I'm just now realizing that it's been exactly 10 years since I first came into contact with this song. We started this in hs Chamber choir, Aug 2014. It's never truly left my brain since.
Learned this my junior year in college, the same year as I lost my mom to cancer. God! This song helped me get through the funeral. "For love is strong as death."
Love is STRONGER than death. Jesus proved that on the Cross, and through His resurrection. :) God bless you, and the soul of your dearly departed mother.
What a privilege to have sung under Dr. Hightower at Luther! He is a musician genius and these young people will never forget the experience of being his student in his choir!
It is tempting to say that such musical beauty is nothing short of miraculous, but of course it is the result of inspired writing, great directing, and transformed singers.
Singing this absolute gem of a piece in the late 90s gave me hope that the long, cold night of senseless dissonance passing as modernity was finally over, and it was at last safe again to embrace new classical music.
We sang this song in high school Under Ms. Quinney in Charleston, SC. I’m now 32 years old and got the desire to hear this song from almost 2 decades ago.. brought tears to my eyes. Music is so undeniable! Shout out to all of the passionate Music Directors out there💚 y’all are so essential

Sang this in an octet in senior year of high school. We never quite mastered it, but this song still has a special place in my heart.
Whew. I have to remind myself to breathe while listening to this. Angelic. Beautiful. Amazing. 👏👏

Me too. While i sing this to myself weekly, this is first time hearing it in 18 years.
Clausen wrote this in about 20 minutes when he and his wife lost an unborn fetus.

This song has literally helped me get through the deaths of those closest to me. " Love is strong as death,'"....

CCU Choir 2002. One of the few great decisions in my life was joining Choir in college. This song... This will stay with me forever.
Manny water cannot quench love😥😌
Stunning performance.
As always, he is an EXPERT at commandeering big voices into a heavenly blend. This is a school that produces a lot of opera singers.
I’m crying thank you so much I’m deeply touched
Admiriring the age range of your singers. They do so well. My group ranges in age from 56 to 93. We love to sing and to visit together as well..
So beautiful

Love this piece. I remember singing it my sophomore year of high school. I also have a conducting test on this piece Monday.

Simply beautiful.........Rene Clausen honors the power of Love.
Lovely to hear this sung so fully. I appreciate choirs that whisper it, but I prefer to hear all the wonderful harmonies against one another.
breathtakingly beautiful..... never get tired of hearing it sung this beautifully.
Beautiful performance of an incredible piece of music.
Such a beautiful rendition of this piece and it so lovely to Dr. Hightower conduct.
