Hi, is it possible to animate a chain moving along sprocket in Solidwork Composer? Cant seems to find any tutorial for this kind of motion on the internet.
Chain animation inside Composer is a fairly difficult task. The ability to bring in views that come from SOLIDWORKS explode steps seemed promising, but only if you could “fake” the chain movement with a series of explode steps. Creating the movement and rotation for one component is possible (see this video from SOLIDWORKS: th-cam.com/video/jle7ekUoZo8/w-d-xo.html), but when you start scaling this up to include all of the other chain links, then it might become overwhelming. The TH-cam video in the link brings in a second component that follows the same path as the original, so imagine doing that for the rest of the links. One idea was to create the animation in regular SOLIDWORKS and then create a link to the animation, either thru a hyperlink or an external file. There are a couple of enhancement requests concerning this topic that have already been submitted, so submit it again and maybe SOLIDWORKS can implement an easy solution.
