Actually, Fortus is doing all Izzy's rythme part. Ashba and Bumblefoot play one part of the main solo each in order to sound just like the studio version as Slash recorded two guitars for it, one for the first half and the other with wah for the second half. Not that I'm a fan of this lineup though...

That's part of the problem. At his age the moving around and his weight impact on his voice (yes it's mainly a vocal chord issue, but his age and weight impact that a lot more than most think) if he had moved around less and lost the weight the he would have sounded better.

I've been a GNR fan from the beginning. my dad bought me Appitite with my birthday money as per my request (I was 4). I still have that cassette. I own every GNR album put out, including a demo from 1986 and the Hollywood Rose album (not Greatest Hits cause GNR had nothing to do with it, it was all record label BS).
I love GNR. while GNR of today is different and Axel doesn't quite sound exactly as he did 25 years ago, I still like them. I also like other band members projects too.
for those complaining that "this isn't the real GNR". GNR had had many members since they started in 1986, including Tracy Gunns (where the Guns in Guns And Roses came from and a founding member of the band). exactly which version is the real GNR? the early 86 version (tracci gunns (of LA Guns fame) on guitar), the 86-91 version (w/ steven adler on drums), 91-92 (w/ Matt Sorum on drums, Dizzy being added on keyboards), 92-94 (Gilby Clarke replacing Izzy), 95-2001 (buckethead on guitar), 2002-present? or just say GNR is really just a polished up version of Hollywood Rose, which was a revamped version of A.X.E.L. (Axel Rose's first band with Izzy). sorry kiddies, but in every incarnation of GNR, Axel was the one constant member. besides, no one really complains about the current line-up of Lynard Skynard isn't the real Lynard Skynard because only one current member of the band was apart of the early 70s version.
These comments are ridiculous. Taking into account his age, he actually sounds great. Stop comparing the today's person to the one from 30 years ago. I still miss the looks though, but love him anyhow.

DJ Ashba is also talented. Heard his riffs in Sixx Am and I became a supporter. Also he does the solos to Sweet Child O Mine quite well.

***** I personality find Mr bumblefoot to be better than dj ashba, even and especially melodically speaking. Even though bumblefoot only gets the most technical parts in gnr songs and doesn't show his musicality much here (listen to his acoustic album for instance ). That being said, I only know two or three songs from ashba's personal band and solo stuff, so I can't judge really much, but from what I heard I still find sir Ron Thal better.
And there's Richard fortus who rocks pretty good also.
the only one that really pisses me off is dj ashba, he needs to stop trying to be slash, and i dont even like slashes old sold out ass either, but everyone else in the band i really enjoy
What actually happened to Axl's voice? I know he got out of shape and Im guessing smoking had a lot to do with his voice....did he just blow it when young? I dont get how it could change so damn much. I know other singers who in their 70's sound the same as always. So what is really wrong with Axl's?

The quality and pitch of his voice when he was younger is extremely hard on your vocal chords. It would be truly incredible if he managed to keep it all throughout his life.
Robert Plant's voice is also very different today, and he had those kind of voices that does 200 shows and doesn't gets tired

You have to Admit axl is a lot of things but money wise he is a genius. He convinced everyone to sign over the rights to GNR and he's still grossing millions per show, even though he is a micro fraction of himself and the band is all unoriginal. Who else can say they still make that money being worse then they were before?
Yea and the guys wanted to keep the band going so they signed it. Sure Axl is worth 150 million and the other guys at around 20 million but most people would side with slash and izzy on a personal level. Axl decided he wanted the money and future rights of guns at any cost, even if he was the only member. It's sad but that's what sick people do, push everyone away and go at it alone. Pre-1990 was my favorite part of GNR the original.

Agreed, when he was on he was one of the best if not the best. Watch that live mtv show at the ritz in 88 I believe it's one of the best life shows I've seen. His voice and lyrics are so unique.
