People need to combat those dealer mark ups with one simple word: "NO." Nice video.
Or, one could just depart from the herd mentality and just wait. lol.
Even better: Buy a pre-owned GT and build it exactly the way you want. You would then have a unique supercar that would destroy the GT500 and you would still probably have money left over.

21' track packs are marked up 30k as of yesterday. 135k for gt500? That's crazy.
It Willow Springs a ZO6 put down a 1:25 and the ZR1 put down a 1:23. The GT350 put down a 1:28. Even if what I said was true and the tires weren't optimal you're only going to gain about a second with tires if that. And I'm pretty positive that Randy had everything in best mode for the best optimal handling for that track. Will find out whatever Car and Driver does their Lightning Lap 2020 at VIR. I'm predicting 2:45 - 2:47 for the GT500. The ZO6 put down a 2:44 and the GT500 is in no way as fast as a ZO6. The Ford GT put down a 2:45 and a 2:43 and there's no way even on a bad day the GT500 is faster than a Ford GT on the track.
As for the ZL1 1LE. It's a different breed than the GT500. They put down a 1:26 at Willow Springs and a Lightning Lap of 2:45. I believe the GT500 Willow Springs put down like a 1:28 so even with fresh tires it's going to be in the 1:27 range so the 1LE is still faster on the track.
I'm sure people are going to chime in saying that on the straightaways GT500 is faster. And you would be correct. But if we've learned anything about racing on a track with twisties straight away speed really doesn't mean anything. If anybody ever watched the British Touring Car Championships they had V8 battling 4 cylinders back in the '60s and it was bumper to bumper racing. You had Cooper Minis beating Camaros and Mustangs back in the 60s. The GT500 is a straightaway monster and that's about where it ends.

Actually Ford themselves admitted that on some tracks that the GT500 is actually faster then the Ford GT, so you never know.

You’re absolutely right. I had a GT500 specced out to order and the msrp was about $107k but they wanted to charge me $240k out the door. This was in HB. Ended up ordering a new GT350 instead.
@Twobarpsi this was about the exact same time SpeedPhenom ordered his. Man, he lucked out and I’m jealous. This was my introduction car to the Shelby world. And damn are the dealers greedy in CA.
He’s also right about “they can’t promise you a date” I ordered my 2020 GT350 back in early November and I still don’t have a Vin to track. I put a down payment on it and I did see the email from Ford saying mine is a priority over their other 350s at the moment because I’m top in the que. but usually ordering it’s 6-8weeks domestic. Ford is domestic for the US. So I’m at a loss and it’s frustrating.

If I ever bought a car from a dealership with a markup, as soon as they handed over the keys I'd let them know no service will be coming to them (dealerships make their money in service mainly).
I'd love to do that, but where I live the dealer has a monopoly on Ford cars so if I don't service with them I lose warranty...
My answer to their insane markup is that I'm moving to another brand.. as much as I love the car I'm not in the mood of donating to the dealer's 100th house
@@sparky20100 do you not live in the US? Dont know about other places but you're protected from that here. Magnumson( or something close to that) warranty act. They cant deny your warranty if you do your own service or have an indy do it.
@@Zeracho yeah outside the US, currently living in Dubai and here the dealer wants to charge $114k for the non-carbon track pack model.. so about a 40k premium over MSRP more or less.. but yeah if you don't buy from them you basically don't have warranty over here

I bought a 2013 gt 500, with a 5,000 mark up and it has never been back to the dealer for anything, even for air bag replacement, it has 5,100 miles on it now. I don't care for the dealerships.
The AMG GTR is nice and all, but I rather have the GT500.

I think it's great that you have left the car stock and bring that experience to your channel. That's the reason I am a subscriber.
Might have melted wiring going to the exhaust valves, some gts have had that issue.
The gt500 is a great looking car but I must say, that ZL1 looks more aggressive and the front looks better imo. The rear not so much but front for sure.
I love the Shelby so much but that GTR is incredible as well, I can see why you'd buy if you can afford.

