Whether or not you like how the death played out... I think most can agree that facial performance on Cloud with her in his arms is pretty flawlessly translated into the modern age
Damn Hojo Jojo. More sins to Vincent, I guess. Edit: that mfer is a lucky bstrd given he could have also been killed by Genesis, hadn't it been for Zack and Angeal that protected him.
My head hurts with what just happened. Aerith is dead and nothing changed right? It’s all still the same as the original story? Are these just cloud’s hallucinations and PTSD? All this glitching in and out of reality is really fucking with me…😵💫
This seems to be their primary goal now, just making things extra confusing so people keep talking for many years to buy the next one. Story suffers for it.
I Truly appreciate that they kept Aerith's theme during the Jenova Fight. It's such a sad song, but hearing it in battle makes you want to fight 30 Times harder.
They stayed true to original i can admire that, and even though it’s still sad Septhiroth still gets to kill her because of his reality wrapping, and timeline hopping in the fly fuck that’s op i guess it’s going to make the final one winged fight way harder, and intense, i just wonder how they will orotray him decending, or showing up in the purple cloud dimension you fight him in.
If he's actually seeing visions of her, that'd actually add a nice touch to the moment Cloud has a breakdown and believes to be just another copy of Sephiroth and delivers the black materia to him.
Remake Cloud has it rough. His mind was already teetering on the edge of breaking from the trauma of the Sephiroth-clone experiments, but now there’s also like a future version of Sephiroth running around tormenting him and alternate realities keep crashing into his. So Remake Cloud doesn’t know what’s real and reality itself also doesn’t know what’s real.
Also it’s sets up the life stream moment with Tifa which is going to be even more beautiful that original and that she’s also going to have to help him come to terms with the lose of a friend
@@garethhayles6885well i hope that Tifa gets more Focus in this scene. Its her big Moment not aeriths. I hope the devs acknowledge this... Poor Tifa 😅

This game was absolutely amazing man, the fact that your party starts the boss fight with limit break because of how upset everyone is about Aerith's death, except for Cloud because he deluded himself to thinking he saved her, that's actually so heartbreaking
Oh my god I didn’t even realize that. I thought it was a little strange that Cloud’s limit wasn’t filled but everyone else’s was. But you’re absolutely right, it’s because he believes he saved when in reality she died.
@@iam4026well yes and no He did INFACT save her just in a different timeline. You can tell there another divergence in the timeline with the rainbow light
I like that cloud reverted back to crisis core cloud as soon as he reunited with Zack 😂 imagine if Zack survived canonically, cloud would never have become so bitter
Cloud suffered a lot from the Mako experiments Hojo did on him and Zack, and Zack's death broke his heart and mental state for sure. Which is why he was as he was, until near the climax of the original where he fell into the Mako with Tifa, and the two worked together to restore his memories.
If Zack were to survive, he would of went to Midgar and joined Avalanche. Remember when Zack brings the unconscious Cloud to the truck. During that truck ride, Zack made dreams together to do mercenary jobs with Cloud. Joining Avalanche does fit the definition of a mercenary jobs. Mercenary is a soldier who is paid to fight by a country or group that they do not belong to. Synonyms: hireling, freelance [history], soldier of fortune, condottiere [history] More Synonyms of mercenary. So when you started that FFVII original game, it shows Cloud joining Avalanche without Zack. So if Zack survived, he would of went with Cloud to join Barrett's group in Avalanche. That meant if Zack left sooner just like Zangan, he would not be caught by Shinra soldiers. I mean Zangan had to leave Nibelheim and he dragged that unconscious Tifa and went to Midgar. Zangan and Tifa was considered Group 1. Zack and Cloud was considered group 2 of leaving Nebelheim. Zack also had to drag the unconscious body out of Nibelheim too. Zack stopped by at Gongaga on his way to Midgar which meant he got caught by Shinra soldiers. If Zack survived, Barrett would of had 2 more members added in his Avalanche group.
So basically it seems like they're leaning into Cloud's mako psychosis big time this time around. He's in complete denial, and I feel like the bit at the nortthern crater is going to be much worse when he can no longer deny that she really died and he isn't what he thinks he is.
Yeah, they also just showed what seem to be the Weapons and it'd be time for Cid and Vincent to be playable for the big materia related missions while Tifa tries to put Cloud's mind back together.
well , its clear. you don't who zack is" this statement from aerith after cloud said zack is loser soldier. because aerith know zack, cloud just love aerith from what he think. zack is different persona. a hero, cloud is denial.
I love how the first phase of Jenova Lifeclinger has Aerith's theme like the OG. Then it transitions to a very badass remix of J-E-N-O-V-A with the final phase even having a guitar.
Looks to me like cloud believes he managed to save her, he doesnt know shes not there which is why the writing team clearly sent her "home" so the next game she would be absent. Clouds perception of the world is completely different to everybody elses already and he makes stuff up as a coping mechanism
Or perhaps what happened with Biggs happened to her. She died on front timeline and woke up in zack's timeline, and this image of her is just a spiritual reflection of that and now she will return to the zack-line. And helps things besides Zack.
I don't think it's that case I think Cloud just had much more confident and understand why Aerith need to die maybe right now Cloud link to lifestream or Aerith or something so he can talk to her in the end The scene he talk with Aerith is he already knew Aerith is dead and reason of that to stop meteor and he will stop Sephiroth I think the let down is they didn't come up with new plot but decide to stay the same and next game will be disc2+disc3 be ready for a lot of cut contents
@@solitaregames I don't think Zack has a timeline. I think he's dead but just doesn't know it yet. He's navigating the lifestream. It's why when Cloud gets pulled into the stream during the final fight, he meets both Zack and Aerith again.

