That 5 hybrid putt was unreal dude
I came here to comment on that shot.
Wish I had a better camera angle on it! Definitely my best shot of the round, which says a lot about how poorly I was playing :p
Dude. That was crazy.
Haha there's me in opposite fairway at 5:32
Great vid bro! That hybrid putt was so so sick. With the way that pin was setup that day that was incredible touch to get it that close
Collab incoming?
Cheers! Haha that was my best shot of the day, which says a lot about how bad my game is. I texted you, yeah? Would love to get out and play!
Course management is the main thing I've learned from your channel. It's easy to get into hitting your longest club when the shot allows. Most of of time it's better to take a second to think about what the correct shot should be, with position rather than distance in mind.
I really enjoyed the hole overviews when talking through some of your shots. Was really helpful to see what you're seeing as we don't normally see that with the camera
Love listening to you analyse your shit selection. Makes a big difference, helping me manage a round with what I've got in the locker, and not trying to play the hero. 👍
"Love listening to you analyse your shit selection. " lol! I know you meant shot but this is waaay funnier!
@@Jack-tp5qk 🤦♂️
3rd shot on 3 was amazing. 👏
Looked like the putting surfaces were different speeds. Your reads were really good.
The greens looked tough !
I enjoyed this it felt very high stakes since it was a tournament
Great video. I know it is tough to film and play. But to do it under tournament pressure, that is rough. Plus the slow play thing. Ouch. Still a great round 83 is no joke under those conditions!
Great to see a video of competition play! As someone who plays in tournaments regularly, I can give some tips around the slow play issue and mentality around it:
* Evaluate if you're actually a slow player, if you aren't you can't control how quickly others play, so don't let it impact your play. For shots off the green, once you get to your ball & it's your turn to play you should be making your shot within 40-60 seconds. Get your distance, go through your preshot routine, & then take your shot. If your preshot routine is too long, work on shortening it in practice. If you're not first to play, then a lot of this can be done while waiting for playing partners to take their shots, so you're ready to swing when it's your turn.
* Getting stuck with slow players in a tournament is inevitable. If you're less a full hole behind, don't worry about it, however once you get the warning from the marshal, that gives the green light for you to keep the group conscious of pace of play.
* If your group is behind, play ready golf. Most tournaments this is the standard, but if not, make sure to mention it to your group.
* Once two people of the group have holed out, they should both head to the next tee and tee off. You don't need to wait for the whole group to finish, you just need one other person to be present for putting out & teeing off.
* Reconcile scores for the previous hole while in motion or waiting at the next tee. No reason to do it immediately after exiting the green.
Keep up the great work. Looking forward to more competition videos!
Thanks!
The tournament round videos are just priceless.
I really enjoy watching you play
That putt on 1 made me audibly "ooof" at work.
Hold the finish 😂 great stuff! Thanks for sharing!
First of all, I LOVE your videos. Great and entertaining golf. By far, the best golf content on TH-cam.
I have posted a similar comment before, but here I go again: I always watch you taking unnecessary risks in tap in putts, sometimes hitting them in weirds ways, which -like on the 4th hole- can add some strokes to your final score.
Keep pushing man. Very inspiring story and superb content. Cheers, from Argentina.
That first birdie is an example of that old saying: I didn't come here to lay up.
also a good example of how scoring really works see @decadegolf
My game is the exact same as your game. Will stay tuned in for help to improve!!
Love the tournament videos Adam! Keep trying.
Your mental fortitude is so good. Taking notes ✍
That recovery on 16 was incredible. The putt after was definitely a test from the golf gods lol. Great round my friend!
I love watching your putting in your videos, such a great combination of skill and game experience. But man, that KILLED me to watch you miss that short putt. It was like watching one of your favorite characters unexpectedly getting iced in Sopranos. 🙃
lolllllll
What i love about his content is theres a disillusion about to be good at golf and make low scores you have to hit 300+ yards 2 putt everything and find all fairways but thats not the case at all. In addition to this gotta love his mind set after a bad shot just focus on the next one and dont let ego get the better of you 10/10 brother
Your putting is better than most scratch golfers.
Thanks, although maybe not in this round!
Great vid and well played!
You're the man!
Must be tough filming while on the clock Adam. Back nine score seems to reflect that.
Hybrid putt was clutch.
Great stuff Adam!
Wow! Some amazing shots! 👌
decent round. Good job (V from japan) "email check"
One of my club buddies was rolling along at +2 when he got to the par 5 10th. He needed a chip and putt for par. Chipped to within 8 feet, missed the par putt, then got mad, and went into "weekend golf mode" over the remaining putt. He missed it, then missed the next tap in, then missed the next one. And the next, and then finally tapped in for a 10. The #1 rule in tournaments is that you have to putt out -- which means you have to keep your cool when you miss a par putt. My buddy forgot all about that, and ended up losing his flight by 2 strokes.