The car gods must hate me. I missed the 60s performance era. Teen in th 80s. Best we had was Foxbody Mustangs. Now I'm in my 50s. How do you come out with these bad ass cars. REALLY! Oh well I'll probably would have kill myself or going in debt with traffic tickets. Enjoy
When it comes to the manual as you know its about the feel of shifting it yourself and feeling the gears. I mean I drive a slow Subaru legacy gt that's 300whp but I think its fun at the track and I think that's specifically cause the enjoyment I get from shifting from one gear to another gear right before a corner or the adrenaline rush when I am racing someone on the straight away grabbing those gears as hard as possible.
Love the car but that rotary shift thing is just horrible. Why would Ford not just put a regular shift lever ? Even my Mazda CX-5 has a shift lever.
The worst part about buying a Shelby GT500 is that i don't have the money to... so fuck eveything else....
I'm a big fan of the AMG GT, but maintenance costs are pretty scary. Look into it, before you buy one.
I would wait if I was in the market. Screw the dealer, that AMG owner was correct.

I went to my local dealer and they wanted 30k over. I said why? They said the demand. I said really it’s not a limited production. And walked out and drove away in my 2019 ZL1 that I ordered from Chevy and paid under sticker. LOL. Your a sucker if you pay those dealer mark ups....

ZL1 isn't faster then GT500 no way! These dealers are screwing over consumers and it's not right!!! You have numerous dealerships all over the country taking advantage of people and it sucks. But that being said the consumer can fight back by not going nuts when these cars come out and paying these crazy prices. If those cars sit on showroom floors for while these guys wouldn't be asking 20-40 k over sticker the longer it sits the longer they don't make money. They understand this but at end of day each individal has to make this decision. I've decided against paying that kind of money for GT500 I'm sitting back and maybe in 2-3 yrs from now these car should be in less demand and cost should be adjusted by then.

This car car has no chance in my garage because it has a Dual Clutch transmission. If a proper manual transmission shows up, then we're talking.
Edit to add: I failed to mention, I prefer proper automatics with a torque converter over a manual transmission but the chances of Ford putting one in the GT500 is slim to none. Thought I would mention that.

@@VicinalElk44104 You're made several errant assumptions, where do I start? First of all, I"m not a manual purist,..I prefer stalled, fast shifting automatics. Second, what makes you think a dual clutch is faster than a proper torque converter automatic? Recent data is hard to come by but I remember back in 2015 when the 8 speed automatic in the Corvette shifted faster than the Porsche PDK. (If you look around, you can find an article or two on that). In reality, the only thing a DCT is faster than is a manual transmission since we are human, after all. One point you make that I"ll concede is efficiency but any benefit a DCT has there is marginal.
Fact of the matter is a properly built and tuned automatic CAN and WILL shift faster than a DCT without all of the low speed and part throttle crap behavior to deal with. Seriously, DCTs are like having a manual transmission wrapped in a straight jacket. lol In that context, you damn right I'll take a manual transmission over one. Furthermore, a DCT clutch will never be able to multiply torque and flash like a torque converter. (A wonderful trait afforded by that wonderful thing called Fluid Dynamics). I thought I would also mention that with the latest 10 speed automatics, we now have more gears on team TAC. lol (Torque Converter Automatic, just coined that).
I think one of the main reasons manufacturers are pushing DCTs is because they are in reality cheaper to manufacture than a proper auto so that along with the idea 'that they are better' is pushing this 'craze'. You may not agree with me but that's ok. I DO NOT like dual clutch transmission and I don't apologize for it.
I'm not trying to be an arse but you might try and stereotype people here on youtube less and stick more with the facts.

Never once did you mention that you prefer automatics. The way you worded it, made it seem like you are a manual purist. So, yeah. But it will shift faster than a manual, which IS what you mentioned in your original post. So to basically flame the DCT when comparing it to a manual transmission, then when you get told it shifts faster and crisper, you mention an automatic trans with a stall? That wasn't even in the original discussion, bud.