So let me get this straight: Cloud saved Aerith. Arbiters reset so Aerith died like in the original. Jenova fight as usual. Cloud fights Sephiroth. Aerith's Lifestream ghost helps. Cloud thinks Aerith isn't dead and sees her and the sky hole when the others don't. Nanaki feels her presence, hinting that Cloud is seeing her ghost from the Lifestream. Am I in the ballpark?
Apparently, Cloud saved her in his mind, and watching her alive is just a way for him to cope with Aerith's death. (You can see Cloud holding Aerith and being sad.) So, all that talk about changing their fate or rewriting their destiny has gone down the drain, which means the arbiters are pointless too. I think Cloud just cant accept that Aerith died. Thats why he skipped the burieng part in his head . He literally thinks he saved her lol . He says wake up to her . He lost his mind
I rather felt that the third and last game would be called a reunion, maybe everything will come together, Zack's timeline, Cloud's timeline, and the one Sephiroth wants.
Jack alive. Aerith die at this timeline. Next maybe aerith alive. Jack dead. Because Jack is dead how he can sit at cruch this timeline? And cloud stop sephiroth but why aerith still die? Yes Jack alive. Aerith dead this time
Actually the White Materia is empty maybe Cloud is actually seeing Aerith maybe the timeline broke and Aerith is both dead and alive at the same time. Cloud could be in a Paradox State where both are true.

@@dinglepuss8594I mean, he's the main antagonist, who else could be Cloud fighting against? Jenova is just a puppet of Sephiroth's. It only makes sense to seal this segment of the game fighting against Bizarro Sephiroth.
I just wish they seperate the scenes or make it like a last minute realization instead of mixing two scenes, mixing the illusion makes people confuse. And the water burial is iconic to be skipped
Considering they just used it for Crisis Core Reunion I doubt it, which is a shame cuz many fans agreed before that title was used it would've been perfect.
Yeah, the bit where Cloud said, "aerith will no longer talk, no long laugh, cry.... or get angry. "It really hit me in original. That whole speech after her death really made it so special, a shame they removed it.
Oftentimes, simpler is better. The reason Aerith's death in the OG was so impactful was because it was so cold and straight forward. Trying to make a death look so complicated takes away the emotional impact. I mean, there's still some impact, but they tried too hard to make it somehow "different" when it would've had far more emotional impact taking the scene just as it is and just letting the realism of modern technology and advancements do its work.
It's not that complicated, really. It's just showing Cloud trying to cope with it, which for me is a good call back to the way he acted in Advent Children and they have set this trend in which Sephiroth has to be the final boss in each segment of the remake and that's why they included the Bizzaro battle at the end.
This story would be significantly better if they didn’t use the exact same screen glitch effect for both Cloud’s mako-poisoning psychosis and the alternate timeline/fate fuckery that’s going on. Because right now we’re at the point where we can’t trust the fact that we can’t trust that what we see is real. Maybe it’s Cloud hallucinating, maybe it’s really happening in another timeline, but it’s literally impossible to tell because both of them are indicated by the exact same thing.
@somechinesedude5466 why to go this messy complicated route when it could be more simple around, there is no need to reach to a certain audience, because with their current direction they are alluding to that.
Watch when she gives cloud the white materia... Flash of flowers, we're Advent children now, the 7th multiverse, and you all remember the ending to Advent Children right?

I think Aerith did died in the current timeline we r playing, but she’s somehow alive in another timeline/dimension which I think we can somehow revive her in the final trilogy. The scene where Cloud was supposed to put her body into the water, but it didn’t. So I don’t think it’s final. Cloud is not completely crazy for seeing Aerith & Red sensing her too. Perhaps he couldn’t let go of her death in current timeline, but she still exists in another dimension dat we’ve yet to know, I think.
If Aerith revives, it goes against the intent of the original. All come from the planète and all return to it. Death is tough but has to be accepted if we want to embrace life.
I really wonder what the point of ''real'' sephiroth inside a crystall in the northern crater manipulating stuff when we clearly have winged sephiroth from AC just doing whatever the hell he wants .. :/
@@thanashs well, just like you, I didn't understand what business had the crystal Sephiroth to do in the North Cave after seeing him torment Cloud for most of the game. Thanks to Crisis Core I realized that the crystal Sephiroth is the original one. The one we have encountered so far has actually been a series of clones thar are prone to deterioration and that build themselves up from the clones in robes that whisper "reunion" and that you might encounter now and there. They also help themselves out of the Jenova cells. But back to the point, Sephiroth can only ever summon Meteor with his og body and thus absorb the energy of the lifestream into it to manage to become a God. A similar thing happened to Genesis, a character that appears in Crisis Core and helped me understand Sephiroth's condition and why he is a one winged angel.

