It was nice of you & Simon to give Yanis well deserved praise for all his hard work, all the knowledge and skills he has retained and Yanis's work ethic! It is such a joy to watch him and see his progress. Wish we could have more of a background on Yanis. He appears to be a very interesting person.
If I recollect correctly, Yanis is a friend of Moe’s (Billy’s sister, Sadie’s, boyfriend) and they are both originally from Algiers (?) and French is their first language. Moe and Yanis work and lived at the Chateau. They were on a few of Sadie’s vlogs awhile back and she introduced Yanis and gave a little bit of info about him. That’s all I remember.
Yanis is like a little whippet, he deserves all the praises from Simon and Billy. He is eager to learn & picks things up so quickly, despite the language barrier. Would love to see Yanis take over the restoration of the apartment that Billy gave Ryan before he bought his first house. Give Yanis something to do in his spare time and put his own stamp on the apartment, showing everyone just how much he has learnt from Billy, Simon and the gang.
Your grandparents home is lovely and cosy. I hope Alex enjoys his break, I hope there is nothing wrong with Alex? Yanis has come a long way and I am so glad that Simon praises him. Simon and Yanis and your dad work so well together. Great to have Simon back.
The view from the back of the hallway at the convent to the front gate is going to be something special when it is all finished. As a former librarian, it is great to see those beautiful book stands ready to go into the convent. No doubt you will end up with some rare books and those stands will be perfect for looking at them. Don’t forget the white cotton gloves.
Thank you for pointing that out to me. A search of Google Scholar brought up a number of recent research papers on the topic of gloves or no gloves. Quite a lot of debate on the issue actually. Worth a read and there would be more information in other databases. Obviously, a subject of study on its own. Something for another forum.
The wood cases are going to be beautiful in the library. It would be great if any of the nuns were alive to come an see all the things u have done on there old home😊😊😊
Doubt that any of the nuns who lived there are still living, but maybe invite the nuns of the same order that ran the convent. They may also have information/knowledge on the daily living style, etc.
Those display cases will make a great addition to the library! You’ve got so many projects started, you may need a larger team to complete them! Do you have any more family or friends you can recruit to help you? I would love to see the chapel ceiling restoration begin, and I can’t wait to see how the library turns out! Simon and Yannis are doing a great job at your grandparent’s house. That cove molding is stunning!
Yes, Billy certainly has an eye for auction buys. And I love that he is finding a use for these amazing pieces of antique craftsmanship rather than see them be overlooked or discarded. The convent is going to be a work of art when Billy finishes it although I somehow think it may be his lifelong project. Love his vision and work ethic! 💪🏻💪🏻🏆❤️👏🏻👏🏻
I really love it when Billy talks and explains what's going on, more than I enjoy long stretches of stretches of silent workvvideos. That's just me maybe. But I do enjoy hearing him. They are all kind, pleasant fellows. How lucky we are to have them!
Me too! No disrespect to the artistry of the editing but less slow motion cinematography would be my preference too once in a while. Both are beautiful.
I like both to be honest , I love seeing the lads work and the tips that Simon gives us .. sometimes I do laugh at the really dramatic suspenseful music and think to myself , omg this is the most dramatic chalking around the windows and ozmoing of cabinets I ever saw 😅😅 the anticipation of it all 😂
Yannis is very lucky to be mentored by you and Simon. He is a hard worker too! I think your grandparents have raised a fabulous family , all with a strong work ethic and skill sets! I hope all is well with Alex, he is also a very talented videographer.
You do a fantastic job of making the videos, Billy! It makes much more work for you, but you just keep Cracking On! I love seeing Simon and Yanis working together so smoothly. You are all wonderful lads! Grand dad must be so proud and grateful to have you all.
The grandparents’s house will look splendid and cozy very soon. It is amazing how quickly and expertly Simon and Yanis get the job done! Well deserved praise.
I, too, would love to see a recap (of sorts) about Yanis - how he came to be working with you, etc. He’s a lovely chap… always so cheerful and has come to be one of my favorites on your channel.
It was so nice of you and Simon to give Yannis well deserved compliments. You both gave him an amazing opportunity to learn many skills, and he took the opportunity and made the most of it. Your grandparents house is lovely. The crown molding in the living room looks great and the flooring being consistent into the hallway is going to make the house more modern and fresh!! xx
Billy’s neatness and attention to a clean, organized workspace make me feel calm and reassured somehow 🤪. Messy and disorganized workers cause me a bit of stress ……..strange I know, but it’s part of the huge appeal of your videos to me 🤗
I absolutely love that you and Simon took Yanis under your wings, his learning and skills will last him his lifetime… I feel those are the things we all should do teach others what we know to leave the world a better place… thank you Billy for taking us on your journey…
The display cases look beautiful. I was thinking when I first saw them that some of the objects you have discovered at the convent would look lovely displayed in the cases, which you mentioned right afterward. I love the fact that Simon and Yannis are together again. Simon's so wonderful and patient as he explains how to do a task, and Yannis has learned so much from him, and from you, Mick and the others, and you can see how much confidence he is developing in his skills and how eager he is to learn more. I wish I had a few people like him at my job! Simon and Yannis are doing a wonderful job at your grandparents' home. It's a lovely place.
Your videography skills are excellent, Billy. And we will all be kept up with the progress on your grandparents' house & the convent! Glad you said what a lot of us have been writing: Yanis has grown in skill & confidence. The more he learns, the faster he learns! Great team. & I enjoy Ryan's weekly vlogs with Nick Moon.
The cabinets from the library are a great way to display your detecting finds. We have a smaller version with our detecting finds in it it's a great way to protect the relics and view them well done mate.
@@tinycotswoldcottage Agreed. Now we have longer periods of on-site sounds and noises, the way every workday goes on a renovation site. Love Alex. I really like watching the manual labor and bullwork without commentary with the great added with music. I have watched every wall, brick and bit of mud would have missed that if it was all chat

Billy’s gonna be busy building my version of heaven which is a big olde library with beautiful books ❤ cannot wait for it. Honestly , it’s going to be amazing !
Exquisite cabinet/ bookcases display units! Very lucky to get them Your Grandparents are important! It’s cold and they need to be in their house settled

That Crown Moulding looks really nice. We need to do that in our homes. I think crown moulding and chair railing completes a room. Don’t know what those things are called over there.
I seem to be more excited about the entrance hall than the kitchen! Two things about the floating LVL floor:
1. In the last video, I saw you left expansion joints almost all the way around, but you butted it right up against the other floor in one spot. Are you sure that won't cause problems? I believe best practice is to still leave a bit of a gap and just cover it with a wider transition strip
