    Jess has a calming elegance about her. As a beginner, I appreciate this style of video. There are no crazy graphics, no annoying editing tricks, or obnoxious content. We get to hear her thought process, watch her play, then see the results. Also, despite the rain, that golf course looks really nice.

      That’s very kind, thank you! The course is in great shape, even after all the rain we’ve had! Thank you for watching ☺️

    Lovin your mannerisms Jess, especially the creeping away from a well struck chip shot as if it's a sleeping lion... You do make me chuckle 😊

      Haha! I’ll always think of sleeping lions when I’m chipping now 🤣

    Nice item! For me looking back at almost one and a half year when I started golf at the age of 69, the most important thing is to learn that golf is not an easy sport and very much a mental game. As a beginner you have to learn to cope with great shots followed with days of almost not hitting a ball. And even later consistency is still such a big thing everybody seems to be longing for. You need resilience in a round of golf.

      Thank you, Michael! Yes! Resilience is such a good point.

    Hey Jess, from a caddying point of view for amateurs they never look at where the best miss is. So understanding where if they don’t strike it perfect or play the shot they are looking for where is the best place to get up and down from. Always something to consider.

      Hey Colin, thank you! I definitely didn't do that well this time, especially with those par 3 tee shots and then the rescues on the par 5s that I didn't think would reach and then were pin high(ish) but in tricky up and down spots. I'll put the best miss mindset into action on the next one, thank you!

    West Surrey is looking in great condition Jess.
    I felt you played some very good stuff there, especially given the weather you were experiencing.
    Definitely playing off the Yellow Tees throughout the year will improve your Summer play and hopefully scores.
    Id say don't just play South of England courses, try courses further North...Suggestions would/could be The Belfry, Notts (Hollinwell), Ganton, Moortown, Carus Green (often seen on GolfMates Channel) and Silloth as the ultimate test...make sure you play it in decent weather though as it is an absolute bear if its not flat calm and sunny 😂😂😂
    Looking forward to watching this series 👍

    Great video Jess. I'd love to hear you talk in a bit more detail about your aiming point for approach shots/par 3 tee shots. i.e. how are you considering short side, cover distance, and "best miss" location.

      @@jessratcliffegolf oooh so exciting! Can't wait to see them 🫶 Really would love to see a comparison of distances with the different hybrids (If I'm being really honest I didn't know until very recently that you could get different hybrids!)

    • @jessratcliffegolf
      @jessratcliffegolf  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can do that 😊. As a starting benchmark, the 3 hybrid (which is the new addition to the bag) goes about 15 yards further (carry distance) than my 4 hybrid.

    When your new golf clubs arrive you will need to redo your yardages. I have the QI10 Max driver and love it, 3wood question mark on it still and just purchased a 4 hybrid. I am waiting on the new hybrid from TaylorMade

    Good to see you back Jess, really enjoyed the video. Lots of "tickles", a "might be dangerous" and my favourite "chipperoni" 😊. Totally agree with KentDebi, Silloth is a tremendous course but don't stop there carry on driving to the Highlands to golfing heaven at Royal Dornoch.

    Hi Jess 😊. I’m a performance psychologist at a golf academy in Cornwall. I’d be interested to hear hour thoughts on the mental side of the game? I found your notes after each hole interesting. I was wondering if you have notes on what went well and not just what to improve? Just a thought.

    • @jessratcliffegolf
      @jessratcliffegolf  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Alex, thank you for watching! That's a great point, I do tend to focus on what I can improve rather than acknowledging what went well too. I'll factor that in going forward! I can struggle with the mental side of the game, especially in competition rounds - it's almost like I'm riding the extremes, either feeling strong mentally or crumbling. It's a work in progress 😊

  • @jameshoward3303

    It seemed a bit of a struggle but +2 after 5 is not bad at all so your making the most of what you have right now . Good luck with the new format.

    Hi Jess, you played well thought your putting was excellent. But as a recent discoverer of Dan Grieve I think you didn't use his thoughts on golfing iq when chipping and went for release 2 when you might of played release 1.If you practice his methods I think you will lower your handicap more. If you fancy the challenge of playing a course inside a racecourse and a trip to Scotland would love to see you play my local course Kelso.

    Hi Jess, Can I ask where did you get that saying "Never up Never In"? I have heard that before but don't know what it means. Love your channel. Cheers

    • @jessratcliffegolf
      @jessratcliffegolf  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Of course! I’ve heard it on the course quite a bit and in golf commentary, I think. They’ll say it when someone leaves a putt short because if the ball isn’t up (past the hole), it hasn’t got a chance of going in, so “never up, never in” ☺️