Don’t think it’s more sad than the OG personally. Feel it conflicted itself and convoluted itself from its core message and themes of loss and dealing with it. I was laughing the whole time watching Rebirth’s ending, vs crying. 😂
@@VetNoviceThe difference is that in the original Aerith dies and you are forced into a relatively short and anticlimactic boss fight before the game actually addresses the weight of her death. Whereas in Rebirth she dies and you are forced into an hour long final boss sequence with Aerith constantly popping up just to tease the possibility of her not being gone forever, and by that point the actual impact of her death is cheapened since we know she’ll return in some form during the finale.
Cloud basically believes in his head that Aerith is still alive. That’s what I got from all this. He might not be in a coma in the next game. Tifa is very likely gonna have to bring Cloud back to reality by telling him the truth of what really happened to Aerith Also Zack 2 is definitely real also since we see things in his perspective from his world throughout the game. Marlene tells him about saving Aerith and he tells Cloud about saving Aerith. This is obviously pointing towards Aerith 2 in the second reality who is 100% going to join the main crew in part 3 along with Zack 2 the Legend 👍.
Cloud knows Aerith is dead, he literally sees the OG timeline of Aerith's death, it's just this time he's knows Aerith's death doesn't mean she's actually gone, but she's part of the Lifestream, where she'll help in her part in stopping Sephiroth, by preventing the meteor from crashing.
I think you are missing the point: The ending sequence is constantly switching betwen a reality where Cloud did save and fail to save Aerith. Also, in the very end, Aerith did not vanish like a ghost would do. Cloud is not crazy, he is LITERALLY struck between timelines. Aerith is the cat, Sephiroth is the poison, cloud is the box. It seems that Sephiroth is shifting timelines freely to reach his goals. The team is stuck in OG timeline, while Cloud is both being manipulated by Jenova cells like in the OG timeline, AND living in the remake timeline.
@@josevitorcalfa2I want to believe your comment so bad. A part of me thinks cloud is just hallucinating but I really want to hold out hope that he did save aerith in the alt timeline

Where is it? Only ghost whisper like kingdom heart? So funny. It doesnt look like aerith really dying, wake up and aerith wake up, when the original cloud embrace her and put her on the water of lifestream then aerith is sinking.
From what i see here Cloud did save her (2:38). But sephiroth either used the power he gained from the whispers and changed the outcome back to the death scene (3:08) and Nullifying cloud's actions. (3:16) (4:09)(4:18)These backing up it possibly.(4:59)(5:19)(5:22) More stuff i noticed before the fight, including that her eyes closed. Or time is going to go fubar in the next game as see with aerith and her death scene.
49:34 Aerith: “How can you want this, Sephiroth?” Sephiroth: “Begone, your part is played.” Aerith: “How can you *want* an eternity of loneliness?” That’s a small but profound exchange. Leads me to further believe this is OG Aerith, who has spent years in the Lifestream with OG Sephiroth and presumably knows him at his core. I think this is her calling him out which is why he instantly deflects her question.
This game really shows that sometimes, less is more. For context I mean how many times Sephiroth shows up and how many times you fight him. In the original he’s barely ever seen. The guy was a mystery. In these games he just seems like that annoying Gary Oak kinda rival.
Exactly this. Theres a reason why powerful villain characters such as Sephiroth must be used conservatively in a narrative, and much less fought very commonly! It takes away the impact he has on the story.
One hundred percent, he's basically bowser at this point. They did a great job at watering down the main villain. They do a great job with environments and music but actually planning it out... they don't know what they're doing.

Never forget, Cloud is probably the most famous case of unreliable narrator in the history of gaming. You can't really trust his perception of anything and that's the point.
Weird how people in this comment seem to forget how remake and rebirth plays on the concept of alternate timelines, that other timelines exist now with fate being meddled with, where Zack exists in one despite dying in the main one, yet can't accept this same event happened at the moment of Aerith's death. Cloud isn't seeing her ghost or a delusion in his mind, he's seeing the alternate timeline where he saved her being created, as it runs parallel to the main timeline where she died. I know alternate timeline stories are confusing for some, but maybe try a little harder guys. 🤷♂
Also it's not like dying in this world is really "dying" with the lifestream and all of that. And Aerith has interacted with the world even before this game after her death, it's just more overt here. Either way, it works.
the side that wanted the traditional aerith death with enhanced graphics got shafted since they cut out some sequences, and the side that wanted aerith to live while being fed a false hope because of the multiple timeline thing is also shafted. neither side will be satisfied with this ending.

