I don't read a lot of romances but I think I may really like some with characters in their 30s! It is always nice to see people closer to my own age. I do plan on reading House in the Cerulean Sea this month!
You all prolly dont give a shit but does any of you know a method to get back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly forgot my account password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Otis Decker Thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm trying it out now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Romance is usually not a genre I gravitate towards because the few that Ive read haven't really worked out for me. Im glad I found your channel and that I found this video. I have some very awesome new recs. Hope your New Year is off to a great start !!!
The House In The Cerulean Sea was definitely one of my favorite books this year. I borrowed the ebook from my library but had to have a physical copy because I know it will be a comfort reread in the future. One author I thought of, though her stuff isn't romance but I think more fiction with romantic elements maybe... but Maeve Binchy has some great novels IMO.
The House in the Cerulean Sea is everything 💜 And I can't wait to read Spoiler Alert! Another one I'd recommend in this category is The Switch by Beth O'Leary. It follows a young woman and her grandma (in her late 70s) who exchange their life/house, the grandma ends up in London trying to meet people and find love. The romance is not the focal point of the story but it's really sweet and funny with some heavier topics thrown in (similar to The Flatshare from the same author).
What an awesome video! Thanks for all the recommendations. I think I'll pick up A Wedding in December next month and The House in the Cerulean Sea soon.
I just finished this amazing romance by Cathy Yardley which is called Role Playing and it's about an introvert divorce (Maggie) and a demi-sexual nurse (Aiden) who meet true gaming. It was so lovely and I just wanted to share that for other people who like older couples in their romance.
Carla Kelly has a few I think! I really liked The Admiral’s Penniless Bride which fits the bill. Heroine in her 30s and hero in his 40s. And I’m really looking forward to reading House at the Cerulean Sea, it sounds adorable. 😍
The first book that came to mind was a Royal Holiday by Jasmine Guillory. The heroine comes to England with her grown daughter. The Switch is also a lovely story. I like stories with older heroines. Thanks for this list.
Thank you!!!! For another series, you might consider Roxanne St. Claire's Barefoot Bay Timeless books. Some of her other other Barefoot books also seem to have older characters, too. Thank you!!!
I literally just finished The House in the Cerulean Sea and it was awesome! On another note, one of my favourite (speculative) mature romance is in The Amberlough Dossiers trilogy. :)
This doesn't exactly meet this criteria BUT "The Idea of You" by Robinne Lee is about a 40 year old divorced mother of a 13 year old who gets involved with a 21 year old boy band singer. I thought it was well done.
One of my fav reads of this year. Incredible romance (HEA or not, that book is still a romance to me) and incredible commentary on a number of different issues.
Best Laid Plans by Sarah Mayberry The Admiral’s Penniless Bride by Carla Kelly The Second Time Around by Marie Ferrerella Only Beloved by Mary Balogh Someone to Care by Mary Balogh The Chapel Cove series written by several authors all in KU
I just got The Christmas Sisters based on your previous recommendation! For the food/weight aspect of Robyn Carr's books you mentioned, would you say it's portrayed as a negative attitude to have? or is it not really dealt with? I loved book 1 in that Olivia Waite series but have heard mixed things about the sequel so I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it! Loved hearing these recs!
Yay!! And good question. I would say it's portrayed as normal to positive, which I find a bit irritating. But I enjoy everything else about most of her books.
Are you saying there's still hope for me at 33? I do have the Christmas Sisters, I need to get to that this December. I really need to get Spoiler Alert. It sounds like my perfect book. Thanks for the recs, I've got some new ones added to the list! One I liked with a just barely 30 y/o MC was The Bookish Life of Nina Hill. It's probably more finding oneself/family drama than strictly romance, but I really enjoyed the book overall!
Queen Move by Kennedy Ryan has older characters (in her 30’s I think) and a cinnamon roll hero 😍. I think The Takeover by TL swan might have older (30’s) characters. She’s a widow with 3 kids.
THANKYOU!!! For the love of all that's holy, I just can't identify with an 18 year old anymore. I need 30 years and up (at the very least, very late 20s) that's still spicy. KA is the only author I really know who does this so thankyou thankyou thankyou!
Older romances tend to have less petty drama, which i am here for
100%
exactly! my interest in that drama has nosedived with age (I just turned 40) but I still like my spice
I like that you're promoting more age diversity 🙂
Absolutely!
This is the exact video I needed! Thank you so much!
As a romance reader in her late 30s, I love this video. Thank you!
You're so welcome!
you and me both
I love a good romance novel with older characters, especially 50 and up.
Yes!! Hope you find some good ones!
I don't read a lot of romances but I think I may really like some with characters in their 30s! It is always nice to see people closer to my own age. I do plan on reading House in the Cerulean Sea this month!
It's a nice change of pace! Cerulean Sea is lovely.

@Otis Decker It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thanks so much you really help me out!
Great to hear about these books with older protagonists. I need to get to take a hint Dani Brown.
That is such a good one! It's nice to have some variety in age.
I didn't realize some of these were older age romances but loveeee!
Yes!!

Yes, it's such a comfort read! Thanks for sharing.
What a fun list! This isn't something that I track in my reading but it is fascinating.
Thanks! I've seen people asking for more of these.

Wonderful! Glad it was helpful!
Loved the video! I really enjoyed the Sapphic historical romances by Olivia Waite because of the age of their heroines
Absolutely! Thanks for watching!
Love this list! I've been working on one too and we've got some good overlap 😍
Ohh yay! Looking forward to seeing it!
I love this video💕 Such an awesome idea & recommendations👍🏾
Glad you liked it!!
I'm saving this for later because I'm an elder millennial. :D
Love it!

It's so good!! Oh interesting, I had been a little interested in those!

It's so good.

@@vamps_rock I though the author did a good job with the many issues. I hope this author writes another book.
