      Should watch some Jonny Quest from the mid 60's. They mentioned 'miles and miles of seaweed.' This isn't unlikely to have been the case back then.

    Longer than a school bus? several football fields long? Why is the length told in these terms rather than simply stating it in metres? I know this is an american channel but why do they think everyone knows the length of a football field or that all school buses are of the same length?

    • @smartacus88
      @smartacus88 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Why do you think an American channel should describe things in a way not understood by most Americans? We owe you nothing. I'm sure European programs don't go out of their way to describe things in imperial measurements to appease foreign viewers. I'm sure the sentiment is "learn our way or accept misunderstanding"
      Well, that goes both ways.

      @@smartacus88 School bus, football field and Texas are not forms of 'imperial' measurement. They are are just terms to describe something that Merkans can relate to. There are three countries on the plant that dont use the metric system. Liberia, Myanmar and......the good ol U. S. of A. Time to catch up with the rest of the world or at least get into the 1980's

      Sometimes it's easier to conceptualize than a number that would be so large, football fields are approximately the same size as soccer fields if that helps you though!

    This seaweed is ruining the east coast of several islands in Caribbean!

  • @JohnDoe-it1vq
    @JohnDoe-it1vq 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The cause of this is excess nutrient pollution in the water (nitrogen from fertilizer typically). An no, it is not a good thing as it kills coral reefs as well as seagrass. It also maligns beaches.