@@davidrajaruzicka5546 I know that. She’s obviously a ghost. Cloud’s mental state is hanging by a thread, and Red sensed her because he’s an animal and animals have a sixth sense.
@khfan4life365 The thing is that Red is naturally very connected to the planet, similar to Aerith and the ancients. For Cloud, he has both the JENOVA cells and was highly poisoned with Mako in Hojos experiments, and we know Mako is tied heavily to the lifestream because it comes from the lifestream. Cloud and Zack are NOT normal soldier experiments because of this. This, to me, could explain some of Cloud's abilities to interact with his environment in tandem to how he perceives the world.
@@davidrajaruzicka5546It's pretty ambiguous because future(?) Sephiroth is intentionally messing with fate so much that alternate timelines are bumping into the original story, and he knows very well how he can use that fact to mess with Cloud's mental state even more than he did like at 48:51
Anyone who thinks that even Part 3 won't end similarly convoluted - in order to spawn more spinoffs and FF7 multiverse - is naive at this point. Every end game is now just a setup to get people to consume the next product.
He shouldn't have appeared at all in the last game, he was pure fanservice for fanboys nothing more. And his lines are quite crappy. Kind of ruining him in every way, oh well he has a good voice actor and he looks cool as bizarro at least...
I was kinda hoping he would carry her body one last time while we then see her go down to the sea. That was a memorable scene in the original game. I'm not sure about this one
The original scene was kind of goofy, though. Cloud stands in waist high water, and Aerith somehow sinks to the bottom? I think they realized you couldn't really do that, so they kept it off screen.
It's perfectly obvious what's happening this time. Cloud has saved her in another timeline thus creating a new world where Aerith survives Sephiroth's attack. Somehow Cloud is glitching between both worlds one where he saved her and the one where we failed (Beagle timeline from Remake and Rebirth). The Aerith that comes afterwards is the ghost of our timelines Aerith. The fact that Cloud is the only one who can see the rift in the sky makes me think that the ending Aerith might be in another timeline and that's why Cloud is the only one who somehow can see the Rift of that timeline. Or because we have created the timeline where she survives we lost something and our world is being torn apart because of it. But it's perfectly obvious Aerith has survived in one timeline and not in another. How this will move things for part 3 though we have to wait and see. And I have a feeling the timeline split has started right where Cloud entered the portal before Aerith and was changed by Cloud when he hit masamune with his sword.
I think it's even simpler, this whole series is taking place during Cloud's time in the lifestream, and he's going to wake up at the very end, to continue on the original ff7's storyline.
i think the reason why aerith’s pressence is there despite of being dead is because she is part of the lifestream, maybe in the sequel there is still a possibility to play as her and other dead characters in the after life, ( yes possible we can play as zack or angeal ) and the final boss would probably be the black materia meteor which the lifestream or aerith had stopped.
I fully agree on it being the lifestream myself,Cloud has mako poisoning, and when in contact, it feels the physical essence of mako and the lifestream,so Aerith is there. (Also why he gets visions of the past/future and gets general freakouts with the mention of Zack) Also should be mentioned Red felt her presence when they were on the grassy terrain cause he is connected with it from her previously tapping him and calming him down. He was roped into what Aerith was familiar with and became knowledgeable of both the whispers and the future.

I think Aerith is wayyy more powerful than we think she is, basically a godess. She's been trying to "find" the real Cloud because that version of him is the key to saving everything. She knew the entire time. The first time we see Aerith is the black whispers trying to stop her from meeting Cloud, i think. I think she pushed Cloud out of that reality, to remove him from that one, to make him wake up in the main one, combining two Cloud’s (two timelines in one body). That gives him the power where he can see two timelines at once. Hence how he saved her in one. Still getting my brain round this whole thing hahaha

