I don't fully understand the critique because the manual was crap paired with S55 also in F87 comp. I owned one. In fact, a few owners I trust think that it's better overall in G87. S58 has bigger turbos and has a higher boost threshold, it's not because of gearing. M cars and M engines are always have less daily driveability and focus on track performance and you need to be "on" it. If people think S58 is soft off boost they should go back and drive an S65 V8. This is just reality, you will not get 500 HP out of a 3.0L 6 cyl with turbos the size of N55.
@ yes it is broadly true, the turbo S engines have bigger turbos and less torque at low rpm and the old NA engines are high strung, short geared, and also need to be revved out. I’ve owned several.
100% agree about the manuals... i owned a f80 manual (and drove a f87 manual) and the manual is def worse than the one in the g platforms. and that manual fits the vibe of the g platform cars better as well... the f platform was kind of meh tbh. hated the dead zone steering and inability to properly put the power down. plus they weren't fast... will take my g80 and g87 over my old f87 6 speed and f87 CS any day of the week.

Owned a G87 M2 8 speed auto. It was a freight train. Pulling to illegal speeds with a small press of the throttle... Just too heavy and didn't dance around like the original. The steering is too numb, and there is little communication until you hit the limit.

S58 is suited more for the track.. hence why its rev range is all mid to upper RPMs.
He complains there's less head room in the G87 M2 but doesn't mention the G87 has more leg room. I have friends who rode on both my previous F87 M2C and now the G87 M2 some were over 6ft tall.. they all clearly prefer the back seat of the G87 M2 more despite the lesser head room cause of the much increased leg room.
No they don't, I can't sit behind my 5'8" friend without my legs being amputated beneath ankles.
@@jkliao6486 Yes they do.. I'm 5'7 and in my seating position can sit people that are about 6ft ish in my G87 M2.. It's not the most comfortable but no need for them to amputate their legs.
@@patc8653 Look, first off, 5'7" is definitely on the smaller side. Second, when you say about 6', your friends are at most 5'10" because otherwise you would use the word "over" rather than "about". Combining those two, and given that I'm 6'1" bare foot, it's fair to say we have the same experience, except you are exaggerating a little bit about both you and your friends height in your original comment.
