Yes... I noticed in my these 2 extra neat the footwell. Strange as it is, even though I can feel the punch of the woofers in my ears while sitting, I can't feel the woofers punching if I put my hands in front of the grille. I think that's really weird. Also, I have an additional speaker in the middle of the rear panel 🤔
Great video ,well explained and slow enough to understand. Why did Bmw design the speakers to be so difficult to change,a screw in each corner on the door speakers and the rear would be so much easier and cheaper..
Can you upgrade your system to have more speakers if they don't come standard on the car? My z4 just has the basic speakers (no subwofers behind seats). Great videos btw really helpful.
Great clear video but concerned about moving the door panels on my own. Yours seemed to go well though. Have an Anglo/French Naim audio system at home so very interested in this upgrade to my Z4 E89. Very tempted! How much was it? Well done and thanks
Hi! Great video.....Don't know if you can help me - I am trying to replace the rear panel mid range speakers but with great struggle...I take the speaker grill off, unscrew the speakers from panel, all very simple. The problem I am having is that I cannot unplug the blue connector from the original speakers, it is literally impossible to pull out. I have tried on both rear speakers but they are both completely stuck in place. Is there some sort of special technique to unplugging the blue connector? Thanks
Hi! Those connectors are horrible. I'm not sure if there is a proper way of unplugging them, but on some I used a pick tool to push in the little tab and then just pull as hard as I could to separate them.
Hi👋 Great Video ! I have currently an Z4 E89 23i from 2011 with the Base Hifi system. I dont have woofers behind the Seat's (and no holes for the Woofers yet) . Do you think it's possible to Upgrade my Base System to the S676A System with the woofers? And what kind of parts do i need extra to do this? Thanks in advance! 😊
Nice job. I have the same OEM speaker set up and looking to do a similar upgrade. Thanks to your video I noticed the centre dash and rear speakers mounts have a blocked space for the tweeters. And the crossover/tweeter connector is running off the same speaker line as the midrange drivers. I think you know what I'm about to ask... If i were to cut out the blocker tweeter hole, mounted the tweeter and use a crossover (same as the doors), do you think it'd run ok?
Hi. The S676A of my e89 has also two small woofer in front of car below near the feet of driver and passenger. These ones doesen't be changed with alpha one update woofers?
This might be a silly question, but couldn't you just add another the twitter in center, although the car wasn't fitted with one from the factory? Would that make any sense?
Yes, I couldn't have added 3 more tweeters actually. One in the center and 2 more on the rear side panel speakers. I would have to modify the bracket the speaker sits in or get a replacement. You know.. I might do that at some point!
@@SimpleCarGuy great! Thanks for your answer! Mine is the UK model (rhd) and I only have the base model sound with 6 speakers (2 extra in the footweel) and 2 tweeters, no subwoofers, and I was looking for inspiration to do some sound improvements Many thanks!
Thanks for the in depth tutorial! Just curious..... what does your new system sound like with the roof down? How well does it cut through the wind noise? My OEM system is not so great when driving with the top down.
I used to crank up the volume to almost full at highway speeds and there was a lot of noise coming from the speakers at that volume. I'm happy to report that it's not longer the case. I haven't driven the car that much without the roof with the new speakers, yet since it's winter in Chicago, but from my testing it's been much clearer and you can crank it up louder without any noise. Hope that helps! I'll report back after driving for a while.
Hi, could you share the specs of each speaker please? I confirm European version has 11 speakers for the S676A and I would like to replace it but I cannot find speakers that match the impendence or size or depth or all 3 :-( please help!
I've verryyy happy with the sound so far and I'm not sure I would benefit from adding an amp at this point. The car is tiny on the inside with 9 speakers! It might be a good idea for the summer when the roof is down most of the time, though.
Awesome video! Off topic question but did you add the small spoiler to the car yourself? If so, where did you get it? I've been trying to find a good looking one for my Z4 and yours is exactly what I was looking for.
I'm surprised that all of the speakers are secured with screws instead of rivets, the former will eventually unscrew because of the speaker vibrations while the latter won't.
The base system only has 4 midrange and 2 woofers in the kick panels there are no tweeters, at least that is the spec for cars in Europe. The trims around the rear side speakers in your car must be broken because in my car even if I managed to get them out without removing the big bolt for the seat belt there is no way the trim panel would go back in without that seat belt bolt being removed and in fact according to Newtis that is the correct way to remove those panels. These custom speakers kit are stupid money, you can get much cheaper non custom speakers and adapt them to fit which is what I did. I upgraded my base system with 4 new midranges 2 tweeters 2 woofers for the front kick panels and two Kicker subs in the rear panel where the higher spec cars like yours have the factory subs and the powered the lot with two amps plus an MMI Apple car play box for my iDrive, all for less than 800 euros!
Honestly, yes. It made a huge difference to this car. I’ve also updated the amplifier on my X7 and while it made a difference, it wasn’t nearly as huge.

Very impressive how you do this stuff at home. True DIY and I love it! The speakers look high quality too!
Thank you for sharing all the work you do on the Z4!
My pleasure! This car is a keeper for many, many years so I have to treat her nicely with the upgrades!
@@SimpleCarGuy Where do you sell it?
Sell what?
Well done 👍. The European version of this car apparently has 2 extra midrange speakers near the footwell.
Really!? That's really interesting. I'll have to look into this. I thought that 9 speakers was enough, but I guess not!

@@SimpleCarGuy Hey! Thanks for your response, much appreciated. Yep, that helps alot. That was the answer I was looking for.
Noticed that they made an M2 body kit for the z4, would you consider it?

Can you tell us cost of speaker package.?
The complete set is $1151. If you don't want the woofers, it's $593 for the speaker set.
Thanks for that.
Great info and video tutorial 👌 👍.
Thanks a lot man!
Next job you should replace the amp!

@@SimpleCarGuy i have the bavsound upgrade and i can assure you the amp makes a huge difference specially if you didnt have the harmon kardon amp :)
Are all the wires already in place for all models regardless of stock speaker system from the factory?
No, you will only have wiring for the speakers that were there from the factory.
Awesome video! Off topic question but did you add the small spoiler to the car yourself? If so, where did you get it? I've been trying to find a good looking one for my Z4 and yours is exactly what I was looking for.

Where did you get the cup holder?
That was stock on my Z4, came from factory.
Strange my Z4 has two mid in doors, two footwell and two rear speakers as standard. Your car must be missing footwell speakers.
Standard is 2 woofers in footwell, 2 mid range in doors, and 2 mid range in rear sides
@@Mikeboris1 But not on the list in video. He didn't replace the foot woofers. I assume if you have the behind seat woofers, the footwell not fitted.

Yo lo he comprado desde España, me lo envían desde Emiratos Árabes y ahora tengo que pagar 90€ de aduanas. Una estafa.