Sephiroth says worlds divide and merge. All worlds will merge with the reunion. I think Rebirth may be an epic setup for a real reunion for everyone in all worlds if you know what I mean.
When they show the frame with the Masamune embedded in the floor, you can see the classic "distortions" he experiences when he distorts reality, such as when Zack is mentioned, and you hear the famous three notes of the intro, the same ones you hear when a tear escapes in the Remake. In the third part of the game, they could show the same scene with Sephiroth actually pulling the bloodied sword from Aerith's body. In fact, upon closer observation, there are two angles and two different floors. One is just in Cloud's head where he deflected the attack, and another with the sword impaled THROUGH Aerith's body and blood starting to flow. Sephiroth smiles, pulls out the sword (from the body), and we see the classic scene of Aerith falling as the music starts. Even when the rest of the team approaches, you see the classic disturbances with a bloody scene and a clean one (in Cloud's head). Although it's intentionally done to confuse and mislead, we simply see what actually happened and what Cloud sees from the moment his psyche begins to deny Aerith's death, including her telling him "it's all right" and him laying her on her back. After defeating the boss, we see Tifa and the others looking at the deceased body lying on its side, while when Cloud approaches, he only sees her lying on her back, even opening her eyes and responding to him, obviously only in his head. I mean, even him rejecting Sephiroth's sword is all a product of his imagination. In the end, this guy literally saw Zack die before his eyes and removed it all from his memory. Obviously, what really happened, including him laying Aerith's body in the lake, will be revealed in the last part when Cloud, fallen into the lifestream, regains control of his memories and himself 😢
I feel like it a cop out. The better ending would have been she dies and that it. No ghost Aeries talking to Cloud. She gone. The OG handles it much better as when she gone she more like a mystical guiding presence. It also gonna confuse a lot of people. The characters really good but starting to think they should have made into a TV show than a game.
So much noise, so much things going on, so much information on the screen just to tell the obvious. It's like what Hollywood would do if they produced the game. I read it as Cloud totally blocking it out, so since we see the game from his perspective we don't see the burial either. He was also weirdly casual during that whole scene given what just happened, leading me to think it's Cloud being in denial/losing his grip on reality.
I am thinking they took the scene on purpose all for part 3. Rebirth is setting up Cloud's declining mental state, there is already several cutscenes of him just straight up forgetting something that just happened and the player getting snippets. What most people are leaning towards is that this Cloud believes he actually saved Aerith and is in massive denial.
Crazy to really be put in Cloud's perspective and see his mind actively reject trauma and fabricate a reality he can accept. To the point that we as the audience can't even be certain as to what is real, fake, or a manipulation.
I think they're trying to lean more into Cloud's craziness this time around. In this game, he really thinks he saved her, and thus why we keep seeing Aerith, and why we really don't have a true grieving scene. Hope this brought some light.
i mean, we are literally seeing it from Cloud's perspective tho, that's why we do not see Sephiroth impaling Aerith. they are saving that moment in Part 3 from Tifa's perspective
@@harukaroto8262 That scene might come later. You know, the old anime classic flashbacks they love so much? It'll come back to cloud when he snaps back to reality.
57:45 This scene reminds me of an old anime : Abenobashi. Almost every episode ended with the two main characters jumping across imaginary worlds in this stance. (Spoiler: the whole plot was also about denial)
Many people said when Cloud saved Aerith, he was just imagining it. But from the way I see it, Cloud actually did saved Aerith, however Sephiroth used the power of the Arbitrer of Fate to change the outcome which resulted in Aerith's death. So basically, Cloud initially did managed to saved Aerith, but Sephiroth reversed the outcome which is why Aerith still ends up death.
My question is, what happpens to the Aerith and Cloud that are unconscious in Zack's world. Zack was pondering (before he was sent to timeline cross road) about saving Aerith, Cloud and Biggs. Marelene said that it would be bad for Cloud to wake up (as he is) and Zack needs to save him. And if Aerith wakes up, she'll die So what happens to those versions of them?
Timeline twisting plots rarely impress me, unless they are done extremely well. I'm currently disappointed in the ending. Cloud didn't get to say his dialogue to Sephiroth and Aerith is brought back into the fight as a ghost or whatever, which makes it hard to feel sad at her death when they don't let her stay in "dead". The original Aerith death gets me every time and this doesn't. Right now all I'm thinking is to see if they somehow fix this in part 3 because right now I'm not really too impressed.
After the first game if they kept it the same I would prefer they never made this at all. It's because it's has to be different enough that makes me or anyone excited for it. Otherwise.
@@gameoveror7970 but by doing that they make him very unintimidating. A villain gets less intimidating the more he's defeated, not more. That's why they left sephiroth until the very end in OG, a far better written game. This crap is just fanservice.
Thought it was funny when Aeris said "ready to finish this", yet it was already clear the entire segment with fighting Sephiroth was totally pointless again like with Remake. Cloud and friends are teleported to another dimension to have a "final climactic" battle against Sephiroth, teleport back, and it is like that whole segment got copy/pasted in because it is so irrelevant to adjoining scenes.
@@Vaquix000 in the first game, why was there a sephiroth fight? He absorbed the whispers, so he could have gone away it. Why fighting? Apparently, he did not want to harm the party at that point. It made no sense. Now, he is fighting everyone, I mean literally everyone. Aerith was dead, and even she participated in the battle. Was this all necessary? Does it help the story narrative in anyway? He ending was like a dream where things randomly happen without any reasons. What's the point of creating a story that nobody understands, so the developers have to explain the story through interviews or press? This game is a pure garbage.
Music and Presentation are great, but trying to make the story bigger and more complex than the original is not going well. Back in the days Sephiroth has been an amazing villain but we have to admit JRPGs naturally evolved and now we see that he is actually pretty one dimensional.
Also his lines are pretty garbage this time around, plus he's being overused to the point of not feeling like a threat. There's no "can we beat this guy?" if we're CONSTANTLY BEATING HIM. The people that wrote this game are tools.
@@Vaquix000Very true, his lines that do stay the same don’t work as well either. Flashback Sephiroth felt fine to me but after he goes insane now he just be spouting nonsense. Are they tryna simulate the main villain being completely insane while not being a threat because no one knows what the fuck he is talking about and he has lost multiple times.
man was scary because in the OG he didnt appear. you chase after his trail of destruction. but now man is like your fucking best friend showing up left and right
