I am glad that I bought Focus with 1.6 TI-VCT engine. Reliability is essential.

3 cylinder, 1.0 litre, turbocharged... not a long life engine... just a littlebit faster than 1.6 litre engine but the bigger one is the best by Ford because very durable structure! After 150-200K km the 1.0 will go to the die!

1 litre ecoboom engine will burst into flames while the 1.6 ti/vct will soldier on.

So the 1.6 is a reliable engine?

Dunno my 1.6ti-vct was shit on fuel but very nippy....it must have been over fuelling as the plugs were black lol

Yeah, been running the 1.6 for 200.000+ now, every engine has its flaws but in general these 3 cylinder engines are shit, by all cars and dont have a long lifespan. Go electric or go 4+ on cylinders

ok it was good for a funny test, but what about general usability? who uses the car like this? HP at high revs aren't really usable in everyday use. Not to mention the reliability issues of the turbo.

Little did they know it would eventually..... after 60k mile be for ever known as the Ford EcoBoom engine.
Catastrophically poor engine most mechanics advise not to own.
    Ouch Ford 😁

Eco boom engine was Ford's mistake. Total disaster to have such car. 1.6 TI-VCT is way better engine. Reliability is essential.

Amateur automotive show ! Covers only popular aspects, like fuel economy and acceleration. Look at the european second-hand market, it is full of 1.0 Ecoboosts that craked some turbo or even shafts/pistons at 100.000km

How has the 1.6 TI-VCT fared in Europe?

@Hoodratliker I was planning to buy a second hand 1.6 ecoboost Focus or C-max, but after seeing how many failures the ecoboost engines have I bought a 1.6 105 Hp Ti-VCT C-Max with 200000km. What I can say is that the second hand market in Europe is full of eco-boost engines and 1.6 Ti-VCT are just a few. Also, the Ti-VCT powered models are more expensive on the second hand market because of the reliability.

@@bogdan8268in 2018 I bought Focus with 1.6 ti-vct from main dealer used approved. At this time was plenty of 1.0 ecoboost but I am glad that I avoided it.