I think on the 1st hole sometimes you have to take the risk. But good course management can like you have shown us can lead to some good scoring chances!! Course looks like a fun one would love to see you play there in summer when it's bit a drier out there!!
Really?! officials are worried about 6 minutes in an amateur competition!? what a complete crock.
I actually appreciate that they're out there enforcing pace. If we had indeed been 16 minutes slow, I'd agree that a warning would be justified. Just frustrating that the official had our time wrong :p
Sorry for the month old comment.
Love your content and insight man!
I’m looking to try out tournament play to get this competitive bug and I feel like there’s so many options online I don’t know where to start.
Is there anywhere you look or somewhere you recommend to start looking for tournaments?
Strokeplay is hard enough in a Saturday comp but tournaments are a different level of pressure. Knowing that one shot can end your whole tournament is mental torture. Really puts into perspective how good the guys are who are winning PGA Tour events.
Nice 83 in a tournament! P.S. Can't see your entire scorecard at 12:09 because of the pop ups in the corners.
Great vibes from Mr Turtleneck. Had you played together before or was he a rando?
5 hybrid, 5 hybrid, 4 hybrid on 3… long hole.
If you’re ever playing in a tournament with a stickler for the rules, be careful about holding the pin while tapping in. I had a buddy get called for that in a high school tournament
Funny you say this! After doing it, I thought, "oh shit, was that allowed?" Had to look up the rule: 13.2b(1)/2 allows a player to hold the flagstick in one hand while making a stroke with the other. But it also states that the player must not deliberately let the ball in motion hit the flagstick.
@@NotAScratchGolfer This is great to know, I can't wait until my buddy calls me on that next time!
Something about tourney golf when things get sped up its so hard to slow it down and compartmentalize. I don't know how many tourneys I've played where I'm patient on the first 9 telling myself be patient then all of a sudden that devil on your left shoulder starts screaming in your head "lets go low" and the wheels fall off
We played that course on Sunday. It was blowing 30km/hours and higher with gusts. It was so strong tee shot cleared the 9th green and I don’t hit that long. 2 holes later needed driver + hybrid to do a total of 330 yards 😂
ok seeing hole 7 as your 'first' hole took a second but otherwise great to see the Links back on the Channel!
Was this played recently? I’m itching for golf season to start on the prairies but we’re a month and a half away still at minimum. How soon can you play in Vancouver or is it year round like Victoria?
dude your shots are straight , putts are forced ,good golf
IGA might be my favourite golf sponsorship yet.
for hole 3, if I'm correct, there's penalty if you hold the flag while putting.
Used to be, but no longer.
Something glitching with the tracers. Very weird. Makes it hard to watch
Yeah it was frustrating during the edit. Not sure why it happened.
Nothing like trying to keep the right mindset and having a rules official run up and say YOU'RE GOING TOO SLOW!! HURRY UP HURRY UP!!!
Is part of your tournament strategy clubbing way up? Surprised you're hitting hybrids in from 160-180?
I clubbed up a few times in this round. Sometimes it was a course management decision, and conditions were also a factor. It was 40° with a light breeze.
@@NotAScratchGolfer thanks for the reply, tournament golf is something else! As unforgiving as it gets.
Man, the VGT pace police have a real way of messing up a golf swing. I understand why they're there, and support the intent, but it's hard when they warn you and you're doing your level best to play quickly..... especially when your playing partners are the main offenders.
I appreciate that they're out there enforcing pace. Just a bit of a clusterf*ck that the rules official had our time wrong!
Who is we
475 par 5???? I want to be in this tournament so easy to go low with those lengths
I’m sure you’d shoot 65
@@SethMoxie maybe 95 if I’m lucky but the only thing going lower than 65 is your subscribers
@@Jakeanbake69 🤣🤣🤣 that was good, not gonna lie
Throw someone a few $$ to set up to film your shots and the rules official will stay off your case.
I actually had my friend filming this round.
@@NotAScratchGolfer I was curious about that because I thought the rules official was on your case due to setting up filming. All good.
i cant stand a rules official during a tournament over just 6 minutes you cant play absolutely perfect all the time and in a tournament you gotta play your ball.
That course was in awful shape. Wow.
You take the club back too far and too flat.
My trademark
@@NotAScratchGolfergotta love the unsolicited advice 😂
I wish the backswing could be edited out. Start the cut at the top, LOL.
Those greens looked horrible.
