people hate talking $$ but im going to tell you all that as a southern californian i am paying $2400 a month for a 2 bedroom apartment because lower than that, you will live in a neighborhood that has theft and gunshots at night. Higher than that, I might have more than 750 sq ft of space but then no money for art and leisure. Its HARD having art hobbies and living here in so cal. Especially if you're first generation with parents who struggled due to language barriers and just being in underserved communities. I'm so thankful that Marlene is open enough to talk about these things because too many people dismiss our situation and say "just work harder" like we're not already doing the best we can with what we got!
aw marlene, this was so heartwarming to watch and i'm so so happy for you and your family 🥹 you're amazing and it's inspiring to see all that you do with the space that you have. rooting for you always!!! 💖
Congrats on the move! You and your family take such great care of each other 🥰. Excited to see your new studio setup and continue following your art journey!!
THE END OF THE VIDEO 😭 I have my setup on our dining table and sometimes it can be hard not to compare my tiny space to other illustrator's bigger ones. This video is really inspiring. Thank you for the little pep talk and for showing us your old room set up. This video really reminded me I can do great things! A huge congratulations on this step for you and your family!💛💛💛
love this for you all, Marlene! i’ve lived both on my own and with family, and though i enjoy both i will say how nice it is to be able to be close to the family and help each other out - especially with how expensive everything is. i think ‘multigenerational living’ is becoming more and more common as things get more expensive, and that’s okay! excited to see more of your journey and growth this year.
i use to be a little embarrassed of my situation, but then i was just grateful to have my family with me and have a great relationship with them because not everyone can say the same 🥲 Thank you so much for supporting my channel
I recently started to follow you on Instagram and this video just popped on my YT feed. I'm so happy for you and your family 💖I wish you all the best on this new chapter I bet new opportunities will be knocking your door soon and your art will be seen by millions! 🏡✨💕
Oh! Btw your Etsy Shop link on the description doesn't work (it says the page wasn't found), but the one on your website does (it says you're taking a break but I'm able to look at your products and everything) 🥰
Yes, living with family is the ONLY way in SoCal. 😅 I'm so excited for your family and this new spot! Also, I had NO IDEA you and Kim shared a room 🤯 Angles! The matching shoes 🏁 and the silent happiness from your madre! 🥹 I have my tissues ready for the next update. Also, I see you with this all the on camera talking!! So proud of you, Marlene! Keep stretching yourself 🤗
lol not many people knew we share a room 🙈 I would always laugh when people would be like "must be nice to have an art studio" lol if only they knew haha
Wow you look like such beautiful person inside and out… I had goosebumps the entire video. I love your authenticity you’re amazing congratulations you and your family deserve the best
Marlene! That is so exciting! Congratulations!!🎉 You are such a kind and talented person, thank you for inspiring me and all of us on here to work hard and pursue our dreams! ❤⭐️ We can do it!!! 💪💖

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that you shared this because when I first moved to the U.S 10 years ago and I used to be so embarrassed that I shared rooms with my family. I'm excited for you and your family's new journey :)
I love following your journey 🤎 Some content ideas that you might do are maybe cooking with your family/mom, making coffee, QA, vlog with your sister, etc. Anything really, sending hugs! ⭐
Loved this video, so heartwarming and relatable. You are a inspiration ✨ So happy for you and your family 💛 Wishing all the good keeps coming your way. And can’t wait for your new upcoming content 🤗

How exciting! I feel like as we’ve all been kind of stuck these last few years, this one has certainly called for change. I love to see what that means for each person. Can’t wait to see what you do in the new place!
Congratulations!! I did not know that you shared a room with your sister! I thought it was too different rooms. Fun fact about me is that I share a room with my nephew’s toys lol. Can’t wait to see the next video and seeing your moms reaction to the new house. I can already tell she loves the house!!!
Congratulations again 🎉 You're so sweet. Well done on pursuing your art without the so-called 'perfect' setup. That's so inspiring. I love that you have such a close-knit family ❤
I don't know what's considered of living with your parents and family in the US, but in India, that is very common and is considered a good thing even. Congratulations on this much-needed move, right?
in mexican culture it is common to live with your family for as long as you need or want 😊 in American culture you see kids moving out at a young age, once they graduate or go to university. thank you so much
The ending to it was perfect! I teared up 🥹 and it was such a reassuring video for me because I’ve been thinking on starting to pursue my art but I’ve been hesitant because I want to do it for the right reasons. So happy to see good things happen for you and your family ❤