Honestly this game made me feel sick at times. We as players grew to love cloud and seeing him slowly changing towards the end and him becoming insane realy hurt me. Especially seeing tifa.... I dont want to imagine how deep they will go on that in part 3... poor cloud... This games characters are just so well done..
I wish I was able play to play it myself. But so far I hate the fact she have to die again. But what I love so far. Is how this time her and Cloud Finally get to say last word to each other and battle together 1 last time. I wish they did that in the OG.
Aerith didn't die .Cloud is the only person that can see Aerith, and in Zack's timeline, Zack took Aerith to her home because of her fainting. Maybe Aerith is seperated , I mean her soul is in Cloud's timeline, and the real body part is in Zach's timeline, similar to the Sephiroth. You see Zack sat in the church in slamedug at the ending, and the yellow flowers are blooming but not wilting. It indicated that Aerith is back. So maybe we could see Aerith "alive"(her soul return to its body in Zack's timeline), and all of them fight "together"😢
Everybody in "Zacks timeline" seem to know who cloud is. Zack was lost bc he's been carrying Cloud around all this time. So is that really Zacks timeline?
I can see why people were miffed at the ending. Aeirth is supposed to be King Hamlet in Clouds mind. Is it really a ghost or his own guilt...But then having her stand there at the end as the crossing over song plays in the background, she says goodbye and the ending card says "no promises"...Girls dead.
she's physically dead but is contacting cloud through the life stream .... oh he feels guilty alright ....he just isn't schizo (or so the OG Game has it, maybe a bit of mako poisoning here and there)
I feel like her death was strangely executed. I guess it would be dumb to expect the same emotional impact, but reality is too glitchy, its harder too process what actually happened, especially for new players, the lack of immediate responce from cloud, he says something, but not here. And I wish they showed the actual stabbing, but gotta keep the rating.
@adandan I'm old school beat-FFVII-10+ times and kept up with everything in the expanded universe including the novels and I still was confused most of the time wondering "So like, is she dead or not?" It's like, oh Cloud saved her but she got stabbed in the other timeline but the timelines merged but now the blood is gone so maybe she's still alive but she's with Cloud but is that just a spirit or hallucination wtf I imagine for any new player it's even waaaaay worse (since the shots of the timeline of Aerith being stabbed would probably be completely out of the blue for them)
@adandan I think what happened here is that an alternate timeline was created by Cloud actually blocking the attack in one timeline (Like how the end of the first game created alt world Zack). When it shows Cloud block the attack, and the next scene has Aerith fall over, she's in a different location then the earlier scene... So the Cloud waking up Aerith was the the blocked world 3? Or it's all in Clouds mind...
My take on this is that the Cloud we have at the end is a Cloud who is merged with the timeline that saved Aerith and the one that didn't. He see's both at the same time and he's somewhat aware of it. Sephiroth and Aerith both have the ability to merge and divide timelines and Sephiroth's goal is to create a perfect setup to become an absolute God by creating a bunch of timelines then merging them in a way where he wins. The Aerith we have at the end is the one that was saved from Sephiroth's plunge and she's going back to her timeline to start the opposite of what he's doing to counteract his plans. Next game will have all the timelines come together (reunion)
This is the end of Disk 1, By the way. There's 2 more. TWO OF THEM. I don't think people are ready for just how much story is behind this game when it's fully fleshed out. Edit: Also I think people forget that the entire ocean becomes a thing after the Junon raid.
Why doesn't it play Birth of a God for Bizarro Sephiroth? Honestly, One Winged Angel is overused, it's supposed to be the magnum opus at the very end of FFVII
If you will listen carefully, it's not the original One-Winged Angel. It's always different, the motiffs don't go as they should, in wrong order, in wrong pitch. It indicates that we'll only hear *that one* true version only in the final battle. I think it's a good take.
@@КонстантинПаршуков-о6б I know, but rendition or not using it twice for Final Boss music is pretty absurd considering Sephiroth has nore themes than just that one song. I get where you're coming from with the True Version, but for years Sephiroth's song has just been One Winged Angel.
Yeah, the first time you hear One Winged Angel in the original game, it's such an epic moment because it's so unexpected, and up until that point none of the music in the game featured vocals. I honestly don't know how they can top it considering we've heard so many variations of the theme.
@@ThirdStrikeGenesis Nah, his theme song was the one when he burned down the town. That was human sephiroth's theme. One Winged Angel was Sephiroth's One Winged Angel theme, when he actually was a one winged angel. This pathetic "normal sephiroth but with one black wing" is nothing compared to that version and it REALLY doesn't fit such an underwhelming design.
I thought Cloud won't let that happen, I thought the Remake Rebirth was gonna change History and would never see Aerith Die. In the end I see the same image Aerith Again
Relax, there are at least 3 Aeriths and in Zack's timeline she is still alive. Sephiroth wants to bring the worlds together and there is still a lot of mystery
@@BeccaMoranguinho Sir, I have a question, didn't Aerith give the white materia to cloud in the church earlier, so how does she still have it as she dies? (I have only spoilt myself the ending and the og's story, seems like this one has some bit of changes)
@@BeccaMoranguinho This whole thing is confusing. One scene has the party surrounding dead Aerith, the second has Cloud waking up Aerith. Did he just create an alternate timeline like in the end of the last game?
@@Zellio2011 aerith is dead. cloud's state of mind has basically gone insane, hence aerith being alive is just an alternate reality of how he wishes things went down instead (even though he doesn't realise that it's fake).
This game got a 92 on metacritic yet they ruined the best scene from the original. I remember keeping a specific save file just for that one part so I could go back and watch it again, horrible directing on Square Enix's part messing that up. Cloud never blocks the sword at all, and there being no speech afterward and no laying Aeris to rest in the lake, they actually would show that on movie trailers, it is really sad that the kids today dont get to see that, too hardcore for them i guess.
I think they change detail a lot because they already knew a lot of people already played OG and for new player it explain a lot why Aerith need to die (because they will spend a lot of time making last game if they won't explain here it will be so much confused)
I think i understand the plot here There was a 3 Timeline 1. Original (Zack dead) 2. Remake/Rebirth 3. Zack Timeline (Everyone in Coma/Dead) If you notice whenever the whisper come to bothering the cloud party. The timeline are swap. If you wondering what happen to the ending and final fight. Aerith was dead in og cloud did nothing to save her / but in remake/rebirth perspective Aerith was saved by cloud. Zack helping cloud and the gang from his timeline. in the ending it show aerith was alive and cloud can only seen her and red also can feel her presence in Rebirth Timeline and also it showing that she dead and everyone mourning her death in Original Timeline

