Paul, what if you and both your husband come from drug addicted/dysfunctional mothers who were not able to give us, or teach us about unconditional, healthy love? Are we doomed?
The amazing gift of free choice trumps any and all past bad experiences. You have the ability to climb out of those holes of despair, Granted, it takes some effort but think about how the effort you make will continue to propel you even after you have ascended from the bad habits you acquired while under their "care",