The 74 through the Cleveland National Forest is a great drive but is a nightmare when there's an accident.
I live in canyon lake on east side of mountain. Bikers die monthly up there on that road.
@@socalbengal3087 I've ridden it on a sportbike as well as in my Mustang GT or STi and can certainly see that. There are many people on bikes riding it that can't handle the curves at the speeds they're traveling and have no business on the Ortega Highway through the mountains. Palomar Mountain is no different.
If you have it built from the factory you don’t have to pay the up charge dealers are doing. At least not on the East Coast
Generally you can find a dealer in your state or next to that wont markup. Had a dealer try and push me into buying a scat pack that i wasnt feeling by saying they would give it to me at msrp, even tho someone yesterday bought one at a 5k markup🤣

Well unless it's a track pack. To be honest I think the Ford dealerships that are charging that much over sticker or being straight Crooks and they should not be Ford dealers. Don't get me wrong I think they should make money because they need to stay in business but people have allowed the car dealership business to be Shady that's why they have such a bad rap so I'm not saying they shouldn't get any money I'm down for the making a little bit of money off the car but that far over sticker is a rip-off from them.
Although I will say here's the deal with the track pack is those wheels are even bigger than last year's just as light just a strong so those wheels are going for between 15 to 20 grand a piece you can definitely bet those are pushing on the higher end closer to twenty Grand a piece then on top of the carbon fiber arrow that you get and the carbon piece for the dash you're still looking at like between 13 to $15,000 if you were to buy all those pieces yourself... so whoever buys one even if they paid 130 grand for it which I don't think anybody should but if somebody did there's like $95,000 worth of carbon fiber on the car and that's that that's not even the selling point of the car!:).
It's the new engine 760 horsepower and the fact that Ford and GM spent a stupid amount of money partnering and coming up with a DCT transmission for their cars. There's there is a difference between the two forward is a 7-speed GM is an 8-speed. At that point it's like you spent $130,000 on an extremely bad ass comfortable monster that you can drive everyday take to the track and if you're good enough driver be neck-and-neck with Porsches finest track weapon and u $90,000 worth of carbon fiber for free. Who are you buying extremely dope ass amazing Mustang it does everything I just said and you put $90,000 with a carbon-fiber on it:).
either way it's a mother freaking win whoever buys a car in the winter Ford Ford is the mother freaking best I giving people the best bang for your buck. And just like the Shelby gt350r it's going to hit its bottom price people are going to pay for the car and get all the carbon fiber for free or people are going to pay for all the carbon fiber and get that bad ass car for free... and if they take care of it they will be able to turn in and sell it for a good profit years down the road. and the Shelby still weighs like 500 plus pounds more. the Porsche GTRs line at least the flagship ones are between 140000 to well over 200 plus thousand dollars. and 140000 for a GT two or three Rs is like the absolute bottom price and if history is an indicator cars like that they're only start going up from there just give it some time.
right off the top of my head thanks to that Washington State 🔥 which RS Randy post raced but either way both of those cars are doing sub 7 Minute lap times at the Nurburgring in the Shelby was only 200 seconds off a smaller track that's nowhere near the places to you 760 horsepower like the green hell has. oh yeah and this thing would kill the hello Kitty and be right next to or beat depending on the driver and conditions the pink eye and the demon and that's at the transmission is in protection mode so it will not shift as fast as I can.
So runs with or beats Factory drag race cars and the best sports cars on the drag strip that money can buy keeps up with racing royalty it doesn't just keep up with it gives it a very good challenge and the still comfortable enough to drive everyday! Word for the win
The mark up making other cars more worth it. Only real mustang enthusiast will do it. I’m a die hard mustang guy too, but at that price point , might as well get the AMG
Maybe so but people buying this car are more focused on performance and the AMG that goes for around the same price falls very short in comparison.

Indeed. The Corvette ZR1 is the only car American made that would smoke the GT500. The camaro ZL1 1LE is faster on certain tracks. That being dependent of layouts and track length. I believe on more techincial tracks. The ZL1 1LE is faster. Both are great buys. But Chevy been had the ZL1 1LE out and for it to still hang with a new most powerful ever thus far GT500 speaks volumes to the engineering behind the car. Wow.