If he's actually seeing visions of her, that'd actually add a nice touch to the moment Cloud has a breakdown and believes to be just another copy of Sephiroth and delivers the black materia to him.
Remake Cloud has it rough. I like that cloud reverted back to crisis core cloud as soon as he reunited with Zack 😂 imagine if Zack survived canonically, cloud would never have become so bitter
Zack is such a great mentor/friend/comrade. Hard to go bitter with him.
...bitter?
Cloud is crazy.
Tifa is what made him bitter.
I honestly was expecting Cloud to go even more mental
Why do you think Zack shouted “Save her?”
I love how the first phase of Jenova Lifeclinger has Aerith's theme like the OG. Then it transitions to a very badass remix of J-E-N-O-V-A with the final phase even having a guitar.
"Oh no! Anyway...guitar solo f*ck yeah!"
I don't think it's that case
I think Cloud just had much more confident and understand why Aerith need to die
maybe right now Cloud link to lifestream or Aerith or something so he can talk to her in the end
The scene he talk with Aerith is he already knew Aerith is dead and reason of that to stop meteor and he will stop Sephiroth

and next game will be disc2+disc3 be ready for a lot of cut contents
@@solitaregames I don't think Zack has a timeline. I think he's dead but just doesn't know it yet. He's navigating the lifestream. It's why when Cloud gets pulled into the stream during the final fight, he meets both Zack and Aerith again.

Cloud saved Aerith.
Arbiters reset so Aerith died like in the original.
Jenova fight as usual.
Cloud fights Sephiroth. Aerith's Lifestream ghost helps.
Cloud thinks Aerith isn't dead and sees her and the sky hole when the others don't.

Am I in the ballpark?
yes, it's fucking retarded
Apparently, Cloud saved her in his mind, and watching her alive is just a way for him to cope with Aerith's death. (You can see Cloud holding Aerith and being sad.) So, all that talk about changing their fate or rewriting their destiny has gone down the drain, which means the arbiters are pointless too. Cloud actually said something to Aerith, it's just not audible, and they are saving that for Part 3
It's so saturated, noisy and Hollywoodized I can't even. I was just laughing the entire time
It's not that complicated, really. It's just showing Cloud trying to cope with it, which for me is a good call back to the way he acted in Advent Children and they have set this trend in which Sephiroth has to be the final boss in each segment of the remake and that's why they included the Bizzaro battle at the end.
@@sirdimitrescu3671But it isnt. Its really simple. Also we dont even know what they are setting up for part 3 since we didnt even see how it happened
Its just Cloud trying to cope with it. Seeing as we didnt see how it hapoened he will probably realize in part 3 and go mad
In my opinion, it is not that complicate and the expansion makes the it better than the original.
That's the point, they're trying to make the players question what is real in the Remake Timeline.....
its a build up for the final game
So in the end game they have 2 conclusive ending
The OG & whatever SE is trying to make
@somechinesedude5466 why to go this messy complicated route when it could be more simple around, there is no need to reach to a certain audience, because with their current direction they are alluding to that.
I mean that was the point?

I think Aerith did died in the current timeline we r playing, but she’s somehow alive in another timeline/dimension which I think we can somehow revive her in the final trilogy. The scene where Cloud was supposed to put her body into the water, but it didn’t. So I don’t think it’s final. Cloud is not completely crazy for seeing Aerith & Red sensing her too. Perhaps he couldn’t let go of her death in current timeline, but she still exists in another dimension dat we’ve yet to know, I think.
They just had to make this complicated.

@@bearjuncture Yeah, they seem to be taking the Kingdom Hearts route 😅😅😅😅

@@jessielou9138 The stuff you explained i know them from the OG FF VII except the Genesis part .. the thing is that in the OG, Sephiroth only used the robed guys and Jenova parts to conjure himself and do stuff .. in the remake he does that again BUT now there is also the winged one Sephiroth that's controlling the whispers that seems it's not a robed person nor Jenova but the real deal, especilly after he transformed to Bizarro Sephiroth, which begs my question if this guy is the OG Sephiroth do we have the naked Sephiroth inside the crystall hibernating this time around ? The one that transforms to Safer Sephiroth in the OG
@@thanashsEither he’s dimension/timeline hopping and there’s two Sephiroths (which is probably more likely) or it’s the original Sephiroth awakened with all the knowledge he has in the same way Aerith is aware of all this stuff.

@seow5789 May be aerith like ghost, but in Cloud mind he saved her. May be cloud not remember he the one who bring aerith body to the lake like the original. Barret and tifa know something off with cloud, because just him who not have face sad.
Don’t think it’s more sad than the OG personally. Feel it conflicted itself and convoluted itself from its core message and themes of loss and dealing with it.
I was laughing the whole time watching Rebirth’s ending, vs crying. 😂
@@VetNoviceThat's Nomura for ya
@@VetNoviceThe difference is that in the original Aerith dies and you are forced into a relatively short and anticlimactic boss fight before the game actually addresses the weight of her death.
Whereas in Rebirth she dies and you are forced into an hour long final boss sequence with Aerith constantly popping up just to tease the possibility of her not being gone forever, and by that point the actual impact of her death is cheapened since we know she’ll return in some form during the finale.
Cloud basically believes in his head that Aerith is still alive. That’s what I got from all this. He might not be in a coma in the next game. Tifa is very likely gonna have to bring Cloud back to reality by telling him the truth of what really happened to Aerith
Also Zack 2 is definitely real also since we see things in his perspective from his world throughout the game.
Like original, they will face sephirote and lose.

