    I've been doing my own euros for years now, and this is by far the best method that I've come across!
    Now, I re-watch this video every year before I get started on a mount. You do such a great job of presenting the information!

    You inspired me to clean my first skull. I now have the skull of a cat that was a part of the lives of my entire neighborhood. Our name for him was Target, an orange cat with white patches on his side in the shape of a shooting target. Thanks to your guidance he has now been immortalized, his skull on the way to be painted by the community he was closest to. Thank you for what you do.

    Followed every step, and had a wonderful result. Went to Sally's Beauty Supply to pick up the 40 volume developer, the lady behind the counter knew exactly what i was doing and helped me out. Start to finish about 3 hrs all in to skin, boil, wash, reboil, and bleach. Mop and Glo looks great on the bone. Thank you for all the pointers, fantastic video series. I did get some bleaching of the horns above the masking of the base, assuming its due to the steam rising above the taped area. will either wrap the whole horn next time or use a squirt/spray bottle to rinse with water during the bleaching process.

    Hey Ryan! Awesome video. Learned a ton. I have been using the instructions from your video and have a couple questions
    1. When you boil the whitetail head in oxi clean, do you need to wrap the antlers? Will they discolor or is that only the case during the h202 step? Approximately how long do you have to boil during this oxiclean stage?
    2. Is it okay to soak the whitetail head in odorban after I have already done the peroxide boil?
    Thank you!!!!
    Jeremy .

    Absolutely love your videos. Thank you for sharing. I like to do euro's myself, on a smaller scale. I have a couple questions for you. I have trouble getting my hands on 40 volume clear developer, but I have no problem no getting 20 volume clear developer. Will 20 volume work for boiling if I don't dilute it quite as much? Also, I can get 40 volume creme developer, so, could a guy dilute the creme developer in water for boiling? I'm sure in time I'll be asking more questions! Ha! Again, thank you so much for making and sharing such great videos. Much appreciated.

    • @termite122
      @termite122 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      absolutely...the lower jaw falls off while boiling..once the cleaning is all done and there dry you simply line up the jaw where it would be when the animal was alive and make a pencil mark at the very end of the lower jaw which is like a rounded tab which is basically rite under the eye socket..then a very small drill bit and drill thru the lower jae and rite into the main skull..then a small stainless steel sheet metal screw on each side and your done..to me none of these skull mounts look good without the lower jaw attached..it just looks a million times better with the lower jaw..

    I use volume 40 creme peroxide(beauty salon store) mixed with magnesium carbonate to get skulls white. Mix to the consistency of thin peanut butter, and brush on every crevice, this mixture will expand, let it sit for 24 hours. After 24 hours rinse in cold water brushing off and of the mixture. The longer the skull sits in the sun the whiter it gets. I don't boil but simmer. I use a splash of lysol and dawn dish soap along with 1/4 cup of sodium carbonate(Sal Soda) per gallon of water. This is a great detailed video tahnks for sharing. I do whitetail and mule deer, these skull aren't as greasy as hogs, cats and bear.

    Thank you so much for this. I'm doing my first taxidermy project ever, I'm learning all I can before I get going--which I'm gathering and kind of guessed obviously needs doing quickly. My ultimate goal is not a precious end result, skeleton and maybe a skin. There are so many good things you've gone over that will be so helpful, I can already tell. I'm so glad I found your channel.

    Great video. So much information to absorb and learn. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'm doing my buck by maceration but if it becomes a hobby I will be going to your method for sure.

      Everything went pretty good for the first time trying to euro! Coyote dead head didn't bleach quite enough. Still has a little grey in it. And an antelope tooth went out with the bath water. Still looking for it. But I'm learning and they'll be on the wall shortly.

    I have done a few using your method. I have been using Dawn dish soap and some Gain laundry detergent for the degreaser. They turned out great. I just did one and used "Purple Power" degreaser and Dawn dishsoap in my boil. I didnt change the time that I boiled the skull, but it seems like some of the bone structure was eaten away. Might have been from the Purple Power. I put about 3-4 oz in 1.5 gal of water.

    i have seen several videos on skull mounts, this is by far the most interesting, well done...self-taught? wow...the only suggestion i can think of is why not use a spray bottle for the mop & glow, can get easy into the skull crevices...

    I secure mine to a tree, leave it out over winter and spring. Check it come summertime. Spray off with hose. Soak it in five gallon bucket of bleach water 1/10 ratio. After about 24 hours it’s perfect. You can use wood stain to custom finish the antlers. I like them white.