@@logicstperformance555 and the ZR1 can beat the GT2RS albeit it's way harder to since the ZR1 is a true drivers car with a ton of low end torque. Coming out of turns and corners is a challenge you have to nail the throttle inputs. In the Porsche it's easier because you can just slingshot out of the turns. Hence why on most tracks it is faster. Down to drivers comfortability. The more comfortable the better the driver handles the car.

Actually in that test if you hear Randy he said the GT500 is definitely faster but because the tires it was severely hindered.
The was no question that the GT500 is much faster. He was getting 10+mph faster as well on the straights.
Even in the drag test on the street the ZL1 beat the GT500 because it couldn't even hook for a straight line.
And if you listen to Randy if he had to pick one he’d pick the camaro.

Greg Williams Well, the ZL1 vs the Shelby in real world testing so far is 2-0. So I guess we’ll have to wait for more head to head testing. The Shelby has more power. So it’s faster in a quarter. That doesn’t help it corner. Ford hasn’t quite got the mustang GT track pack two equal to the SS 1LE so... we’ll see.

Some people are really, really stupid when it comes to modifying also. And most have no business driving a high horsepower vehicle, because they just dont know what to do with all that hp.
I could get any car I wanted financially and I went to test drive the gt500 and the dealer wanted 25k extra over sticker and I had just took a drink and I spit it on them from laughing bye accident. Still pretty funny I told them I'm not even wasting their time driving it. I'm not paying 1 penny over msrp. I will just wait until next year or go to an auction.
Did you have to pay a mark-up on your car? I tried to get a GT350R 3 years ago. Dealers wanted $20k over sticker, so I got a different car. Now I am shopping for a GT500 and dealers here in California want $50k over MSRP. That is nuts.
Definitely want to look for out of state options. Cali is notorious for shit markups
Buy a GT. Then go to Roush or Shelby for an upgrade. Might save some money.

I’m sure it’s just your exhaust valve is stuck closed. Causing it to not letting you change drive modes. It’s happened to me in the summer and winter in MN in my focus RS

Austin, did you figure out the exhaust issue? Seems weird that you had that issue. Have you seen anyone else have that problem? Do a Google search to see if there is a problem it stops you from changing it? Ford can fix the issue with the frickin' ADM's by selling the top of the line Mustangs or other cars directly to the people. They have the car configurator on the site, they could take deposits or full payments, and you pick the dealer where you want the car delivered. That would bypass the dealerships throwing the ADM's on the cars. Simple fix.

Unfortunately I didn't... After around 30 minutes later I turned off car for a few minutes and turned it back on, everything worked fine. Thanks!!

Remmber all dealership are steelerships I have a 5.0 recently got it 2 months ago had these really ugly wheels came with big wheel spacers and one of my back rear wheels started making a big noise I took it to the dealership and they checked it out the guy in the service called me a week before I got the car they told me the car was 100% checked and secured that noise started happening like 1 week before I took it out from the dealer so the guy calls me and told me there was 2 loose bolts they literally charged me $150 just to replace 2 bolts and maunt the wheel back normally they were going to charge me 200 so over priced if I knew it was a loose bolt I could of done it myself ... then the guy at the service was talking to me was all trying to blame me that I had caused the problem i told them i didnt even remove the wheels but there so hard headed he kept telling me that ... now i switched the wheels i got some nice Ferrada wheels with some nice nittos also new rotors and pads never taking my car to the dealership anymore theres other that help out better some are straight jack asses
When the first turbo Mustangs came out, a bunch of them had camshafts that were heat treated incorrectly and for some time, Ford would't issue a recall.
The SVO and/or earlier models?
I don't remember the designation (if any), just they were the first.
@@TairnKA they had a turbo motor option in their '80 year. Not sure on '81, '82 or even '83 (too lazy to look it up), but their SVO was considered a good vehicle from '84 to '86 albeit too expensive as compared to their sweet 5.0 V8. I don't recall reading about issues with those years' SVO cars, but it wouldn't surprise me for the earlier 80s model years since 'turbo' and 'American car' had not really been used in the same sentence up until 1980 (turbo Trans Am) or so, unless Buick had turboed their 3.8 V6 earlier (maybe 1978?).