49:34
Aerith: “How can you want this, Sephiroth?”
Sephiroth: “Begone, your part is played.”
Aerith: “How can you *want* an eternity of loneliness?”
That’s a small but profound exchange.

@@corjonbett Nah. The whole point of this game is to change the original not return to it after fooling us with false hope.
i think the reason why aerith’s pressence is there despite of being dead is because she is part of the lifestream, maybe in the sequel there is still a possibility to play as her and other dead characters in the after life, ( yes possible we can play as zack or angeal ) and the final boss would probably be the black materia meteor which the lifestream or aerith had stopped.
I fully agree on it being the lifestream myself,Cloud has mako poisoning, and when in contact, it feels the physical essence of mako and the lifestream,so Aerith is there. (Also why he gets visions of the past/future and gets general freakouts with the mention of Zack)
Also should be mentioned Red felt her presence when they were on the grassy terrain cause he is connected with it from her previously tapping him and calming him down. He was roped into what Aerith was familiar with and became knowledgeable of both the whispers and the future.
I think the next final boss is going to be Safer Sephiroth given this segment had the Bizarro one.

To add to another comment: all of this could've been prevented if Vincent stopped simping and took Lucrecia for himself 😂
Aerith still alive in Cloud Mind, done 😄
I think Aerith is wayyy more powerful than we think she is, basically a godess. She's been trying to "find" the real Cloud because that version of him is the key to saving everything. She knew the entire time.
The first time we see Aerith is the black whispers trying to stop her from meeting Cloud, i think.
I think she pushed Cloud out of that reality, to remove him from that one, to make him wake up in the main one, combining two Cloud’s (two timelines in one body). That gives him the power where he can see two timelines at once. Hence how he saved her in one.

I'm sorry, but Aerith's death scene in the 1997 PS1 original is much sadder and more emotional, even with the abysmal graphical difference. Where is he letting her body slowly sink into the lake?
I know right? They must have used the fire magic material and cremated her body or some bs lolz
The original kill of Aerith was better because it's shows Sephiroth really did kill her.
Yes 😒👍
Outside of graphics, the originals story is better.

And if Aerith wakes up, she'll die
So what happens to those versions of them?

Oh please hell no. The writing of the remake trilogy is already fan fiction-level bad, don't make it worse.
@@noflyzone2307 I don't really know that. The news reported that avalanche's member include Cloud boomed the plate, and Biggs surely know him.
It’s the lifestream The answer is literally right in front of us
I hope they know what they're doing for the 3rd game. But I am thankful that they kept much of the original story.
I can see why people were miffed at the ending. Aeirth is supposed to be King Hamlet in Clouds mind. Is it really a ghost or his own guilt...But then having her stand there at the end as the crossing over song plays in the background, she says goodbye and the ending card says "no promises"...Girls dead.
she's physically dead but is contacting cloud through the life stream .... oh he feels guilty alright ....he just isn't schizo (or so the OG Game has it, maybe a bit of mako poisoning here and there)
That ending like aerith artwork when we change from first disc to second disc.
@adandan I'm old school beat-FFVII-10+ times and kept up with everything in the expanded universe including the novels and I still was confused most of the time wondering "So like, is she dead or not?" It's like, oh Cloud saved her but she got stabbed in the other timeline but the timelines merged but now the blood is gone so maybe she's still alive but she's with Cloud but is that just a spirit or hallucination wtf
I imagine for any new player it's even waaaaay worse (since the shots of the timeline of Aerith being stabbed would probably be completely out of the blue for them)
@adandan I think what happened here is that an alternate timeline was created by Cloud actually blocking the attack in one timeline (Like how the end of the first game created alt world Zack).
Edit: Also I think people forget that the entire ocean becomes a thing after the Junon raid.
i want a refund on this game and i havent even played it
@@gamerd8709why? Haha ive never played it and this vid somehow went to my timeline. Is the game bad or confusing or what?
@@Disquiet925seems confusing asf
@ While that is true. You have to consider, we still havent seen the Weapons come up yet. There's probably a whole arc for them by itself
But disc 3 isn't so long so the next game COULD. Be the last Lol
god damn i just got home from work to watch that ending
im not even high and that was confusing as fuck
😂😂😂
I honestly don't know how they can top it considering we've heard so many variations of the theme.
because more is more, apparently! YGWYD
@@BeccaMoranguinhoso kingdom hearts garbage
I think they change detail a lot because they already knew a lot of people already played OG
and for new player it explain a lot why Aerith need to die (because they will spend a lot of time making last game if they won't explain here it will be so much confused)
I think i understand the plot here
There was a 3 Timeline
1. Original (Zack dead)
2. Remake/Rebirth
3. Zack Timeline (Everyone in Coma/Dead)
If you notice whenever the whisper come to bothering the cloud party.
