.1) it more spacious than the ssent with a smaller and more agile body. And I did I mention the warranty? Sorento wins as the best 3 row IMO
I have a toyota highlander 2019 with 133.000 mileage and I am driving it for uber, I bought this car 2021, and my car is still perfect driving, my question is if buy acsent for uber is it good idea?
Hello Buddy - I have a 2022 subaru ascent limited, and the dome light is on on the third row and for the life of me I cant figure out how to turn it off :( ... Of course if I leave it on it'll drain my battery off... not sure what to do here... :) Help!!!
If you don’t see a switch directly on the light, you can try the bottom up near the driver’s seat. It’ll be near the far left side of the dash by the power rear gate button.
should do a video about the stupid and useless things on a subaru ascent or subaru in general. Remote start with subscription or buy the 400 dollars keyfob with the remote start already built in. how it's feel sluggish and is under power to a regular highlander, how cramp the second row and ant size 3rd row is, how the 3rd row only come up not even 90 degree so you have to pull on the long tab then the short stab to adjust the seat, how loud the CVT is, how annoying the seat belt chime is if you have heavy stuff on the back seat. How much rattling it has in the cabin, how maintenance heavy it is.
Only if subaru Australia sold this car here to complete against the other similar car, only thing it would have a different name as Toyota owns that name for its corolla price level
I'd love to buy an Ascent, however; in 2023 they did not have an adjustable lumbar support nor front and rear parking sensors. It is a nice looking car though.
also 3rd row to click in seat belts are a joke for car seats.. carplay disconnects every 10min, cvt screams for help when towing or with 7 passengers even worst when goin up hills.. interior cheap plastic scratches so easy, 360 cameras definition is ebay bad😂, a/c airflow full blast is LOUD & no keyfob remote start 😒 only app subscription..
I currently drive a 2023 ascent premium and i dont like it. I dont like the space inside. I find most of its features useless. The car is very light so be careful if you traveling on the freeway. The wind from a truck passing you can blow you off the road. Never trust the eyesight feature on this car. And what is with all the cup holders because honestly you cant fit a cup in most of them. The freaking big screen is to bright and it bothers my eyes when im driving at night. Of course you can dim it but then you cant see anything on it. And when you open a doors and all the light inside lit up. Its annoying. Also the lagging is very bad. Screen sometimes doesnt respond until about 20-30 seconds later. 😂😂 A few times i would park, get out of the car with the key but it wouldnt let me lock it. Id have to turn the car on and off again for it to realize that its park and the driver is not in the car. 😂😂😂 the car will display a message when you park remind you to check the back seat. As if you are stupid that you dont remember you had someone with you.
@flyfishing739 No thanks for your information. You don't know anymore than you want to share and be a negative. Won't say what you drive. You don't want anyone to show interest in something you don't like. You don't like Alex talking about a product he sells and happens to enjoy. All these recalls on millions of brands, and you get on here for nothing.
Which is your favorite hidden Ascent feature? 😀
Not hidden but the camera improvement is great and the second row captain chairs and comforts in the second row, wonderful. Coming from a 2012 Outback

I just picked up my new 2024 Ascent Limited Onyx up this week. I love it. Thanks for all of the Subaru videos. They really solidified my decision.
Just bought an ascent last night. You are correct, it's just like a small car. It's not like an SUV or truck at all.
My favorite feature on the Ascent is the mirror turn-in button that allows you to turn your mirrors in for carwash.

Id have to turn the car on and off again for it to realize that its park and the driver is not in the car. 😂😂😂 the car will display a message when you park remind you to check the back seat. As if you are stupid that you dont remember you had someone with you.
I have a 2022 ascent and I love it

How are they junk?
What do you drive?
Boxer engines are known for blowing up

@flyfishing739 No thanks for your information. You don't know anymore than you want to share and be a negative. Won't say what you drive. You don't want anyone to show interest in something you don't like. You don't like Alex talking about a product he sells and happens to enjoy. All these recalls on millions of brands, and you get on here for nothing.
