    Edwin/Lifeline is a character I need in my G.I.Joe Classified collection. To me he's an important character to the Joe Team as he's the medic officer and the "heart and soul" who cares deeply for his teamates.

    I wasn't a big fan of Lifeline as a child, i mean a militar who doesn't believe in violence but while growing up you change the perspective about life and as a aikido practitioner myself I started to feel more sympathy for the character and understanding him, great video man, looking forward to see the next

    I feel to many people slack on Lifelines cartoon counterpart unfairly. People say he's annoying and a wimp. I feel the only reason people say this is just because he's a pacifist. I actually really like him in the cartoon and he dose have really good moments. Dose anyone remember when he gave that speech to wet-suit when they were trying to save leatherneck in the episode my favorite things? That was a really good moment. He also had good appearances in the episodes the most dangerous thing in the world, the million dolor medic, and second hand emotions. People being a pacifist doesn't make you a wimp nor a coward it can make you the strongest person in the room at times.

  • @cowpuddles4851

    I’m tired of the pacifist medic trope. Combat medics go through the same basic as everyone else. We throw grenades, qualify with rifles, and are exposed to machine gun operation/care. Yes, medics are discouraged from using weapons of mass destruction, but we certainly can carry weapons to protect ourselves and our patients. We are soldiers first. No pacifist would make it through SF training, never mind into GI Joe. And that bright red uniform? No way. I had red-handled trauma shears on my kit and got blasted by my first sergeant. Also, combat medic training is only equivalent to EMT basic, not paramedic. They should have made Lifeline a physician assistant.

    • @Qardo
      @Qardo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well, tell that to Desmond Thomas Doss. The literal embodiment of this trope in real life. And likely the man who inspired it.
      As he was a World War 2 Field Medic and never carried a weapon into battle. Yet he ran headlong into a firefight to recover and treat injuries.
      For his brave actions in saving lives during war. He was awarded the Medal of Honor.

      Good luck explaining to your command why you didn’t shoot back at the enemy. There is a reason why, on deployment, you are issued enough rounds to fill your magazines. You are expected to use them when necessary. But I guess things have changed. It’s your military. Do what you like lol...

      @@cowpuddles4851 A Military Medic, specifically the Army 68W, straight out of AIT is NREMT-B but can still perform advanced procedures under Military protocol. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, New York State relaxed it's Protocols. Navy's Independent Duty Corpsman function differently but may not necessarily be NREMT certified. Depends upon which Service/ Branch/ Component they are part of.

      R S I think Sneed was Army, and yes, we are allowed several interventions that are above the Basic level. Regardless, the physician assistant can do far more than the EMT, and actually grew out of the SF medical training program. Lifeline would have been better cast as a PA. Perhaps because PAs were not around in the 80’s, this option was not available. Maybe he could have been a nurse practitioner?
